"beyond the sun, beyond the sun, I have a home, home, beautiful home beyond the sun"----- this is what the final song says, it is a popular song of the church in Mexico
Steven is not only Marc's way to disassociate from his past trauma (brother's death and his mom's abuse), he's also an embodiment of his love. Steven embodies the love that Marc has for his mom and for Layla. Steven regularly calls his mom to share his daily experiences and he loves ancient Egypt and French literature just like Layla. So while Marc could not bear to see his mom one last time and forgive her or properly open up his feelings to his wife, deep in his heart he loves them both and Steven is the proof of that.
@@CarlieAndAnge I'm sure we will. If Marc was able to pass through the Field of Reeds after the scales balanced, it only makes sense that Steven did as well since both of their hearts were in there.
I never thought Disney ever had a need to put a trigger warning about trauma and psychological side effects on the viewers for a damn superhero tv show :/ Rough one, but brilliant acting and narration and visuals.
We haven't seen Jake Lockley yet (or have we?) I think Marc created Jake Lockley not Steven in that room as a child to deal coping with his Mother beating him. Steven doesn't remember that and seems to remember a loving Mother not a cruel one as we see Marc turn to Steven start to talk on his cell outside the funeral to his Mother not realizing there is no answer. Also we have seen in this episode not just Marc and Steven talking to Doctor Harrow in the Asylum but possibly Jake (the patient with the broken nose) as well. His name has not been said yet but it's been implied he's been there.
@@bsimester2010 that was confusing for me because Steven seems to remember saying "before mum sees it.", but supposedly not remember her beat him up, as Steven?
@@zahrulexe yeah. Either Jake took over or the whole point that Marc pulled Steven out of the room saying "you're note meant to see this" is s symbolic parallelism that Marc also pulled Steven out last second to take his beating. But yeah, definitely not Steven Taking the hits no matter what.
As someone who has a somewhat similar relationship with their mother, this episode was really hard to watch… When you have mental health issues and watch a show like this that you can relate too, it really touches the heart.. the part that broke me is when he’s walking away crying at the gathering. I have a lot of animosity towards my mother and I’ve always said that the day she “passes” I won’t give her the satisfaction But at the end of the day it’s still your mother… So seeing him walk away crying because he’s so conflicted is too real
Sorry to hear that mate. I’m sure she loves you, just in her own deranged way I suppose. Nonetheless there’s people out there who loves and cares for you always!
I don't read the comics, but I'm 99% sure that outburst in the beginning was the third alter (his eyes and voice were different). I was surprised that this was my faaaave episode so far just bc of how heavy it was. The fact that Steven's a mental escape and kept leaving empty voicemails, like lots of people continue texting their loved ones' phones after they pass. Hit me harder than Jayce at a factory.
@@CarlieAndAnge i believe the boxer nose bandage scene had a different east coast USA accent different than mark. If we think about it: if Marc was scared of his mom, and he turned into Steven right before to clean his room... And not face his mother's abuse.. And Steven didn't remember his mom poorly... So ..... Who took the beating? Answer: probably Jake, his third altar, who's considered i think the strongest and most brutal of them all due to the years of abuse he went through.
@@CarlieAndAnge funny enough my friends thought that i had somehow already seen the episode 5 (even though it's original content is Disney exclusive and we watched it live together) because i called out the entire episode 5 trial and death in afterlife plot since episode 1 and other details ahead of time because i watched it after finishing your AoT reaction so i was steaming in conspiracies here too lol. And if you remember in episode 1 here, Steven was at the museum and he was explaining to w little girl what the trial was about and the girl just oddly asked him "did it hurt, when you went through the fields" and he said "well no, I'm not dead. Am i? Heh" .. That sent me on a conspiracy spiral from day 1 lol. And much like attack on Titan, sometimes some of the earliest earliest random background noise can be foreshadowing so i was ON EDGE when episode 5 came out... Why? Because i was right lol. My friends thinks im a gloating cheat now. Haha In reality, I'm just as nutty as you 2 with my notebook and tin foil hat, and... much like me, you both are gloat and celebrate if you ever nail a prediction.
That was marc. The existence of the 3rd alter doesn't erase marc's traumatic experience despite him being a Mercenary and it was also confirm that the 3rd alter wasnt in this episode
We've seen the third persona of Marc since the start of the series and what I noticed is that the alcoholic and more brutal personality is Jake himself and not really Marc. You will also notice the cut on Oscar's nose has gone. It seems that the Jake persona is the one with bruises and cuts on his face most of the time because he is the persona that Marc created to take all the beatings from their mother.
Yeah and the english alter during his mom's shiva was the first creation of Steven, to cope with his mom's death. The english kid was Jake and the show is deceiving us to think its Steven.
