Something to note, the video Hamas released of them training for urban warfare and learning to fly their para motors, the training camp used in that video is located at 31°20'22"N 34°16'09"E. Hamas has been using it to train for this attack for at least a year. There is no way they didn't know this was coming.. It's hard to believe that they didn't know. It is also unbelievable that it took their military 6+ hours to respond to the attack.
Israel created hamas snd Netanyahu was fund raising for them in 2019. I think Netanyahu arranged this. They had to know, the security was conveniently down, no soldiers around. Netanyahu smiling and laughing on tv gloating over getting to attack gaza. Netanyahu couldnt help but talk about how israel was now united........ because they were, and still will be, about ready to have a civil war.

If you are wholly ignorant and get your news from Twitter and Fox News then its perfectly possible that Peter is full of crap. It sounds so different from the news sources you are used to, but that doesn't mean its wrong, it simply means you don't already know a lot about history and geopolitics. For instance, you could read books on modern Iranian history and the history of Hamas. You could read books on the structure of maritime trade, etc. But that would require you to make an effort so, whatever. He is famous now because he predicted the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine in his previous books.

But he speaks plainly, and doesn’t speak Econocrap (similar to how some docs talk over peoples heads!). The thing about Zeihan is that he is fluid and articulate and barely pauses to take a breath. But when you start to examine what he’s saying it’s a lot of categorical statement and oversimplification that don’t really convey a depth of understanding of these complex situations and relationships. He’s also very quick with predictions, which rarely pan out.

His interviews give high-level overviews. Of course there are generalizations and directionally correct statements. If you want details, read one of his many books.
Roughly twenty years ago one of the threads of conversation about changes in intelligence capabilities included the idea that Israel’s early HUMINT advantages were diminishing because the Israelis who were first generation immigrants from Arab states were aging out. It was thought by some that the loss of that generation’s immediate personal native language capability and lived experience could not be directly replaced.

Many of the houses & farms employed Palestinians who they considered “ Friends” to work for them. They were part of the 1,000s of Palestinians who enter Israel every day to work then return to Gaza. Many of These Israelis living in certain Kibbutz that were hit are pacifist & peaceful & thought that by building close relationships with their neighbors in Gaza, speaking their language, learning their culture they could endear themselves to Palestinians & it would eventually lead to peace. How naive they were as reports are coming out that some of these Palestinian workers were also gathering Intel on the Kibbutz & relaying it to Hamas for the attack. Anyway, I agree, there’s no replacing that aging generation & their lived experiences & relationships . Trying to build new ones is nearly impossible between the two sides.

Wait, did he say we have two carrier strike groups in the Mediterranean just to rescue US hostages? If I did hear that correctly? that is...well...wrong. The US does not need to have a carrier in the region to rescue hostages and certainly not two, I can't even really connect the dots on that one. It could be I misunderstood or maybe being it is a podcast he misstated what he means. The US moves carrier strike groups to project power, mostly as a deterrent. That is the point today. Not sure why the US would need a carrier to rescue hostages in Gaza, they can use multiple airports in Israel if needed. The point of the carriers and other US navy assets in the region has nothing to do with hostages and everything to do with keeping Iran and it's proxies out of the war.
No, US doesn't want to launch fighter planes w bombs from Israel to support a hostage rescue of helicopters. That would seem too much like a full alliance. And Israel is about to kill 100,000 and ignore US requests for moderation, so we want to stress it's not a full alliance and each is free agent not coordinating. I'm not sure US even has fighter planes and helicopters based in Israel, we can't just assume US has extra 100 air craft there.. So Biden is sending in some extra carriers with nothing better to do .....

I personally know and am friends with a few palestinians. Where I'm from, we have quite a large arab/muslim population, many of whom would say that they are "palestinian" despite maybe their parents being refugees from another middle easter countries. They're perfectly normal and good people, but the second you start a discussion regarding israel and palestine, you realize how fucked up some of their views are.

I take Peter with a grain of salt. His analysis of Ukraine in the initial phase of the war was completely wrong, and he made a complete fool of himself in his analysis of the drug cartels. On this point, I do agree with him. But what I've come to learn about Peter is sometimes he falls in love with the sound of his own voice and just says things for the sake of an audience.
No emotion doesn’t mean truth. I like listening to Peter but he talks really flippantly and a bit overconfident. There’s no position on Israel-Palestine that can be invested in without emotion and the “not taking any side” take people sometimes give us usually a conflict between empathy and expediency.

I really detest the tiresome "open air prison camp" rhetoric which he repeated several times. Nobody is keeping the Palestinians from turning their strip of land into another Singapore, or a nice seaside resort. I'm from Germany and have given a lot of time in the last couple of years to find out about the underlying dependencies and Elite agendas. For those who haven't.. I recommend reading Peter's book "The End of the World is just the beginning"... he provides an easy listen to a complex situation that the world finds itself in.
I also listened and read that book and it was fantastic. Really grounded my thoughts about the world with a realistic viewpoint outside of the conspiracy theories that abound.

