AS farmers, we are thankful for baling wire, baling twine, a can of nails, scrap lumber,AND JB WELD. We just patch things up the best we can and say that'll hold until we can properly repair it. Then, we get so busy that we over look it and it breaks again and we repeat the same process saying practically the same thing again;"I'm gonna have to fix that properly someday!", but we never get around to it. Funny how that works. I patched a whole muffler with screen wire and JB Weld once. It had a hole in it as big as; well, it had a huge hole. It held for quite a few years. JB Weld! Good stuff!
Wilson, it is good you take good care of your MF tractor that will last many more years providing good service. Blessings to you as you make fun comments.
...and a few years later in the 70's, Quality passed away. It was shot dead by greed and engineered failures. RIP Quality. You were replaced with plastics.
I just acquired the MF 3165 with the loader missing. I'm currently replacing the pto shaft, oil filter adaptor, all filters, and the hydraulic fluid. It was yellow originally being the industrial model but has been repainted red and grey some time ago. I look forward to putting it to use on the farm yarding trees and prepping fields for planting. I'm originally from Lakeview, Oregon, and moved to northern Florida back in 2020. Back in the 90s, I worked in the woods packing saw in Lake and Douglas counties and lived in the Willamette valley off and on for decades. Oh, how different things are down here. I'll let it go at that. Your videos give me a taste of home and trips down memory lane on a wooded path. Thank you.
Wilson I would always get on the tractor before you start it , I know 2 people who where ran over by a tractor that wasn’t suppose to start in gear .fortunately both lived but were badly injured.
This one is very finicky about having the gear level in the right position or it won’t start. But what you say is a good point. That switch could fail. Thanks for that suggestion.
@@WilsonForestLands I wouldn't sweat it too much Wilson, it looks like you've only started that tractor in this fashion maybe about 20 000 times!! I think by now you have the stand on the ground and catch the exhaust tin down to a fine art!! Anyway I'm a real fan of this even if jackkoshollek isn't.
A big Walmart, or a Jo-Anns fabrics would have some inexpensive vinyl upholstery material for a seat cover. You can just use one piece and wrinkle it over the corners. I used to use kitchen counter -type contact adhesive, to glue around the back side onto the metal. A little gorilla tape will hold together the back while the glue sets up. Use some Bounce dryer sheets to rub on the wires, seat, steering wheel, and tuck it in a non- flammable place; to discourage four legged visitors.
Now that's what I call a torque wrench 🤣 I don't know if they even sell JB here in Spain but I used something similar to fix the exit from the pump of my "wheelbarrow sprayer" (whatever it's called in English). I hardly washed it, certainly not as well as you did, also it was in a harder position to apply the same methods. But hey, I can't remember when it happened, I think it was before the pandemic, and it's still working. Mind you I used it less than 10 days a year,, less than 2000 litres in total, but no leaks at all. Is it pretty? nope, does it work? yep, just like me with my PPE on.
I cleaned this one up well but I have had some cases where I didn’t clean things up so much. It still stuck and lasted a long time. They don’t make many torque wrenches like that but this one has served me well.
Man Wilson, you just showed to the whole world that you don't know the proper way of fixing tractors. Us proper people use duct tape. OK, Ok, maybe I use JB Weld also, but only in emergencies. Alright, maybe I use JB Weld on 90% of my repairs in life, but I'm not a going to admit it. Another great video.
Great video my friend. Very informative and interesting. My father has a 1975 Belarus. Always look forward to the next video. Any news on your cabin build ?
I haven’t wanted to deal with that with all the wet weather we have had this winter. We’ll have to see how this spring goes, if I am too busy harvesting timber or have time to work on that.
no way, my last name is actually Ferguson and I could recognize them in our village at age 3, but I didn't recognize this one.. We only had red (farming) ones here . our neighbour had a 1970s model that he used into the 21st century.
I have had them chew up gas cans, oil cans. I know someone who had one tear up their dozer seat. One popped a hole in my uncle’s wood splitter tire. Rude.
Without a grapple the shorter forks work better for moving logs around in a lot of cases. Longer ones can get in the way and it does help maneuverability.
Europe too . I am still using some of my grandfather's tools as well here. I guess we can say mankind was smarter 50 years ago. (but not 80 years ago, when they were busy killing each other worldwide) not everything was better in the past
If they only built machines as well today as they did back then. Guess there was too much money to be made in selling replacement parts, and eventually new machines when customers got fed up with the endless barrage of overpriced parts.
"Click" was the funniest thing you've ever said. 🤣
Came here right after he said it 😂 I flipping love this man and his hilarious, dry wit, running commentary. God bless this man! ❤️🙏🏼
I was wondering if anyone would catch that. 😁

Mudhoney😮 what a blast from past. I absolutely love the humor. Keep it up. Awesome machine, love the oldies. Stay safe, and God bless
Yeah I forget all about them. Until I use acetone.
Pay close attention to what this man says. There is a lot of real world wisdom in what he says!
I am sure it helps that your family takes good care of your equipment.
Perfect torque on that drain plug sir
I am glad you noticed. 😁
Wilson, it is good you take good care of your MF tractor that will last many more years providing good service. Blessings to you as you make fun comments.
Thank you. Hopefully it will last, and hopefully when something does break I can still get parts.
JB Weld for the win!
Emergency kit: JB Weld, DuctTape, baling wire (rusted, of course!), Illuminated magnifying glass,
I think that pretty much covers it.
Old stuff is always better stuff!
...and a few years later in the 70's, Quality passed away.
It was shot dead by greed and engineered failures.
RIP Quality. You were replaced with plastics.
My vw diesel I cracked the oil pan, drained the oil, cleaned it up, JB weld, it's been 4 years, no leaks
Neighbors have the same machine - love when I have to borrow it!
Clean surface is key for jb to work good.
Good video Michael.
Thank you Dave.

