    Thanks for all your production work and all of the new information about the NEVS version. I have a working 900 Turbo manual transmission with 247,000 miles (purchased new) and a 2006 9 3 Aero Convertible and love them both! Luckily I have both a private Saab and "dealer " mechanics within driving distance. Both cars can always do what my driving style and transportation needs demands from them.

    my father in-law came from Sweden in the 90s he was the head manager of the port of operations in New Jersey. I inherited his production prototype 9000 and I have the 09 93.

    Will these cars meet the same safety standards of past Saabs?

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Great question. I hope that's a high priority for NEVS, although I'm not sure if they have the same safety standards Saab did

    • @areasevenpro
      @areasevenpro 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It would be embarrassing if these NEVS cars don't get a 5-star rating from Euro NCAP.

    • @trollhattanclassics
      @trollhattanclassics 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it will, the NEVS 9-3 is based on the Saab 9-3ePower from 2011, and this was the first Electrical Vehicle which was planned for the production in Trollhättan. So, I think the chances are great.

    • @MikeKay1978
      @MikeKay1978 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      EuroNCAP requirements change all the time, so if you are basing a new car on an old platform it will be impossible to reach new safety requirements. remember that the SAAB 9-3 platform is of age. it doesn't mean it will not be unsafe but it will not reach 5 stars.

    • @Buc_Stops_Here
      @Buc_Stops_Here 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends how you are asking the question, areasevenpro. If you are asking if it will equal the safety of the old 9-3, it should as it is the old platform with an electric powertrain. However, it will not have most likely the latest safety technology (automatic braking, automatic braking on cruise control, lane deviation, etc). so it will not be able to get the highest rating. So yes, same safety standards but that is not necessarily best in class.

    Long time Saab fan here, love my 9-3 Aero. It's hard not to look at the release pictures without wanting desperately to like it. To be honest, when I stand back and look at them without being swept up in the excitement (as I did at first) I don't think they look particularly nice. Ugly? No, but I'm not overly convinced. It's odd because they are obviously saab-based, but to me it doesn't look quite right. As for the interior, I really do think that is ugly I'm afraid. If you look at the pictures for more than a few seconds I found myself saying, 'hey that doesn't look great does it.'. But I'm sure it will be tweaked and Im happy to be persuaded and obviously, it's very subjective.

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it's all subjective.

    What do you think about the Gift from NEVS for the Saab Museum, the 9-3 Turbo with new Incas etc ?? People in Sweden called the car the last real Saab from Trollhättan..

      The model 3 starts at 35k, with options it'll cost a lot more. My guess is the 9-3 will cost a little less, maybe 30k-ish base price

    I am questioning some of the bulges and bumps in the exterior, are they there just to avoid GM complaining about the clean cut lines of the NG 9-5? Could do with more aero cleanup since it's all electric now. Curious to see how NEVS do tri-spoke wheels.
    Yes, it's the details that determine whether NEVS will sink or swim. Need to see what not-top-end trim levels look like, the ones people can afford to buy.

    Nevs first cars built on the phoenix platform will be ready for production in 2020 according to Nevs President Mattias Bergman on swedish radio. It will be a bigger car, 7 seater. I agree with lots of comments being made here, like on the chinese design influence. But also lots of details i really like. Overall its not love at first sight. But then again..thats how i felt about the 9-3 many years ago back and now i really like it..

    I heard that NEVS made a petrol version of the new 9-3 and they gifted it to the Saab museum. But anyways, I heard that they said that you won't be able to actually own the 9-3. They only are selling them to fleet companies and as a service (ride sharing). It's a pita that they won't actually sell the new electric 9-3 or the petrol version they made for the museum 😔

    I am also a SAAB fans and I own a 2007 SAAB 9-0 Aero.... yours 2003 - Arc ! !
    Man, the side mirror which you claimed you don't like it.... Look, Lexus already developed'
    a similar kind of side mirror which you can project an imaage that you can view on the wind-shield. This design / device is to lower the cD ( Co-efficiency of Drag ) of air current pass by
    the car body which is aero-dynamic.... So, don't comment something you just " don't like "... This is the latest technology ! !

    I'm not sure what to make of it. You can still see the 2003+ Saab 9-3 body on the side panels, the back-end looks a little weird because of the lights, and the front-end reminds me of the 2010 Kia Optima. All in all, "weird" is the best way I can describe it, although that's probably because I own a 2005 Saab 9-3, so this thing looks a bit like an Asian Abomination. Either way, the interior is nice, and hopefully it'll shape out to be a really good electric car; who knows, might even buy one one day. :P

      Well I never said it was a Saab

      I know you didn't say it was a Saab, But it seems like they were trying to capture that magic and just failed.
      Why even call it a 93. unless they are trying to draw in the diehard Saab fan base.
      SHAME ! SHAME ON THEM! I CONDEMN THEIR BLASPHEME ! ;D

      Mark Newman India pledged to only sell electric cars by 2025, even if they're late that's the goal, easy to believe some EU nations and some NA nations will say the same thing in the next several years

      Yeah I'm not saying this is something that will happen in the next five years, but within the next few decades, I'm sure almost all cars will be electric. Just my take on the topic

      ***** i will admit that the instantaneous torque is quite fun, but however, it's still nothing to an enthusiast. No engine sound, no gears to shift, no turbo to tune, it's basically... nothing besides a gas pedal at that point.

    Next time...
    Make more video with the car, and less with your face...
    Its possible to listen to what you say without to see your face.
    Why do we have to see...you?

      Seriously? This is a brand new car, so there is very limited pictures and video of it. I can only do so much
