    Any day outside shooting is better than any day inside working. Good ammunition test.

      Thanks frank. This one was recorded a few weeks ago. Was going to head out this weekend but it is going to rain the whole time. Sigh.... Should have another chance at the end of the month.

    Great test one that I’ve been looking forward to as I own a Ruger single six SS with a 5.5” barrel for a lot of years now !
    What a great pack revolver , I sure like mine !

      Thanks again for watching Norman! The single-six convertible is one of the most versatile revolvers around. Although to be fair I rarely use the 22lr cylinder myself.

      @@texmexshoots I have shot more .22 WMR through mine over the years then I have LR!
      I had to shoot my way through a lot of brands before I found out what brand it liked and it was a little picky !
      But when came down to tight groups the Win. Xpert and American Eagle was the ammo !
      It just didn’t group the CCI ammo line for what ever reason ! One other was Federal it did okay with with groups good enough for wild chickens in trees !

    I just ordered a 6-inch, and this really helps me as I begin to look for ammo. 35 years ago, I sold my first Single Six to a friend, and am looking forward to having another. Your review will help me narrow the field. Thank you!

      Than you for watching! The 6 inch Single-Six is a great size. Good sight radius to help get more accurate shots. I still use mine quite a bit. I wanted the shorter barrel version for a better fit on my belt. That being said, the 6'' is more useful and gets more velocity out of the 22 mag.

    • @t.davidgordon2425
      @t.davidgordon2425 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree with your reasoning on every point. No one had one in stock in the 5.5-inch, and the one place within a 30-mile radius that could order one for arrival in a few days could only get the 6.5-inch barrel. I love the aesthetics of the 5.5, and have a Pietta clone of a SAA in that size (.45) and a Ruger New Vaquero (.357) in that size. But my original Single-Six was a 6.5, and it shot better than I did, so I really cannot lose. As you say, part of the reason for the Convertible is the considerable gain in power from the .22 WMR, and the 6.5 will improve on that. Also on accuracy; though few people know it, the .22LR and .22WMR are not only different in length; there is a small difference in diameter also. Obviously, the barrel must be cut to the length of the larger diameter caliber (WMR), lest the bullets get stuck in the barrel. On the Conversions, the barrel (if I am not mistaken) is cut for the WMR, not the LR, which may rattle around until the gas expands it enough. The WMR should prove a tad more accurate than the LR version; in the one I owned 35 years ago, it was.

    Very nice. I like the adjustable sights so you need not worry about Kentucky windege. Plus I like that shorter barrel too. Good shooting and thanks for sharing.

    I have a Ruger Single Six Convertible blued old model 3 screw with 6 1/2" barrel. Bought it back in 197. Still have and will be keeping it. Love this little pistol

      I bought my first single six back in the early 2000's. It is a 6 1/2 blued new model. Still have it and still shoots great!

    Nice video just found your channel had a stainless convertible with a 5 1/2” barrel years ago and let it like an idiot for a song and dance thinking I might go for the single ten now but they are expensive

    • @texmexshoots
      @texmexshoots  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have gotten quite pricey! The single ten was a great idea. They just didn't produce enough of them. Hard to find and like you said, pricey.

    Is the 22lr cylinder less acurate since 22lr is .002 smaller in diameter and using the same barrel?

    • @texmexshoots
      @texmexshoots  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That is an excellent question. I have found that the 22lr is actually a bit more accurate than the 22 magnum when using certain ammunition. However, that may be a result of having more access to target grade 22lr vs mag. I may have to do an experiment with it's favorite 22 mag and 22 lr to see which one it likes best;

    I found this model in blue at a pawn shop for 450$ with no box...is that a fair price?....still new to revolvers

    • @texmexshoots

      Depending on condition, that is a good price. Especially if they have both cylinders for it.