I have fond memories of spending time in the Warner Mountains near Lakeview. I hope to get back over there one day, maybe make some video.
@@WilsonForestLands yes sir. My old stomping grounds. I'd sure like to see a video from that part of the world.
Enjoyed your video . Humor is good for the soul.
I once fixed a golf ball size hole in an oil pan with a tin can patch and JB weld. It never leaked!😊
I believe it. I imagine it would last at least until you forgot about it and didn’t have to worry about it anymore.
I've gotta get one of those torque wrenches.
It’s more of a talk wrench
A happy engine is one with clean oil..😉👍
That’s what they tell me so I keep doing it.
Thank you brother you are entertaining
I bet that the bear cracked the fuel tank just like it messed up the seat. It was mad because it didn't know how to operate the tractor
I hadn’t even thought of that. I should have known it was the bear.
@@WilsonForestLands you have to keep an eye on them. They're tricky
Mudhoney, you're cooler than I thought. : )
Another awesome video! That tractor don’t look a day over 25 years…. 🤣🤣
You may need to look a little closer. 😂
Love my Farmi
Cool video Wilson. I have made a few repairs with JB Weld. good stuff.
I have too and sometimes the JB weld outlasted the thing I fixed.

Good idea to put the date on the filter, why have I never done that ?
Probably for the same reason I didn’t do it for a very long time.

Good tips, thanks. Maybe just tuck the dryer sheets up under the vinyl upholstery.
Good old jb weld let ‘s not forget balling wire both ARE A GOOD FIX ALL
I was thinking after the JB weld cures, I could cover it with duct tape, then secure it all with bailing wire.
Really enjoy your videos. Can you please make one on preparing for Y2.1k?
That’s a good idea, especially now so we will have 76 years to prepare.
Whoa 5:55 stuff it in the crack I like that. 😅
G morning brother
I had an idea someone would comment on that. 😂

If I really want to fix it right, I will cover up the JB weld with duct tape. Then secure that with baling wire. That oughta hold it.
@@WilsonForestLands Are you from my hometown? I like that idea. Have a great one.

As always a great can catch. Thanks. No hydraulic filters or fluid change?
I don’t change hydraulic fluid as often. Probably due one of these days.
If you use Marine Tex sealant on the fuel leak, it works faster and better.
Thanks for the tip. I will have to look that up.
The hours meter works?! 😮
It’s still moves. I just don’t know how accurate it is anymore.
Great content, I think you could make a video out of nothing at all and I still would want to watch it.
Thanks for the comment. I may have to try that sometime. A video about nothing. 😁
Nice machine. No pre fill on the filter ? Thanks !
Knowing me, I would make a big mess trying to pre fill the filter and putting it on full.
no way, my last name is actually Ferguson and I could recognize them in our village at age 3, but I didn't recognize this one.. We only had red (farming) ones here . our neighbour had a 1970s model that he used into the 21st century.
My uncle had one of the red ones from the 60s. He sold it recently because he didn’t need it anymore, but it was still going strong then.
Bears have torn n chewed up our atv seats also
I have had them chew up gas cans, oil cans. I know someone who had one tear up their dozer seat. One popped a hole in my uncle’s wood splitter tire. Rude.
My question is why are the forks so short? Have they worn down that far or for maneuverability in the forest?
Without a grapple the shorter forks work better for moving logs around in a lot of cases. Longer ones can get in the way and it does help maneuverability.
When is the next live stream
That was some torque wrench😅
North America was a smarter continent 50 years ago.
Europe too . I am still using some of my grandfather's tools as well here. I guess we can say mankind was smarter 50 years ago. (but not 80 years ago, when they were busy killing each other worldwide)
not everything was better in the past
50 years ago was about the time they made me. 😁
I have a lot of old tools from back in that era. Wait, did I just call myself an old tool?
I had to look up that tune. Sorry you had that in your mind.
It actually didn’t stick in my mind as long as I thought it would.
If they only built machines as well today as they did back then.
Guess there was too much money to be made in selling replacement parts, and eventually new machines when customers got fed up with the endless barrage of overpriced parts.
Yeah and that situation only seems to be getting worse.
when is the next livestream
The plan now for the group live streams is the third Saturday every month. The next one is scheduled for March 16.
Not funny, friend!
I had to look up the song "acetone" by Mudhoney, and now. with any luck, I can try to forget that I ever heard it.
If it’s going to be it’s stuck in my head at least I know it will be stuck in other peoples heads too. 😂
