When I hear current famous singers like Kaushiki singing it's even more acutely felt how lacking in soul their music is compared to Kishori tai. I was lucky to hear this concert live

There is no difference between kishori tai and Kaushiki ji on technical aspect but there is a lot of difference on the aspects of feeling emotion (भाव) and thats the major difference between kishori tai and all other classcal singer... she did not sing for entertainment and for show off she sings for music...
Absolutely agreed. Kaushiki Ji's performance is very very technicalities oriented, but only in the superficial form. Her music does not connect to the general audience. It is not meditative. You cannot close your eyes and be transported from her music. She keeps forgetting what 'khyal' actually means. It's imagination. Tai, on the other hand, would refrain from showing her technical prowess in an obvious and disconnected manner and would sing in such a fashion that everyone is transported to a different meditative place. I have seen her explain this in her various interviews. I once remember in Yaman she sang a different bandish, I was surprised that one hour has passed and she has not even sung one tana or bol tana, gharana believers would say that it is not pure gayaki as she has to display the classic Atrauli-Jaipur taan gyrations. But then she intercepted and told that the mood of my bandish is very very calm and in order to maintain the same ras I won't be singing any tanas or bol tanas. I do not think anyone in the history of Yaman has completed a 1 hour 20 minutes performance without a single taan. She was just marvellous.

One must have done some sadhana to really be able to even the comprehend how she weaves the notes and blends the most unimaginable pieces into a garland and reaches sam, listeneres are taken aback, awestruck...what did she just do is the typical reaction.
Tai has explored numerous commonplace raga just the way no one has ever done before. There are some very very commonly sung ragas like Bageshree, Malkauns, Yaman, Jaunpuri, Bhimpalas etc. You think you have heard enough of those ragas and that there is no further exposition needed and then Tai's rendition comes. She so gently caresses those unexplored parts of these so common ragas that you think how could someone have missed on so expressive sections of these ragas. Her approach is very cerebral, scientific and spiritual as she used to say herself. One can witness these in her renditions.
i have heard kishoritai say in an interview that when she sings her main focus is to get the perfect set of notes and half notes and the embellishments and she prays to the raga to be able to present it at each performance . who is the male voice from 36.24.--what is there to say about her performance.
dont think so, if i remember correctly, she sang only once in Vasantotsav pune, and that was Bhoop and then it was stopped by Police.. she left stage disappointed..