@@TobiNano i thought that too but Steven remembered "before mum sees it", and someone said that Marc might take over last minute because Steven wasn't meant to see/experience that. OR , Jake took over since Jake was the one that's meant to take the beatings. Marc also said that their mum's death was when their lives started bleeding into each other so I think Steven was really there in the room for a brief moment.
@@TobiNano No, Steven was created in the scene we see with Marc as a child. Steven exists for before the beatings, he is blissfully ignorant, and can therefore have no fear, or after they the abuse has occurred, so Marc doesn't have to live with the trauma of having just been beaten by his Mom. Steven was the alter Marc used to escape his terrible reality. I definitely think Marc takes back over as his mother storms in and grabs the belt. I also think that while Marc did receive some of the beatings, since he remembers them clearly, Marc also subconsciously created Jake to take the worst of the abuse. Since Marc doesn't seem to be aware of Jake like he is Steven, I think Jake only took over when the abuse was getting really bad and took the worst of it. Then once Marc left home and joined the army, he didn't need Steven to escape the reality of his home life anymore, so Steven was mostly dormant for awhile, which explains why Marc told his wife he "had a handle on it till very recently". What I do think is when he was in the army, and confronted with the horror and violence that comes with it, the Jake alter comes out again, but now he gets to deal out violence and pain, rather than take it. Since Marc isn't aware of Jake, it explains his comments about going AWOL is a 'fugue state" and getting discharged. Then he goes Mercenary, gets double crossed, and becomes Moon Knight. He meets his wife, and for awhile they are together, go on adventures, and he does his duty as Moon Knight. At some point, Jake emerges again, probably during a very violent fight, and Khonshu makes a deal with Jake as well, since he's as skilled as Marc, but doesn't have any of Marc's ethical hang ups, so he's the perfect Fist of Vengeance. Marc is getting sick of doing Khonshu's dirty work and is worried about him corrupting his wife, so he leaves her abruptly. Then Marc learns about his Moms death, and confronting that brings Steven back in a big way, giving him control and Marc fades back, unable to deal with his guilt/anger about his Mother. Marc is fine with Steven living his life, as it keeps Khonshu away from his wife, so he makes a deal where he will still act as his agent while Steven sleeps, but otherwise, just lets Steven live.... then the series starts.
I think the scales balanced because after Steven Disappeared/Gets stuck in Duat, The third personality which actually knows everything and burdens every single darkest moment of Marc's life is the only one left, which Marc also knows but doesn't disclose to steven, thats why the scales balanced with just 2 hearts.
Or it could be that Steven and Jake are almost like twins. Two sides of the same coin. Aggression and Affection, Persecutor and Protector, etc. Because Marc didn’t acknowledge Jake as separated from Steven, when Steven was lost in the sands he sort of represents all of Marc’s alters. Or at least, Marc wants Steven to be the only one. By discarding all of his alters Marc achieved a kind of peace.
I agree with SwagPotato. Steven and Jake are alters created by Marc, because of his DID and psychological/physical abuse he suffered. These new personalities are a way to the original personality deals with a lot of issues, like "Dr. Harrow" explained. It was interesting to watch the scales balanced AFTER Steven was frozen. That means the whole point is to have Marc as a whole being himself again. Since he hadn't released Jake on the Taweret's ship and Steven helped him to face his darkest moments, he became the whole personality again and found the peace he always wanted, manifesting it: without other "voices" inside his head. In other words, he was healed. I can't see Marc in the Heaven with all these personalities, since they aren't real and are part of the problem (as much as I love Steven).
My hunch about the last episode is that everything we saw until Marc was shot was real -- all of those problems remain to be solved in the real world -- and everything since he fell into the water was his/their journey to the afterlife. The scenes on the deck of the ship were real (in the afterlife), and the scenes in the interior of the ship (the psych hospital) are Marc and Steven's inner world, where alters can interact and where their memories are stored and sometimes hidden. The "Dr. Harrow" we meet there has no connection to the actual Harrow, who's busy freeing Ammit. The fact that Marc is seeing his therapist as Harrow may reflect his simultaneous desire for help and fear of getting help and opening up. Going out on a limb, I'm guessing the third alter appears in the last episode, and I predict we find out what Layla has been up to (my guess: freeing Khonshu).
I think we saw the third alter in this episode. The first time we see Oscar Isaac's character in Harrow's office, when his nose is bruised and he has that bandage across his nose, notice the surprise look on his face throughout that exchange. And notice that he has a New York gangster style accent when he talks. Even his demeanor after his stands up with the glass pyramid in his hand. This isn't Marc or Steven at that point. It's the one who killed those Egyptian guys from the rooftop.
that is an interesting thought, and would make sense i am 100% sure that Ammit has been released, as we saw Taweret say that unbalanced souls were being judged or condemned to the sands before their time
When Steven "calls" his mom at the end, he didn't even make a call. There's a camera angle that shows his phone screen for a brief moment and looks like its maps or some other app open.
