    Love your list of activities/accomplishments during your mini retirement! I left my job with a school district after 22 years and started my own educational consulting business, which morphed after COVID to focus more on remote editing work. Seven years later, I’ve realized that the best use of my time at the moment is to learn about the financial aspects of retirement, including things like tax planning, geo-arbitrage and finding the right health insurance plan. It turns out there’s quite a bit to know, and “TH-cam University” is a remarkable resource 😂🤷‍♀️

    Found your content very inspiring. I just turned 55 and had several people in my life pass away. I'm pass my prime health wise and the tomorrow is not guaranteed, so I'm going to redesign my life in a way that I can take time extended time break when I want. I'll do this by learning new skills that are in demand and consult, creating passive income through investments, and selling online. Fear has been my biggest obstacle, but now that I'm at the close end of my life span, I don't have much to lose. The idea of regret has surpassed my fears, so I'm making the change. It sounds that you've been through a lot of pain. But it seems that you want to make the most of your life and have a plan, and that's half of the deal! Very happy for you that you're making the change you want!

    Would you do a mini-retirement in the next few years? If yes, what would you do, if not, why? What are your concerns and doubts?

    The same concept-of not “batching,” applies to the current American K-12 school calendar as well. Research shows that students lose a lot of ground (roughly 6 weeks’ worth) due to the 10 week summer vacation. Redesigning the school year to include more frequent, shorter breaks would benefit students, and teachers. In addition, many teachers would use “vacation” time to fine tune the curriculum to more effectively address the needs of students as the school year is unfolding. Our school did this, and it was transformative!

      Your channel is great. It’s just a matter of time before a lot of people know about it. I like your videos you make it very fun as well but maybe if you could consider changing up things like the setting, or something. That would be great as well. :)

    It is a fun experience to have when you are having a burnout… but don’t retire for too long, life is boring without fulfilling careers

    • @MultipleCareers

      That’s true, that’s why it needs to be well planned and have a clear goal. After that you go back refreshed!

    very topic :) question is how with that you can plan kids, children's school etc.. Do you have children's ?

    • @MultipleCareers
      @MultipleCareers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a very good and pertinent question. As someone who does not have kids (yet), i'm sure I don't have the full scope on what is/is not possible. However, based on what I've seen and heard other people with children experience (check out Mr Money Mustache's blog on financial independence), it is very possible to do mini-retirements, even retire early, with children. It certainly requires even more planning, but in the end it all depends on priorities chosen and what you sacrifice for that. E.g., a simpler lifestyle further away from the city, but more time, and so on.

      @@MultipleCareers many parents homeschool (which of course may mean that your “vacation” may not feel very vacation-y😂), but it can certainly allow for more flexibility. And the educational benefits of travel are incredible…

    Thinking about retirement is a luxury for those who live paycheck to paycheck

    • @MultipleCareers
      @MultipleCareers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Living paycheck to paycheck can be changed. It's not easy. But if you want mini-retirements, then the first thing to fix is stop living P2P.

    How can people do this without losing a job, if you are not self employed?

    • @MultipleCareers
      @MultipleCareers  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are several ways. One of them is taking a sabbatical (if the employer is open to it). Or, going on a mini-retirement in between jobs (after leaving one job and before the start of a new one). It's not easy, but I believe it's worth the hassle.

    Did you originally plan for your mini-retirement to be over 2 years? Or did you just keep extending the time?

    • @MultipleCareers
      @MultipleCareers  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It wasn't planned at that time. It was only much later after I learned about the concept of a mini-retirement that I consciously started scheduling it :)

    • @MultipleCareers
      @MultipleCareers  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I have done this. It’s not east but doable. The key is to save money, also geo-arbitraging helps

    Typical irresponsible millennial idea!! Try finding employment and telling them I’m going on retirement every 6 months.

    • @MultipleCareers
      @MultipleCareers  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's not how it works. Of course no employers would let you go on a mini-retirement every 6 months.