I can't help but assume that when Peter uses the term "open air prison" in Gaza that he's implying that Israel is the one that holds the keys. If not, I wish he would clarify what he's talking about in that it has become a statement used by Hamas to indict the Israelis. So for all those who hear the term and think that Israel is committing a criminal act--as per its implications--I would like to clarify a few things. 1. In 1970, three years after Israeli occupation of Gaza, the population was 343,000. Certainly small enough to exist in the area of Gaza. Since then due to extremely high fertility rates, the population stands at 2.3 million making the land area too small to live off of. Does this mean that land needs to be taken from Israel in order to accommodate the rising population? 2. Israel has allowed residents of Gaza periodically to work in Israel where they make substantially more money than in Gaza itself. These periods of time were never cut short for no reason by the Israeli government but by terrorist actions committed by Hamas. 3. The very first proclamation in the Hamas charter calls for the destruction of Israel. 4. Hamas was voted into power by the people of Gaza despite this proclamation presented first and foremost in its charter. 5. Depictions of the "crimes" Israel commits by most major news sources rarely mention what led up to the actions Israel takes as if the reprisals weren't responses to Hamas terrorist attacks but merely fell out of the sky as if they were taken at the random whimsy of the Israeli government. Hamas has never given Israel an opportunity to live in peace alongside Palestinians under any conditions but Israel's destruction. How is a country supposed to respond to a neighbor with this ideology? How do you accommodate that? This "open air prison," (which somehow has managed to see its population rise by an order of 8 since Israel first took charge of the area not from the Palestinians themselves but from Egyptian control) exists under extraordinary conditions, but this is due to an extraordinarily declared racist, bigoted and bloodthirsty covenant that Hamas and the people who elected them live under that no other countries in the world dares adhere to. It is an ideology so extreme that no other Arab country in the world is willing to accept these people immigrating into their countries due to the extreme position held by so many of its people and the would-be consequences of importing this self-destructive ideology into their lands. Remember, Egypt shares a boarder with Gaza and has the power at any time to allow the people inside to leave or import any goods they want. But they don't. And for good reason.

Great interview. For those who know Peter's work over the last decade or so, it becomes clear that he has a brand/schtick, helping boost his popularity, especially in the last few years. But even more essential in this popularity is his relative accuracy with trends, if not specific timelines. This is especially true regarding his long term work on geopolitics and demographics. Regarding short term analysis and predictions, he is a valuable tool in the toolbox, but name ONE individual who magically has all the angles within a week of a conflict occurring, I'll wait. And YES! of course he has his own blindspots and allegiances, so what? Just accept this as true and use the information as part of a much larger composite. He is cold hearted and self motivated, which makes him a potent researcher/analyst.

I find that over time I have learned that Zeilhan is THE go-to source for honest and pragmatic assessment of complex geopolitics.
He is ONE source for these things. But he is often a bit too numbers and simple ideas focused. Still a great input, but missing a lot of things too.

Something to note, the video Hamas released of them training for urban warfare and learning to fly their para motors, the training camp used in that video is located at 31°20'22"N 34°16'09"E. Hamas has been using it to train for this attack for at least a year. There is no way they didn't know this was coming.. It's hard to believe that they didn't know. It is also unbelievable that it took their military 6+ hours to respond to the attack.

If you are wholly ignorant and get your news from Twitter and Fox News then its perfectly possible that Peter is full of crap. It sounds so different from the news sources you are used to, but that doesn't mean its wrong, it simply means you don't already know a lot about history and geopolitics. For instance, you could read books on modern Iranian history and the history of Hamas. You could read books on the structure of maritime trade, etc. But that would require you to make an effort so, whatever. He is famous now because he predicted the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine in his previous books.

The thing about Zeihan is that he is fluid and articulate and barely pauses to take a breath. But when you start to examine what he’s saying it’s a lot of categorical statement and oversimplification that don’t really convey a depth of understanding of these complex situations and relationships. He’s also very quick with predictions, which rarely pan out.

His best format is 5 minutes breafings, nice and short, he is lacking knowlege for a more serious discussions that arent logystics and world trade.

It was thought by some that the loss of that generation’s immediate personal native language capability and lived experience could not be directly replaced.

Many of the houses & farms employed Palestinians who they considered “ Friends” to work for them. They were part of the 1,000s of Palestinians who enter Israel every day to work then return to Gaza. Many of These Israelis living in certain Kibbutz that were hit are pacifist & peaceful & thought that by building close relationships with their neighbors in Gaza, speaking their language, learning their culture they could endear themselves to Palestinians & it would eventually lead to peace. How naive they were as reports are coming out that some of these Palestinian workers were also gathering Intel on the Kibbutz & relaying it to Hamas for the attack. Anyway, I agree, there’s no replacing that aging generation & their lived experiences & relationships . Trying to build new ones is nearly impossible between the two sides.