That could just be a fluke. I’ve seen a number of times in shows or movies where actors open their phone for a call as their character but the screen of the phone is obviously not on call (i think the best thing is to just not open the phone and keep the screen locked, because putting the phone in your ear during a call irl will make the screen black as if it was locked). And it must have slipped through the editor and director’s observation hence they didnt even edit the screen. It’s not a big deal tbh, but also even as thorough as marvel and this show are on details, they’re still human and not every detail may have meaning.
In this case I think it’s meant to be intentional tho. Earlier scenes just have the screen black like he’s leaving voicemails, but the illusion is preserved. In the street outside the shiva the whole shot is angled upwards, Oscar’s head swivels quite deliberately to make sure we see the screen, and the display is something light colored to be even more eye catching. So I’d bet if they took the time to ensure that the screen looked normal first, and then it changed later, it was a purposeful decision. This whole episode was really about Steven’s perceptions of his mother crumbling. First seeing the darker side of her that was hidden from him, then in doctor harrow’s office he begins to show fear of her, saying “please don’t _bother her_” (which has so much you could unpack right there. He sounds like a scared kid who doesn’t want to get in trouble) then finally he sees how deeply he’s fooled himself with the objective perception of himself on the street. Having a shot of the phone screen really helps drive the theme home for us viewers
We've already seen the third alter Jake, he's the one with the broken nose that everyone thinks is Mark when he appears but neither Mark or Steven has the broken nose when talking to Dr. Harrow.
I think it wasn't Jake, at least not at first; it was Marc. Only until Dr Harrow mentions a little boy does the Jake take over. Marc leans forward, posture changes and the way he looks at Harrow + the accent difference before and after the question. Jake was supposed to be the "tough" guy, so it'd make sense for Marc to "hide" behind Jake. Same as Steven "hides" behind Marc.
fun fact the ending credit song is from an Egyptian movie called (the night when the moon cried) and there is a lot of conflict in the lyrics where the singer says : (sometimes I love myself and love this life) then says (sometimes I feel lonely and how much I'm not happy) its the most perfect song to be used for moon knight and especially for ep5
The third alter, Jake is in this-he's the version with the broken nose and bruises. He's there to take the physical pain that Steven took from his mom's abuse. If you watch his scenes, you'll note he has a New York accent. As amazing as Oscar Isaac is, we gotta say that the actress playing his mom was SO BELIEVABLE! His dad and the kids were very impressive as well. If Konshu brings his back to life, we might see a VERY different Moon Knight with Jake more in the mix. I can't imagine how Marvel can match this moving forward. This is actually as great as Daredevil from Netflix - something I never thought I'd trpe!
Superb. U don’t get this level of storytelling or acting in most MOVIES! So so good. PS. Most folks theorize the Marc in the beginning with the bandaid 🩹 on his nose is the 3rd Alter. He even has a New York/Chicago cabbie accent a bit. Either way I don’t think the 3rd alter is the focus for this season. Just teases here or there. Would be too much. I hope for a Season 2. I loved this Ep. Thanks for reacting guys! 🙌🏾
Awesome reaction! As always, of course. One little thing I'd like to point out, is if you like this show a lot, you can also read the comic it's based on. The 2016 Moon Knight run written by Jeff Lemire is the heavy inspiration, and it's just as trippy as this story, if not more. As a die hard MK fan, I love this show, and I'm so glad you both are enjoying the ride!
Guys!!! go back to Oscar Issac when he is in the therapist room with the broken nose.....THAT WAS JAKE.....the 3rd personality.....listen to his heavy new york accent, and how he was confused where he was even though Marc had already been in that room earlier. also when its Marc again in the therapist room...there is no more broken nose.
Facts that maybe are gonna be important for the plot: In the egycian mythology the god who do afterlife thing is Anubis (God of dead), but here we haveTawaret who needs a lot of memory cards because she doesnt know exactly how this procces works. Also in the myths, Anubis do the scale thing and Ammit is just a beast who kill the souls of the people who's heart is more heavy than the feather. Also in the credit sequence there is a shot with a lot of egypcian stone statues similar to the khonshu prison and one of that statues look like Anubis
Even earlier than that, Khonshu ever being in the Ennead is the first clue the pantheon is in disarray and missing members - he's not important enough to be in the historical Ennead.
So basically the goddess hippo exists in duat, where the scales of justice resides & the place where harrow interacts with mark and his amigos is the "timeout" area where at any point he could seek audience with the feather of truth. Notice how gentle and light(white-another representation of the feather) harrow is when presenting mark with his demons. Also when harrow got to see the dark mark, he said im not your enemy. It could mean a multitude of things, but the boldest point would be that nothing beats the truth. Anyway.. food for thought
The long dead bird that looks like Khonshu was probably there to tell us that the bastard was with Marc all along. That he probably planned Marc's suffering in order to make him his avatar.
