Dame Edna Everage Interview with Gay News (London 1978)

A previously unheard candid 1978 interview of Barry Humphries being interviewed as his best known character Dame Edna Everage by Keith Howes who was the features editor of Britain's pioneering fortnightly publication Gay News. Topics include Dame Edna's love/hate relationship with her bridesmaid Madge, the sexuality of her son Kenny, same-sex marriage and the police brutality at the recently held first Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
The interview was held at the English Speaking Union in London to promote Dame Edna's upcoming theatre show A Night with Dame Edna at the Piccadilly Theatre in the West End.
