absolutely ridiculously incredible! i'd be really interested in seeing some details on the workholding. i couldn't see how it was done on any of the parts featured here.
I highly recommend this machine! Accuracy comparable with bench mark Hermle, and so many features witch other brands only dream of. Such as a really usable CAS (Crash avoiding System ) that really works. Also Gear skiving is top notch. Only drawback IMHO is the relatively weak HSK spindle, if you want to have rpm. They have also Big Plus spindles witch are stronger, but with less rpm. All in all a top end machine.
Is this the Space Center? We had 10 of those at GE Power Systems Airfoils. Awesome machines! And how do you get one for your apartment? First cut a hole in your floor and pour 3 feet of concrete into your downstairs neighbor’s ceiling.

Yes, for most ferrous machining, coolant isn't needed or desired. Non ferrous can get around it with diamond (PCD/MCD) or diamond coated and DLC coated tools.
Who took your jobs? on what planet would you machine an impeller manually? that'd take weeks. Cnc machining has changed engineering, It's created different jobs, hardly taken any away though. Unless you're an unskilled production line worker. Even then you can more than likely get a job as an operator in a high production machine shop pressing the big green button and deburring parts.
Nice video, good machine..... But GROB is much better. You need to compare quality, technical service and repetibility to see that GROB is one of the best brand that you can get...
Zog, Just take a look at the product offering of both companies and talk to the OEM's to see what they use before you carry on with your assumptions. Mori literally does not even BUILD a machine that can handle large 5-Axis work with true positioning within microns. Maybe if you throw DMG into the game; but they are not a good heavy-milling machine; and it is not a Mori Seiki. Again....LARGE PARTS.....AEROSPACE ! ....Think Mitsui Seiki.
Faster vs machining it all at one time? Is your labor free once you take the foam/wax off the machine? You still have hours of processing. All that aside, a machined impeller is stronger and will likely have much better balance at high speed.

If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it. This is a 6-figure type of machine, could even be 7 figure if options are included. CNC of this capability is like the leading edge of manufacturing and prototyping technology. It's serious stuff.
Automatic tool changers are amazing. Sometimes I can use up to 30 tools on a single part. That's great. Just explain to me when I would need to use 300+ tools?!?!? I don't know any more.
Eggsr2bcrushed also if you want to load a machine for multiple operations or multiple different parts, that way you only have to change the fixturing and all the tools are already in the machine, to save time more tool positions is never a bad thing, ever
+Eggsr2bcrushed These machines can be setup in a cell type environment. 300 tools seems like a lot by really aren't when you have to stock common taps, drills, and reamer sizes for a family of parts
You need to do some research yourself Zog. Mitsui Seiki's are a premium machine tool that is built to last twice as many hours as the Mori's that you refer to. Especially in high-alloy applications and low-frequency machining. The machines are built quite differently. I'm not saying the Mori is bad; but it's not a Mitsui Seiki and it does not have the same capabilities. They are a much lighter - duty and production built machine. Not even in the same league. Stick to turning !
Wow! Drool! Incredible piece of modern technology with unlimited possibilities.

This is just a amazing machine all around
Also. 5-axis auto tune!!!!! So easy and accurate. Twice the volumetric accuracy of a Hermle. Not sure about others.

Hope to achieve
@Jake Smith You must be fun at parties. The CAD Work is done and im currently getting ready to order parts.

How can i get this machine installed in my apartment?
move out of it
you'll need 3 phase power to start. Move your washer and dryer, knock out a few walls and then look into raising your roof by about 2-3 feet ;)
We had 10 Okuma Space Centers (I think that’s right) in the GE machine shop where I worked. Magnificent machines.

wouldn't it be faster and easier to machine a propeller from foam/wax and then cast it ?
that really depends on the application of the part.