11 and one half minutes left in the episode and I had to write. This is so deep I think I might drown. So high minded and layered that im actually surprised I could grasp it and I can't believe that this is a marvel/ Disney superhero show. My head hurts and oscar Isaac's performance is transcendent. I can't imagine where this is going or how it integrates with the mcu. This seems to me to Oscar worthy and am I bugging. Is there even a category for something like this. Wandavision and Loki were amazing but this is ......
I think the reason the scales didn't balance was because he was 3 alters but there were 2 hearts, then when one of the alters "died", he still had 2 hearts on the scales, but he now had only 2 alters left, so it fit and they balanced.
I believe there was a banner on a bus in one of the previous episode that refers to the institute that's helping with people deal with the whole "snap" situation. The hippo goddess, Taweret, also makes reference to the Ancestral plane, witch ties into Black Panther. I think I recall the director or producer of the show comment in an interview that this does take place in the MCU, but whenever they tried to think of a tie in crossover thing, they surprisingly couldn't come up with many that fit organically into the story, so a lot of them are very subtle.
That tease on 3rd Personality in Episode 3/4 just make us think in this episode about the 3rd Personality a lot of the time.. They didn't even show a glimpse of it 🤦♂️😂
I think we have not seen the last of Steven yet, as the main highlight of Moon Knight comic series has always been Marc and his two personalities. I do hope that in the finale, there would be a tease on the third alter, making way for season two. It's not Moon Knight until these 3 alters come together. You'd be happy to hear that Moon Knight isn't a standalone hero, as in the comics, he's fought along side with several other notable superheroes as well, which I hope Marvel will bring it to the screen one day.
When he was in the doctor's office with the broken nose. He had a real thick accent different from Steven and Marc. That was Jake. Jake also popped up in earlier episodes when during a fight and people died but Steven and Marc didn't know who did it.
im late but this only just occured to me. The reason why the third alter didnt have an effect on the scales is likely because Marc as the original likely never acknowledged Jake so his heart being full never needed to take account of the third. He only ever had Steven bcs the third handles the anger/aggression in him even unknown to Marc
I loved this episode so much. If you guys haven’t watched it and want another show where one actor really makes you believe they’re completely different characters you guys should check out Orphan Black, a wonderful sci-fi and character based show. Like your reactions and look forward to more!
My current theory is Steven was the one who created the third alter (to punish the world like Harrow said), and the third alter went overboard with him. That's why the scale balanced. The season cliffhanger will be when they get Steven back, he's a different person.
😂😂😂 3rd alter was literally left locked in his coffin and a literal god was judging steven and marc's heart. Yall think taweret will let the other alter unjudge and sneak inside steven when marc's alter physically manifest in this realm 😂😂??
I don't think so. Only one personality is real: Marc. The others were created by Marc to deal with his abuse. The whole point is to bring Marc as a whole again, instead of a shattered man. Since Jake wasn't released and Steven was frozen after Marc dealt with his dark moments, he was healed and found peace in the Field of Reeds. I love the alters, too... But we have to face they're result from a psychological disturb, not real persons.
@@JoaoMarinhoSP if that were the case, there wouldn't have been two hearts at the scale. I get what you're saying from a psychological point of view but, they were both(technically the three of them since we see Jake's coffin) in the afterlife being judged and helped not only Marc from a spiritual/surreal point of view.
@@JoaoMarinhoSP making the point that while the other two alters were in fact created by Mark, they all had a distinctive soul in this show. To the point that Jake could be still in a contract with a god unbeknownst to the "real" person and main alter. Steven wasn't frozen bc mark dealt with his trauma but bc he fell, leaving Jake in the ship and Mark to enter the fields...
Welcome to series when Egyptians wrote and direct and put the music for it ,acting ( Layla and others ) and presenting their culture from their heart 🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬, thanks to Oscar Isaac for his amazing performance and for understanding the importance of the deep emotions in Egyptian culture .. I cried a lot in this episode
Hi, so in love with the reaction videos of you two. There's some evidence of easter eggs indicating Moon Knight is deeply tied to the MCU and where the set is in the timeline. #Episode 1: When Steven was trying to stay awake by reading a book about the Ancient Egyptian Gods, there are 2 on the table entitled "What's Old is New Again: Asgard" and "History of Wakanda". #Episode 2: When Steven/Marc were fighting the Jackal on the street near the bus and the transition between Mr. Knight (Steven's suit) to Moon Knight, there's a GRC (Global Repartiation Council)' banner ad on the bus behind. (GRC is an international council that reactivated status and managed recources for refugees displaced by the Blip, first introduced in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, then re-appeared in Eternals through a videotron commercial in London. #Episode 3: When Marc/Steven and Layla visited Anton Mogary's backyard to look for Senfu's Sarcophagus, Mogart's assistant welcoming them and mentioned "Madripoor" (a city diplomatic safehaven for criminals that presided by the Power Broker, also first appearance and introduced in The Falcon and The Winter Soilder). #Episode 5: Goddess Taweret mentions that there are so many afterlife, Marc/Steven gets Duat version and at the end Marc arrives at Aaru (The Field of Reeds) and one of them besides Aaru, Taweret also mentions "Ancestral Plane" which is Black Panther reference and I believe it can be said as an "afterlife" for the people of Wakanda which the Goddess Bast' worshipers (fun fact: Bast is Khonshu's sister). It's also same as Valhalla which is the afterlife for the Asgardian people.
