Me playing the old shockwave-based web game that was on Boards of Canada's website back around the time their album "Geogaddi" released. The game features a multitude of "kaleidoscope", "reflected panorama" and "island world" scenes that features various pieces of music from the duo, including three unreleased tracks: Trails, Gann, and Time Apple/Kaleidoscope. The game took over the whole structure of the site in early 2002 up until mid 2005 to announce of their upcoming album "The Campfire Headphase".
The game online, archived by the developer: www.atomless.co...
All credits go to James Tindall (Game designer) and Boards of Canada. If any of you individuals see this video and want it unlisted/privated/deleted, email me at dearojv@gmail.com. - เกม

those clever bastards made the sun a hexagon.
attention to detail is spot on.
why I love them so much
I believe the reasoning for the title is because of the effect the sun has on cameras
@@zarkflappysheepcamera lenses sometimes have aperture blades to reduce the amount of light entering the film. I definitely know this is the case for SLR but phone cameras are probably different.
A simple but gorgeous presentation for an album, with some exclusive tracks included, some never released. There was a spirit of creativity and exploration in the new media at that time, and if you took the time to seek it out, you were rewarded. A lost era, to be sure.
For sure ... I wonder if this is on flashpoint
@@Geostationary0rbit its there!
Things were made for the joy of it.
I’ve been listening to boc since the 90s and my fascination with their music is still deepening
I used to get so stoned and fiddle around with this thing forever. Such an amazing site and so ahead of its time.
GenZ here. I saw the American horror movie ‘Sinister’ in 2012 (great soundtrack btw) it introduced me to BOC and I fell in love with their stuff ever since….
*ALMOST 15 YEARS LATER, WHERE’S MUSIC FROM THESE PEOPLE?!?!??!?!* I haven’t experienced a fresh BOC release EVER!
Btw this reminds of Thom Yorke’s ‘Polyfauna’ experience on iPhone.
Imagine playing a game in wich every loading screen plays an unreleased Boc track. I would be delighted with my computer freezing anytime it wanted to.
I remember playing this in the early 2000's, when I was still discovering new BoC stuff all the time. The way the music "emanates" from the pylons, the laid-back experience of staring at the sky watching contrails, etc., all contributed to a magical experience.
this is such a simple game but still perfectly captures the boards of canada vibe
Imagine vanilla minecraft with BoC music
Or Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2.
Someone should mod it into the game
imagine this flash game but with the Minecraft soundtrack instead
That would be too much for my heart to handle.
minecraft music takes ALOT more inspiration than you think from BoC
they were doing this in 2002, light years before anyone, even now (2023)
So amazing to see this again! This was one of the coolest experiences back in the day when the web was still young and i still remember it fondly. So unique and fitted Boards like a charm.. Damn what a lost age.
Weird thinking about it after the death of Flash and the ‘WayBackMachine’ isn’t going to be around for forever.
1997-2008 is a second dark ages in terms of internet preservation.
@@MillywiggZ Absolutely, ocean's of data got lost in time, i miss the days where u 'discovered' stuff on the web instead of getting served by heavily modified algorhytms that feed you literally anything, and are good at it too..
I think this are the ultimate representation of BOC music, how they imagin it, how they see it in their mind.
Huge thanks for preserving this.
so horrendously ridiculous how perfectly this game matches Boards of Canada. I was watching absolutely stunned at what I was seeing, especially with some of the most immersive songs on here (specifically thinking of, for me, gyroscope and the beach at redpoint)
It took my PC about 15 minutes to run this back in the day.
wow thank you so much, i didn't even know a thing like this existed
both, FPsoftware and this rare flash game
Who wants me to make a VR port of this?
Please.
Yeah, that's right.
Did you do it tho?
Where it go??
this might've inspired radiohead's polyfauna games
interesting how this mix of hi scores seems to use roygbiv's drums
Beautiful
I wonder if trails is from an early album like Catalog 3
i think it's more likely that its late 90s early 2000s. imo it seems like a sort of perfect blend between IABPOITC and Geogaddi's vibes, and plus there was a stripped down version of it as a looping flash player file that appeared in a page of an earlier revision of their website: soundcloud.com/user-173148214/kookswf
Esto es una maravilla.
This shit is too cool
i used to stay on Seven Forty Seven bc it sounded amazing on this site. The released track is good but didn't capture the essence of it as well as this.. which is weird bc it's their material but wall of sound doesn't always work (imo).
Is there any information on the guy behind this website James Tindall?
He's on Twitter, i recently sent him a message thanking him for this experience, which was really unique for the time, still remember it fondly! I think he's still doing digital experiences.
Unfortunately this was probably his best work, all I can find him doing now is being constantly entrenched in whatever the news cycle tells him to be angry about
boc dropping hints about the Extra Terrain (ET) beyond the ice wall? BASED
Hello, i'm trying to play it on the flashpoint launcher, but it says "Connection could be established with remote host"...
What am i doing wrong ?
Maybe it’s only functional on infinite - try loading an alternate version in the extras section if you have it
Olivoil is saying it works on infinite

I still her but there is no point 🩶
Where every1 go?
how? I searched on Flashpoint and no results, I installed the shockwave patch.
I submitted it to get accepted into the next update, it's just a waiting game now. bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/datahub/Submitting_a_Curation
You can keep checking this list if I forget to edit this comment when it's hopefully accepted: bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/datahub/Game_Master_List
It's been added to Flashpoint 8.1! I suggest you download the "Infinity" version since it won't fill up your hard drive lol (since the ultimate version downloads literally every flash game archived by them)
