Wow ,great to see ,I spent my youth in WATERFORD especially my aunt Biddy the tripe lady at 4 shortcourse, my cousins worked in the glass ,Nick Cummins is married to my cousin Carol,I could fill u tube with my memories and more of my holidays in Tramore, thank you.
Thank you, so many familiar faces from my childhood. However they never spoke of a Ballybrickner ability add to a story. In my family which was from the Glen if you made the story better you were a true Ballybricker. I crossed the hill every school day for many years going from Kings Tce. To the Mercy in thr 1960/70s.
My father. Paul Caulfield, was born in Ballybricken in 1905. He was, like his father, a pig dealer. At some time in the early 1930's, I think, economics drove him to England. We, as a family, returned to Waterford after WWII, but the economy wasn't strong and so we had to go back to England. My father would tell me stories of the Waterford of his childhood, all recounted in his lovely Waterford accent. I have many letters (at least 20) recounting his memories. It's my intention to pick out the historically interesting parts and, maybe, send them to "Waterford News & Star". I've enjoyed watching Mark Power's documentary. I recognize many names my father would mention. In fact, I remember meeting Danny Morgan and seeing the beautiful horses. In my childhood we'd often go to Tramore for summer holidays, and, if I was good, my father would take me into Waterford to meet my cousins. I've lived in San Francisco since 1962, but, thanks to my father's stories, feel strong ties to Waterford and Ballybricken. Nuala Caulfield
Great informative film about Ballybricken. Does anyone know of the blacksmiths that was situated behind Bobby Grace's pub in Wellington Street owned by Tommy Murphy and his nephew and my grandfather Edward Goff? Any information would be fantastic as trying to find family of Goff/ Murphy? Chrissy Curbishley
does anyone know where the image of the lads playing cards came from at 4.59/5mins?? Thats my grandfather sitting 3rd from the left...i imagine this was in Bobby Graces as that was his brothers pub, previously his fathers. would love to know where the pic came from!
Thank you for this! As a child in London my neighbour was an elderly lady from Ballybricken she was the most wonderful and down to earth soul.