As for the timeline itself, it's certain that Moon Knight takes place in the post-blip due to the GRC commercial in episode 2. The year is uncertain but it takes place around April-July, based on the Ancient Egypt Exhibition ad banner at the museum where steven works that was seen in episode 1. The year could be 2024 or 2025. If it takes place in 2024, then Moon Knight will occur almost simultaneously with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and also Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Oscar Isaac NEEDS to at least be nominated for an Emmy. i also love that Marc/Steven is Jewish, which seems to fit with being based in Egyptian mythology
Not sure if you guys realized but we actually see Jake, the 3rd alter at the beginning of the episode. The one that had a split nose was jake. You can look up for yourself why people think that was jake, because it's a little much to explain in a comment, but his accent is clearly different, with the way he says doctor. He entire facial expression is like none we've seen from either Steven or Mark, and he was overly violent, ready to literally stab himself in the eye. And let's face it, Oscar isaac is unbelievable in this show, and the way I can tell the difference between Mark, and Steven, is very similar to why I immediately assumed that was jake.
24:50 you had a good perspective on that episode except I don't think Marc has to let go of Steven. Since Steven is an alter I.e his own person, and Marc still needs him to function. There's a few interesting theories going around. I have to say my favorite is about Jake. That Steven being thrown overboard balanced the scale because now there was 2 souls with the two hearts on the scale (because of Jake, while at the beginning there were 3 souls for 2 hearts since Jake was still trapped). It's also possible that the duat saw Steven's soul as Marc's and was satisfied to get one Marc soul thus letting Marc go. I think it'll keep following loosely the voice storyline the end of the series is based on. Marc has to do a part of the journey alone, but he'll reunite with his alters later.
I don't know if you saw but he was wearing a bandage in the first scene and he had a new york accent and was more violent im pretty sure that was the other alter Jake Lockley
if you think about it like this, let's say that there are 2 other alters in Marc's system: Marc, Steven, and someone else. When Marc and Steven put their hearts on the scales, they were not balancing. This could be because they should have had 3 hearts on the scale instead of 2. Yet, as we have seen, there is an alternate route where they could get away with having two hearts on the scale by "killing" one of the alters, Steven, so technically, Marc and the third alter made it to the field of reeds. that's my theory, at least
People keep saying that Marc needed to part ways with Steven but I think it is the opposit. I think that when Steven fell of the boat Marc realised that he needed and wanted Steven in his life. The sand-people only went after Marc which make me think that Steven was balanced but Marc wasn't untill Steven saved him and he realised and accepted that Steven was a part of him.
I mean a talking hippo sounds crazy. but so does a big purple alien wiping out half of all life but we got that and that turned out to be real. in the Marvel universe I mean
I’m seeing this theory a lot, the idea that Marc had to part ways with Steven and that’s why the scales balanced - but I don’t think that’s it at all. I think it’s the understanding that they need each other to be complete. They’ve been fighting against each other and ignoring each other their whole dual existence - Khonshu refers to Steven as a “parasite” and Steven has said that of Marc. But in the end they fought for and with each other and realized that they are the same person and have the same shared experiences, and in the end they’re calling out for one another in desperation. I don’t think Steven is gone. He’s stuck in the Duat and Marc is in The Field of Reeds. If Khonshu can bring one back he can bring the other as well, and at this point Marc would make that a demand for his service to Khonshu going forward.
There isn’t gonna be a 2nd season (atleast it’s not planned) this series is just to introduce the character for him to be put into the full marvel movie universe… maybe thrown into the actual mcu or into his own stand alone movie
I really love the decision of choosing Ethan Hawke (who plays Arthur Harrow) to also be the psychiatrist. Most psychiatric patients tend to be hostile and vigilant towards their doctor, so the doctor took form of a villain in Marc's mind. Not just that, having "Dr. Harrow" asking Marc/Steven questions also put us the audience in doubt. We feel the same way as Marc/Steven, as if we're being manipulated by Dr. Harrow although he's genuinely trying to help.
