- This is an unboxing and overview video of the new Edifier Airpulse A200 active speaker system designed by Phil Jones. They feature a 5.5" aluminum woofer and horn loaded ribbon tweeter with active crossovers all powered by high quality class D amplifier biamplified. They retail for $899/pr and we are set out to determine if they impress us twice as much as the S2000Pro models we reviewed previously at 1/2 the price.

I see of this brand more and more, the company must be growing
I bought my first edifier back in 2010. The model was C3, a 2.1 speaker system. Sold it to a friend of mine since I was away on my job and it was collecting dust. I regret selling it till this day. Fast forward I got me a RCT1000 for my original home and R1280T for my flat where I stay for work. The first one sees less use as I stay there for about a week or two in a year. The second one sees heavy use as it's always playing music when I am home. Paired it with Ifi BL nano and wow. I am very satisfied for now.
I bought the Spinnaker mainly for the aesthetics to match a room. I knew it would sound decent but I surprised how refined and natural it sounded. Hell not would I ever sell those.
Sounds like the perfect bedroom system! Just connect to a streamer from Cambridge or Denon and you’re solid
I have a pair of Phil Jones, AAD home theater tower speakers that I really enjoy. He used to own a company called Platinum Audio, these A200s look a lot like they did. I can't wait for the review!
Edifier I know from selling some computer speakers over a decade ago. They were nice for what they were. They horn loaded ribbon brought me in. I can't think of where I saw that before.

I recently bought Edifier P 17 model bookshelf/ computer speakers.
I bought knowing FULL well that they aren't prescribed as mains
My intent was to use as "Dolby Atmos dedicated/ Yamaha presence" satellites to sit on top of my main DefTech BP10s pointing upwards.
I remember your video review on the build /performance of a couple of marketed "Atmos" speakers, and that they left you wanting.
I must say that my recent cheapie experience with these GORGEOUS baby speakers has left me happy so far.
The Bass is impressive, which is what I was shooting for in this Presence-role that they were filling. The heft, and build quality is also impressive.
I will now look forward to watching your review on these A200s. Edifier appears to be a significant contender making EXCELLENT performers out of practically nothing. AND their boxes are gorgeous too.

I have a pair of 1280T for my bedroom and it was the best $100 spent on audio!
I used to have a set of r1280db's for my laptop & 55' tv, did the job perfectly, couldn't have asked for better speakers. Then bought a pair of S1000MKll's. Then bought the Airpulse A100 to replace the 1280's on the laptop & TV. They have a sub out incase I want to expand the sound but I am happy with my Edifier's in general.
Have the s3000pro and stands and absolutely love them. Can play DSD direct using internal DACs.
The S3000pro sells at the same price. I wish I knew which is better. I do know the 3000 has no cable and connects wirelessly.
These might be the most worth buying Edifier speakers in the states since they normally jack up the price(1.5-2 times) with the lower end stuff (R1280T) while shipping to America.
I have the Edifiers 1850 dB for 200$ with the sub out. They are by far the best powered speakers for that price out on the market, they also sound very good and look really good too.
Don't complain about the cable. If you only offer your speakers with a proprietary cord, its better to have it long than to be too short. Besides, some of us may need the extra to run under or around furniture or other objects.
I just bought the Edifier R1700BT Bluetooth bookshelf speaker to replace my aging Logitech computer speaker, and boy was it a huge improvement. I even got to listen to my classical music without getting fatigued after one recording. Unfortunately, I had to upgrade those with the Monoprice MM-5R shortly after due to the Edifier's lacked of a subwoofer out. Even so, they're still a great bargain desktop speaker with admirable bass punch for its diminutive size.

I am most interested in how these measure and sound. They look very well built and use the latest DSP crossover and Class D amplification technologies, I'm guessing they will prove to be a great value product. Looking at the spec sheet you show, I wonder exactly what they mean by Phase Correction tweeter, I'm guessing it is some sort of reference to the highpass filter properties. Just a jab at Matthew as we went back and forth over the use of the term waveguide versus horn awhile ago, does he consider this a waveguide or a horn, or both. He has a strong opinion on the terms based on Earl Geddes work decades ago and they are used interchangeably on your video here and in general illustrating the confusion left after his effort to define the difference in his view of the matter.
I've been using the S1000DB speakers on my PC for about 3 and a half years. They do a good job at sounding bigger than they are with great clarity, and can bathe you in stereo sound with a quality recording. The only way I'd replace them as my computer speakers is if another better sounding speaker came out at a bargain that also had a sub out port or at least high level inputs.

