Indeed, I have traveled to most Buddhist countries in the world and stayed at several temples and it's my personal opinion that Ajahn Punnadhammo is one of the very few monks who can rightfully be called a monk. Truly worthy of gifts, worthy of hospitality, worthy of offerings, worthy of reverential salutation, an incomparable field of merit for the world 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙇♂️
The Thai Forest Tradition has produced exemplary monks and nuns, from the Ajahn Mun and Ajahn Chah traditions there are still many teaching, they are all I listen to because they are serious about their vows. Ajahn Punnadhammo's Dhamma talks for years now, incredible. The struggle is real to accept what is and unattach. 🙏

Bhante🙏🏼 my understanding is that ancient Indian culture pre-Buddha was very balanced in terms of women’s rights. The subjugation of women co-relates with Islamic invasions, which was post-Buddha.
Sigala was as the time a business man so the Buddha spoke of taking half of the income to continue invest in the business. I always wonder how can a modern slave (doing 9-to-5 job) divide his earning, where should that half goes?
To improving your work conditions, spend it on learning new skills, getting accredited, so you can get promoted and earn more, or use it to start something else on the side so you can earn more in the future.
These are the highest ideals. One who is perfected (arhat) would have no fear arise within them even if their very life was threatened. The reason for this is one who has reached the highest goal does not take any aggregate as a self. So if something threatens to terminate the body, well it wasn't theirs to begin with. Without a sense of self being lost what would their be to fear?

..but surely sometimes yielding to fear can be a good thing.. no? What if you are being chased by a bear?

I guess one does not have to feel fear to run away from the bear. Maybe the problem is more often that a bear may attack humans because it is afraid.