Really felt bad for marc this episode. When he start hitting himself and shouting it scared me then when her mother died and he cant carry the pain that he switch to steven. It broke me inside 😭 isaac is a magnificent actor.. Mom was terrible, its not Marc's fault. It should be the parent who should protect their children and the dad wasn't much any help also. Marc is in the reed Steven in the duat The only one left is the one locked in the sarcophagus they left 😏😏 the best way to introduce the sneaky jake taking full control of the body next ep
Great reaction but you two have to keep in mind this is a world where there are Thor, Loki and Ego the living planet so it's not far-fetched that there are Egyptian gods. I believe in this episode was just the killing of Steven... If you just look at the whole process of the episode, it was Marc trying to keep Steven ignorant of their past but as Steven get to learn more about what happen Marc it closer to becoming whole and Steven become less of a reason to be in Marc's world.
Incredible & heartbreaking. I think (and pray) Steven will be back in the last ep - with DID (from what I've researched, I don't have DID so pls take my opinion with a pinch of salt) an alter doesn’t just ‘die’ or ‘disappear’ when they go with integration treatment (good communication between alters, an acceptance of a system, less/no blackouts when switching etc) . If they want to go with final fusion (merging experiences, traits etc), it takes years and years, a lot of work and a readiness to fuse - Steven didn’t look at all ready when he fell off that boat and introducing the third alter and then fusing in the same ep without a chance for the character to breathe would be a weird choice for me. I don't think I'd be mad if they did it as fusing is a valid treatment, I'd just miss Steven and Marc as separate entities, especially with Oscar saying that Steven is autistic (or presents the symptoms of the body autism) so I don't know why they'd do that when the character is so important and unique. Either way I need 3 - 5 more business days to recover excuse me while I return to my sobbing fest
No, the foreshadowing was when Steven was talking to the little girl in the museum at the start of episode 1. She asks him if it hurt when he was rejected from the Field of Reeds, and he responded that it was silly because he wasn't dead "am I" Then he repeats "Am I?"
It appears we did see the 3rd alter... the version of 'Marc' at the very beginning of this episode. You can tell by his beat up face, his 'imaginary fights', his eyes, demeanor, and voice are completely different than Steven or Marc. It appears Marvel is treating Jake as a minor alter, who's sole purpose was to take the beatings from Marc's Mother so Steven could remain completely innocent and oblivious. And of course because of his violent nature, he pops up every once in a while for a SHORT TIME such as in the first episode when he slaughters some of Harrow's followers in that mountain town, and again when he stabs some Egyptians after Marc got knocked out by those knife fighters.
Hi. I can say so far you have got this right. The only detail you have missed if i may help you. The only thing you missed is Jake. Remember the guy with a bandaid in his nose? Look at his face, how he talks. Thats no Marc or Steven. Besides, how come they both dont have a bandaid and he does. Remember when Stevem was going inside the pyramid with Layla? Remember the punch he gave himself? That was Steven, thats why his nose has a bandaid. And the other 2 dont. Also, whenever you see him drinking like an alcoholic, thats Jake also. Neither Marc or Steven drink like that. For instance, at the end of the chapter where he ends up in Egypt. Sitting on the floor with a bottle of alcohol. That is Steven.... cheers guys . cheers
There is a theory about Jake, that in the start of the episode Mark had an injury in his nose, so a lot of people think that might be jake. Because he didn’t had a British accent or an American one, and this looks very unnatural thing that any of them would do
Lmao it wasnt him. Yall getting fooled for that. Marc didn't even open his coffin. He only open the one steven is in 😂😂😂😂 also its was confirmed already that its just marc 😛
@@marka8817 yeah but what if the nose injury was because Marc didn’t open his coffin? Plus it’s okay to have theories.. I’m not an expert but I just thought it makes sense to me
@@orianoknin4944 for me its to bait people. I read that scene as marc mixing fantasy and reality he's in atm. Jumping from different psychotic/mental state.
technically, steven doesn’t physically exist and can only exist if marc exists. so perhaps marc can create steven again? just my interpretation, so i’m not sure.
Carlie & ange, i love you guys reaction videos especially the league of legends and arcane reaction.., your content it's been making my day recently, and I thank to you guys.., I just wanna suggest the new Netflix series that release 2 or 3 weeks ago it's called "HEARTSTOPPER".., I know you guys still on the anime and marvel content, but I just thought, you may consider this series for future content.., Please wach the trailer, so maybe you guys have second thought.., Thanks for reading this.., 😊 have a good day..,
That wasn’t jake, we haven’t seen jake, we might not see jake in these 6 episodes you never know. Plus he doesn’t even have a version of the suit in the show or comics so what are you so hyped to see. In episode 3 that little glimpse we got was just jake protecting himself, not just going on a murder spree….