I have s2000 s3000 r1850/t5 and airpulse 300s so ok I am a edifier fan boy. Oh I and it's October 2022 and I just unboxed my airpluse a300 pros..I am like a litter kid yeeaaaaah 😊 and man they are something else. The 300s were great but the pros are so good.
I would like to see a review of the Edifer S3000Pro. Please let me know when you have one.
I have the S1000DB. I use them almost exclusively for vinyl playback. Love them. I bet these crank.
Hi Gene. Glad you are doing well after hearing you had COVID. Good for you :). I am thinking of these for TV viewing, but too bad no sub outs. I may consider them for music listening too, not sure. I have to evaluate what my room will better accommodate: stand mounts or floors. At 15 ft wide x 25 ft long and a drop ceiling of 6.5 ft and a listening distance of about 11 ft, I am thinking that a nice pair of stand mounts and a sub would do the trick, or perhaps a narrow-like floor stander like the Elac Carnia FS247 perhaps...Stay healthy Gene.
I've always been really interested in Edifier's upper end speakers, but they never seem to feature any analog out or sub out options. That's just a must have for me. I hope they introduce that into their future models.

All good and tasty, but as far as I know, the S2000 Pro (or another Edifier model) does not have a "horn loaded ribbon tweeter". These ones, yes, they do. :)

Edifier are great loudspeakers. In fact they let me question why I spend all this money for my Hi-Fi System ...
The finish on these look dope, man. I'm a sucker for redish cherry wood cabinets. Hope they sound as good as they look. I feel your pain though Gene, trying to open the damn things up. Reminds me of everytime I buy a big bag of potatoes. I know there is a simple way to undo those strings (even watched some videos on it); it all looks so simple when someone else does it. Me...I just end up cutting the top of the bag off. Don't got the time or patience for all that knotted tomfoolery. LOL!

Gene, I get the 'too many late nights' sentiment, but isn't the tweeter the gorgeous thing ABOVE the (mid)woofer ? Unless this is a coaxial speaker and that's an elaborately designed port, I fear that your arrow may be pointing to the woofer while you talk about the tweeter, but I look forward to the follow-up testing. Thanks for the vid.

try Edifier S3000 pro
THAT is the comparison I think many of us want to see on YT, even if Edifier have clearly moved the A300 to the top of their product line (particularly as the price on the S3000 has dropped). I don't really care who Phil Jones is (and to be honest, I don't worship anyone named Jones) but its interesting that Edifier are now prepared to name the designer for one of their products. Gene's dyslexia aside ('A2000 S Pro' - I guess he's not joking about ADD), the S2000 / S3000 are incredible value for money compared to any other powered speaker I can think of.
SVS has a nice one for a good price too
You should try the tannoy gold series 8" very cheap 114 DB noise level each dual ab amplifier about $400

I have cheap Edifier powered speakers. £110. Probably better than my£1500 vintage Scandyna receiver system...
Waiting for the in-depth review of these A200's.
I bought the Edifier S880DB a couple of years back after reading positive reviews but man(!) the metal dome tweeter (Titanium-laminate dome treble driver) was too bright and over powering for me specially with the compressed computer audio. I wish they include the (1) Subwoofer-Out (2) HDMI with ARC and most importantly a (3) Silk dome tweeter in the next iteration.
But what of treble control?

oh man. what happened to Audioholics. this is next level amateur quality; from the script to the camera quality, to the candle lit basement aesthetic..It takes you more than half of the video to get them out of the package? wtf? AND you've had these in storage for 6months? That's pretty disrespectful to Edifier if they sent you these for a timely review, not to mention the fact that a review 6 months late means much of the curiosity and interest in the public would have died down..
But i guess why bother making a concise and informative video when you can stretch it into 2 videos. I guess you'll get to hear yourself so much more... TF
