- really glad i watched this, i made this video v last minute and i was using a new editing software to work on it but it surprisingly turned out well! kinda proud of this despite its obvious flaws. let's hope my channel doesn't get nuked for how much footage i used LOL

I really loved the ending of the movie, with them finally being united together and riding off into the sunset to fight Shocker together. Plus the last suit design there is just perfect. Also as a fan of the original series I stuff like the two government guys being Tachibana and Taki and Ichimonji taking over for Hongo for a bit after Hongo's leg was broken, kind of like what happened to the original series.
the leg breaking part was my absolute favourite, honestly a bit mad i forgot to mention that in the video

i plan on watching the rest, at the time of making this I was on I think episode 25-ish of 1971s kamen rider? I'm on episode 42 and i plan on just going in release order now, checking out every other show and movie

About the Habitat:
It sounds less like "you're not allowed to lie" and more like "your ability to lie has been irrevocably taken from you". Which, on some level, sounds a lot like Hongo having his ability to be an ordinary person being irrevocably taken from him, now that he's an Aug/Kamen Rider.
yeah like a part that's kinda bad but is still absolutely a part of you being taken away. i just think it's interesting how much we cling to our flaws, even I don't like that concept, being human inherently implies some faults and we wouldn't want them taken away or we'd not feel human, crazy
I will always adore a final fight that lays bare what is beneath by taking away anything satisfying from it, making it clear that they are both just children fighting in the wake of pain struggling to grapple with the pain they've had to live and how they live with it. Which is why I absolutely love the final fight
that's true i regret making a point against it in the video, i thought about it more and realised i can't imagine how you would direct that scene without ruining the focus on what's going on, it would take away from it
Also went back and saw the film again, I balled my eyes out at the end
The other 50th anniversary project (that isn't part of the main series), Kamen Rider Black Sun, is also a really well-done remake that's driven by powerful messaging. I really recommend watching it as well. It's not necessary to watch the original Kamen Rider Black for it, but it does give some background.
i think I've seen that in some other video yeah, but I've mentioned I do plan on otherwise going in release order through the series
About the final battle:
Considering how Shin Evangelion (E 3.0+1.0), Shin Ultraman, and this film handled the "Final Battle", I think how the battle between Hongo and Ichimonji VS. Ichiro was handled was deliberate. Not just in that it devolved from a fight between Augs to a struggle between human beings, but because any attempt at action spectacle now (as opposed to the Double Riders VS. SHOCKER Riders fight earlier) would undermine and distract from Hongo and Ichiro's arguments. It's becomes a struggle between who each character really is under their Aug masks.
For comparison, the final battle between Shinji and Gendo starts out as an actual battle framed like a tokusatsu fight, but it doesn't solve their issues at all. Even Shinji recognizes it and puts his lance down. It's only in the following dialogue between father and son that their issues are resolved, and that things can be set right. Similarly, Shin Ultraman's final confrontation isn't with destroying Zetton with help from humanity; it's with a conversation between Ultraman and his superior officer, the former convincing the latter that all of humanity-including the human he tied his life force to-is worth saving. Both are rather difficult arguments to make as actual clobbering, so both pointedly *don't* use violence to make their point.
i didn't read your last para as I haven't watched the Eva rebuilds and don't want to spoil myself but that is something i vaguely considered, I did think about how I would rather the fight have taken place and it was difficult to imagine how the debate could've been given priority had the fight been more entertaining to watch, I see where that's coming from, i should've mentioned that in the video, thanks for explaining it

shin ultraman and shin kamen rider is for me is a great remake with shorter pace and mostly a homage to the original seriesit just focus on the lesson not for the story cause it the same thing but just new. ultraman lesson is no matter big and strong you are other will judge you and this world is larger than us while kamen rider is about the advande of technology and greed of people trying to control others
haven't watched the other shin movies but that's an interesting take, i never thought abt the greed of people, i mostly focused on the aspects of dealing with loss and the gap between who you are and who you want to be + what it means to be human
in the video i mentioned that the last scene was disappointing to me and this was somethign i thought about more and realised there simply was no other way to do it. doing it with more flair would make it harder to communicate the point, if anything doing it this way communicates it better, it takes away the flair and breaks it down to show just how pointless all this fighting is, there's nothing here. there's no reason to do this. making it "fun" really would've defeated the purpose and this makes it more of an argument than a fight (without actually making them sit and play chess or something)

yeah they cooked so hard w that, was really disappointed with the first for how it handles cyclone (although that friend i kept talking abt thought it was alright so idk)

Some Kamen Rider seasons have movies and specials that take place between certain episodes. Some are canon and important to the plot, some aren't.
Thats a thing to watch out for when getting into this show.
It may be a good idea to check a season on the Rider wiki before watching so you know what takes place between which episodes.

@@placeHolder-tj2od also, there's over 50 years worth of content here. you aint gonna see all of it unless you just have a lot of free time to kill every day. if that doesnt sound like you, i'd suggest just getting into the seasons that look coolest to you.
after the original creator died, different seasons had different head writers, so you're gonna get an entire different show in each season starting from 2000 onwards. there's gonna be seasons you like, seasons you dislike, but you're in for a unique experience no matter what.

The "water is alive" discovery in The First was just so fucking bizarre. I know Inoue has some weird ideas but this one takes the cake
LOL i didn't want to waste much time on the first and next movies since the video was already starting to feel like it was taking too long to get to the point but GOD i loved that. those movies might have turned me off by trying to feel grounded but i do really love how cheesy they felt, especially with just randomly showing you the water crystals and you go "OHHHHHHHHHHH TEH WATWATEWETEATWATETRWATEWR"

You should give Kamen Rider Black a shot. It can feel a bit bloated in some places due to it being tailored for child audiences, but at the time it was very much the ultimate evolution of what series creator Shotaro Ishinomori thinks Kamen Rider should be. Although the manga version might serve as a more accurate representation.
As a matter of fact, I consider it to be the "original" Shin Kamen Rider...
... despite there already being a confusingly title "Kamen Rider (New)" (a.k.a. Skyrider) and later a standalone "Shin Kamen Rider Prologue" movie.