I think you guys are so current. What do they say in Hollywood? "relevant" or they used to say that anyways. You guys could step into "The Matrix" universe and with a little patent leather? fit right in. Too cool for skool. I hope word abt your channel gets out.
I must say I have been somewhat disappointed in the plot of the show so far. But Oscar Issac's performance and this episode is really excellent, I hope the show focuses more on the characters of Steven and Marc and their dynamic.
"beyond the sun, beyond the sun, I have a home, home, beautiful home beyond the sun"----- this is what the final song says, it is a popular song of the church in Mexico
Ohh thanks!!
That song hit me like a ton of bricks
remember that Oscar Isaac is from Guatemala, I know it's not Mexico but it's still Latin America
@@Jackie-eb2fr facts😭
Really popular in Guatemala too considering that the majority are Christian’s too
Steven is not only Marc's way to disassociate from his past trauma (brother's death and his mom's abuse), he's also an embodiment of his love.
Hopefully we get Steven back!!
@@CarlieAndAnge I'm sure we will. If Marc was able to pass through the Field of Reeds after the scales balanced, it only makes sense that Steven did as well since both of their hearts were in there.
Oh this is a fantastic way to word/describe this!! I think I was understanding that, but you put it into clear words! So true
I never thought Disney ever had a need to put a trigger warning about trauma and psychological side effects on the viewers for a damn superhero tv show :/
Rough one, but brilliant acting and narration and visuals.
Completely agree! This episode blew us away

Oscar Isaac deserves an Emmy for Moon Knight...OMG! His performance is Phenomenal.🏆
As someone who has a somewhat similar relationship with their mother, this episode was really hard to watch…
When you have mental health issues and watch a show like this that you can relate too, it really touches the heart.. the part that broke me is when he’s walking away crying at the gathering. I have a lot of animosity towards my mother and I’ve always said that the day she “passes” I won’t give her the satisfaction But at the end of the day it’s still your mother…
So seeing him walk away crying because he’s so conflicted is too real
Sorry to hear that mate. I’m sure she loves you, just in her own deranged way I suppose. Nonetheless there’s people out there who loves and cares for you always!
So sorry to hear that!! ❤️❤️
Yeah the episode was fantastic, although it was very sad!
Definitely plausible!
Haha
In reality, I'm just as nutty as you 2 with my notebook and tin foil hat, and... much like me, you both are gloat and celebrate if you ever nail a prediction.
Loving the theories!
It's the one who killed those Egyptian guys from the rooftop.
that is an interesting thought, and would make sense
i am 100% sure that Ammit has been released, as we saw Taweret say that unbalanced souls were being judged or condemned to the sands before their time
"I wonder if we're gonna see those traumatic experiences"
Me: "wait for it....👀"
When Steven "calls" his mom at the end, he didn't even make a call.
The ancestral plane that Taweret mentions connects to Black Panther. Black Panther's Bast is an Egyptian goddess, after all.
fun fact the ending credit song is from an Egyptian movie called (the night when the moon cried)
and there is a lot of conflict in the lyrics where the singer says :
(sometimes I love myself and love this life) then says
(sometimes I feel lonely and how much I'm not happy)
its the most perfect song to be used for moon knight and
especially for ep5
Marc is not an alter 😂 he’s the main body and mind.
This channel definitely deserves more subs
Wow thanks!!
They didn't even show a glimpse of it 🤦♂️😂
@@matthewsv yeah that's not true 😋
The third personality is who is talking to Harrow at the start. His voice and mannerisms are completely different from the others.
Fantastic performance from Oscar Isaac once again. King Tchalla once said, "get this man his awards"

Unreal episode! Very captivating but soooooo sad!!!
Me too dude
The father said he doesn't want to lose another son but his whole family died that day.
Interesting theory!!
😂😂😂 3rd alter was literally left locked in his coffin and a literal god was judging steven and marc's heart. Yall think taweret will let the other alter unjudge and sneak inside steven when marc's alter physically manifest in this realm 😂😂??
@@marka8817 She asked them if they were twins, meaning that she did not know at first that they were the same guy.
After Steven fell, there were two hearts and two souls aboard the ship. Mark and Jake, that's why I think the balance finally stopped.
#Episode 1:
When Steven was trying to stay awake by reading a book about the Ancient Egyptian Gods, there are 2 on the table entitled "What's Old is New Again: Asgard" and "History of Wakanda".
#Episode 2:
When Steven/Marc were fighting the Jackal on the street near the bus and the transition between Mr.
#Episode 3:
When Marc/Steven and Layla visited Anton Mogary's backyard to look for Senfu's Sarcophagus, Mogart's assistant welcoming them and mentioned "Madripoor" (a city diplomatic safehaven for criminals that presided by the Power Broker, also first appearance and introduced in The Falcon and The Winter Soilder).