Wait, did he say we have two carrier strike groups in the Mediterranean just to rescue US hostages? If I did hear that correctly? that is...well...wrong. The US does not need to have a carrier in the region to rescue hostages and certainly not two, I can't even really connect the dots on that one. It could be I misunderstood or maybe being it is a podcast he misstated what he means. The US moves carrier strike groups to project power, mostly as a deterrent. That is the point today. Not sure why the US would need a carrier to rescue hostages in Gaza, they can use multiple airports in Israel if needed. The point of the carriers and other US navy assets in the region has nothing to do with hostages and everything to do with keeping Iran and it's proxies out of the war.
No, US doesn't want to launch fighter planes w bombs from Israel to support a hostage rescue of helicopters. That would seem too much like a full alliance. And Israel is about to kill 100,000 and ignore US requests for moderation, so we want to stress it's not a full alliance and each is free agent not coordinating. I'm not sure US even has fighter planes and helicopters based in Israel, we can't just assume US has extra 100 air craft there.. So Biden is sending in some extra carriers with nothing better to do .....

I personally know and am friends with a few palestinians. Where I'm from, we have quite a large arab/muslim population, many of whom would say that they are "palestinian" despite maybe their parents being refugees from another middle easter countries. I take Peter with a grain of salt. His analysis of Ukraine in the initial phase of the war was completely wrong, and he made a complete fool of himself in his analysis of the drug cartels. On this point, I do agree with him. But what I've come to learn about Peter is sometimes he falls in love with the sound of his own voice and just says things for the sake of an audience.

I really detest the tiresome "open air prison camp" rhetoric which he repeated several times. Nobody is keeping the Palestinians from turning their strip of land into another Singapore, or a nice seaside resort. However, instead they spend all that money they receive for weapons to attack their stronger neighbor. Why? It's in H_m_s founding charter, and they aren't shy about it: They don't want peace, prosperity and freedom. They want to end every single Jew. Simple as.

I'm from Germany and have given a lot of time in the last couple of years to find out about the underlying dependencies and Elite agendas. What stunned me really was, that my conclusions do not differ much from Peter Zeihan's comes to substance. Glad to discover, that we come to very similar results on both sides of the Atlantic, cause he is really a source of wisdom. Regards to him from just another Peter

I can't help but assume that when Peter uses the term "open air prison" in Gaza that he's implying that Israel is the one that holds the keys. If not, I wish he would clarify what he's talking about in that it has become a statement used by Hamas to indict the Israelis. So for all those who hear the term and think that Israel is committing a criminal act--as per its implications--I would like to clarify a few things.
1. In 1970, three years after Israeli occupation of Gaza, the population was 343,000. Certainly small enough to exist in the area of Gaza. Since then due to extremely high fertility rates, the population stands at 2.3 million making the land area too small to live off of. Does this mean that land needs to be taken from Israel in order to accommodate the rising population?
2. Israel has allowed residents of Gaza periodically to work in Israel where they make substantially more money than in Gaza itself. These periods of time were never cut short for no reason by the Israeli government but by terrorist actions committed by Hamas.
3. The very first proclamation in the Hamas charter calls for the destruction of Israel.
4. Hamas was voted into power by the people of Gaza despite this proclamation presented first and foremost in its charter.
5. Depictions of the "crimes" Israel commits by most major news sources rarely mention what led up to the actions Israel takes as if the reprisals weren't responses to Hamas terrorist attacks but merely fell out of the sky as if they were taken at the random whimsy of the Israeli government.
Hamas has never given Israel an opportunity to live in peace alongside Palestinians under any conditions but Israel's destruction. How is a country supposed to respond to a neighbor with this ideology? How do you accommodate that? This "open air prison," (which somehow has managed to see its population rise by an order of 8 since Israel first took charge of the area not from the Palestinians themselves but from Egyptian control) exists under extraordinary conditions, but this is due to an extraordinarily declared racist, bigoted and bloodthirsty covenant that Hamas and the people who elected them live under that no other countries in the world dares adhere to. It is an ideology so extreme that no other Arab country in the world is willing to accept these people immigrating into their countries due to the extreme position held by so many of its people and the would-be consequences of importing this self-destructive ideology into their lands. Remember, Egypt shares a boarder with Gaza and has the power at any time to allow the people inside to leave or import any goods they want. But they don't. And for good reason.
You're forgetting one thing. Hamas was created by Israel and as recently as 2019 Netanyahu himself was fund raising for them. Yes, fun raising just 4 years ago. I think this whole thing was a Netanyahu set up.

Great interview. For those who know Peter's work over the last decade or so, it becomes clear that he has a brand/schtick, helping boost his popularity, especially in the last few years. But even more essential in this popularity is his relative accuracy with trends, if not specific timelines. This is especially true regarding his long term work on geopolitics and demographics. Regarding short term analysis and predictions, he is a valuable tool in the toolbox, but name ONE individual who magically has all the angles within a week of a conflict occurring, I'll wait. And YES! of course he has his own blindspots and allegiances, so what? Just accept this as true and use the information as part of a much larger composite. He is cold hearted and self motivated, which makes him a potent researcher/analyst.

Vary interesting concepts. At 70, I long since have learned the value of the story behind the story in history, to get a better understanding of what really happened, who was behind it, and why. But this was a 1st in understanding current events and what is really going on, between all the players. Thank you.
