I think it's just Lego being lazy and wanting to make sure that the pupils are properly aligned (has that ever been a problem in the past or does not having pupils speeds up the production process?) although IMO they're going with old data that says kids and some adults don't want to make eye contact.
The Ackbar trooper is a perfect resource for clone trooper bodies to pair with custom helmets! Now you won't have unused Lego helmets lying around when you buy a custom one.
Just to be clear, inflation means that the Star Destroyer is a BETTER value than the Light Cruiser, not a worse one. With inflation, the SD "should" cost about $185 today to equal what the Cruiser cost a few years ago, so getting it for $160 actually a good thing!
Lego's price increases can simply be considered "lowered value for the same amount of money" What Ryan is saying is that even though both sets had the same retail price, the Destroyer is a lower value by a magnitude *beyond* what you'd expect from inflation alone. In general, Ryan believes that Lego's price increase (aka value decreases) are outpacing inflation. Many (probably most) people would agree.
@JorgeHernandez-gm5fk I don't think that makes a lot of sense though. As shown in the video, the two ships are overall about the same size and mass, with the Destroyer slightly favored by interior space. If they're similar in value by that metric, they should cost the same. However, if the Light Cruiser came out today, based on inflation, it would likely be priced higher than the Destroyer. Vice versa, if this same Destroyer came out in 2021, Lego would likely have priced it at less than $160. That's why the Destroyer is actually a better value today, given Lego managed to produce a ship of similar value and NOT bump the price up at all.
@@RandomCommenter-jx6rr I mean, the light cruiser is considerably longer. But I agree with you that new ISD is fine in terms of "value" when accounting for inflation. Although the Cruiser is more "special" given there are a dozen star destroyer sets. However, Ryan is stating that he considers the Cruiser to be better than the ISD even accounting for the modest 2 years of inflation.
@JorgeHernandez-gm5fk I get what you're saying, but I'm saying Ryan is literally in the wrong here. He's confused how inflation works, thinking that the new one has a worse value proposition 3 years later, but inflation means that the newer item at the same price as the older item is actually a better deal. That's what inflation is, and this is a fine example of it. Lego didn't "shrinkflate" the new Destroyer to keep it at $160, nor did they bump up the price to account for inflation. They kept it the same. Ryan just has it backwards, which is why I made the original comment.
@@RandomCommenter-jx6rr Ryan is saying that the new $160 ship is worse than the old $160 ship and it is expected because of inflation AND because Lego is putting out worse product over time (beyond what would be expected from just inflation). Obviously using purely piece count or mass (or interior space) doesn’t support this claim, but Ryan just likes the Cruiser that much more.
So if they are doing the no pupil thing and poor Jabba ends up without. Then by that logic they are gonna have to do it for the dinosaurs in the Jurassic sets which will clearly look absolutely terrible.