#Episode 5:
Goddess Taweret mentions that there are so many afterlife, Marc/Steven gets Duat version and at the end Marc arrives at Aaru (The Field of Reeds) and one of them besides Aaru, Taweret also mentions "Ancestral Plane" which is Black Panther reference and I believe it can be said as an "afterlife" for the people of Wakanda which the Goddess Bast' worshipers (fun fact: Bast is Khonshu's sister).
I might be wrong about this but, in the first act when Marc is injected, I noticed a New York accent. Could that be the third personality?
There definitely was a different accent! Could be
Not sure if you guys realized but we actually see Jake, the 3rd alter at the beginning of the episode.
When he has a bloody nose that’s not Marc or Steven it’s the 3rd listen to he’s voice is mannerisms.
I cried when Steven fell over
Jake Lockley (The Third Identity) @ 3:59
You guys need to remember Marc in real life will be rise again by knoshu so Marc so original and Steven can be appear again when Marc need him
if you think about it like this, let's say that there are 2 other alters in Marc's system: Marc, Steven, and someone else.
And Emmy goes to Oscar Isaac 🏆
You can see when Steven is on the phone with his mom that’s it not even open to the phone, just some random app. It’s so sad.
😓
Ppl think we seen the 3rd alter at the start when hes talking to Harrow cause his accent and mannerism is different so yeah
Laters gators… :(
This episode shows how a abusive mother to tweret and understanding mother and moon to sun ☀️ (yes I watch breakdowns)
Well said

Marc is in the reed
Steven in the duat
The only one left is the one locked in the sarcophagus they left 😏😏 the best way to introduce the sneaky jake taking full control of the body next ep
Oscar Isaac has been immense!!
new sub. much love! (im reeeaally shy and this is my first ever comment..)
Hey thanks! Nice to have you here with us 😊❤️
Literally gave me mr robot vibes this episode 😣😣 yall should watch it 😋 100/10
Great reaction but you two have to keep in mind this is a world where there are Thor, Loki and Ego the living planet so it's not far-fetched that there are Egyptian gods.
I just realized.
Steven talking to the statue guy in ep 1 and 2 was foreshadowing.
Cuz he turns into a statue later.
kinda cruel Disney
OH NO
i am afraid that's not how foreshadowing works
@@nikhilajmera7686 you right I'm just reaching
No, the foreshadowing was when Steven was talking to the little girl in the museum at the start of episode 1. She asks him if it hurt when he was rejected from the Field of Reeds, and he responded that it was silly because he wasn't dead "am I" Then he repeats "Am I?"
@@nyghtmoon Also when he said he draws the line at murdering child cuz Marc "murdered" his brother. Probably.
He's talking to no one. If you look at the phone, you can see there isn't even a call engaged on the screen, its just a random screen.
That is Steven.... cheers guys
. cheers
The director said it wasn't, he knows what happened to him but if it was Jake he would be clueless.
Carlie & ange, i love you guys reaction videos especially the league of legends and arcane reaction.., your content it's been making my day recently, and I thank to you guys..,
I just wanna suggest the new Netflix series that release 2 or 3 weeks ago it's called "HEARTSTOPPER".., I know you guys still on the anime and marvel content, but I just thought, you may consider this series for future content..,
Please wach the trailer, so maybe you guys have second thought..,
Thanks for reading this.., 😊 have a good day..,
That wasn’t jake, we haven’t seen jake, we might not see jake in these 6 episodes you never know. Plus he doesn’t even have a version of the suit in the show or comics so what are you so hyped to see. In episode 3 that little glimpse we got was just jake protecting himself, not just going on a murder spree….
damn did episode really did confuse you hahaha
I think you guys are so current. What do they say in Hollywood? "relevant" or they used to say that anyways. You guys could step into "The Matrix" universe and with a little patent leather? fit right in. Too cool for skool. I hope word abt your channel gets out.
Haters gon hate
My theory is that Steven sacrificed himself to allow Marc to pass on peacefully , and the third takes the body.
Doesn't the scenes of young Marc with his brother and his mum later on blaming Marc reminds you of Annie animation from League of Legends?
Oh yeah!!! Very similar to Annie and Daisy!
I am not sure if you guys have watched mr robot before but this episode did remind me of that show alot
You guys should start watching Cobra Kai.. Maybe do a Karate Kid 1 reaction before.
Episode 6?
It’s on the channel 😊
@@CarlieAndAnge sorry, I had not seen it
Mcu comment related only
LoL, Stop looking for the third 😆
Haha yeah we gave up at the end of this episode 😆
I must say I have been somewhat disappointed in the plot of the show so far. But Oscar Issac's performance and this episode is really excellent, I hope the show focuses more on the characters of Steven and Marc and their dynamic.
