in fact it does 0-50 kph (≈30mph) in about 3 seconds. its a city car, remember? the break distance is also infact shorter then most motorbikes since motorbikes just have 2 wheels instead of the 4 wheels of a car. the only bad thing is the 0.74g on the skidpad.
I drove a friends the other day, not really a bad car for the price. Great for if you work and play not too far from your home, a lot more stable than you think. Driving on the freeway is interesting, didn't feel unsafe but the fact that it takes forever to hit 60, and passing another car is pretty hard with the 3 cylinder.
@pedrojoper There is a tuning center in California that will turn your Smart into the Brabus you are talking about. The Brabus you see here is the one sold by Smart, which is just the appearance package without the upgraded performance.
@nickmorganmusic How is it not? By definition a cabriolet (which is what the smart cabrio is) is a convertible. Or in other words if the top comes off it is a convertible.
Umm, I can run to 60 faster than that LOL. 122 feet from 60 to zero is good, but for such a small car, it should be 112 or less. Minus the performance of it, I like it, especially in Brabus form. Wouldn't by one though, I'll just appreciate it from afar. LOL, love everyones comments :) .
I convinced my friend who's 6'3" and 300lbs to sit in one of these things at an auto show. His head popped out the top and the thing nearly bottomed out. Then another fat guy joined him. And the wheels were at the top of the wheel well lol
AMEN! My very first reaction was "why?". The purpose is....._______. What's funny is that for the same money you can get a Corolla or Golf TDI and get the same gas mileage in a FUNCTIONAL car.
@Bones12x2 I have the exact same car. its not made anymore. retail was $21,635USD for cabriolet. check wikipedia. Trust me if i could get a BMW 1 convertible for that price i would have.
then i guess you've never seen the american spec standard smart fortwo numbers. or the fiat panda, skoda roomster 1 liter diesel, toyota iq, etc. for that matter, they all go from 0-60 in 19 seconds, while the toyota does it in 14. there are many cars that do it even slower, but these are the ones that come to mind instantly.
@gardnerbm I don't really consider the Brabus edition cheap (in relative terms), especially when you consider the very minimal utility value. Honestly, I would much much rather get a MX-5, Cooper S, BMW 1 series, or even a slightly used S2000 for roughly the same price. I'm not saying it's a bad car...I just don't personally understand the appeal, but if you like yours then thats cool.
@nickmorganmusic Wow you are so wrong. Just Google "smart fortwo cabrio". The passion coupe has the panoramic roof of the tC but NOT the cabrio (even the name suggests cabriolet!). If the cabrio isn't a convertible then neither is the PT Cruiser Convertible (has similar rollbar in the rear) nor is the VW Cabrio.
Yeah, this car is far short of stellar, but people buy it for it's easy maneuverability and great mpg, though similar can be had for a motorcycle in which you get performance. What astonishes me is that there are US cars that have similar performance numbers w/ NO advantages. That's stupid.
One of the weirdest looking cars around. They made it small and lights for good fuel economy but why make it top heavy? I rather have the Mini...it's 1.5 times more expensive but at least I won't look like an idiot driving it
@Neonspinnazz30 I could pull out an autotrader and at least 20 or 30 cars that are convertibles for about 20 and under you can get an 08 mustang gt with leather for $17500 with less than 20000 miles or if you want to go further an 00 vette with about 35000 miles for about $12000 or how about a Honda s2000 with leather seats aftermarket stereo a/c supercharged with over 300 hp for roughly 15 and all of those are stock covertibles
I was kind of wondering why they didnt have that guy talking about the car like he does, but i think its because either he was laughing at it or side "Im not reviewing this pos"!
@Neonspinnazz30 1 who cares if its used you buy a car thats a couple years old its still going to drive like a fairly new car and 2 you telling me that you can go out and "find" key word, a used smart car for around 8 grand or less right? so now it doesnt hold its value so if you think about it, in comparison you are getting a toyota camery for the price of a bmw, over paying for a vehicle that does nothing more than save you a few extra bucks on your gas budget each week
WOOW , the 0-60 times look like quarter mile times... and the quarter mile times look like DAYS... i think it not a smart buy to get this"sporty"version
Why would Brabus build this? Are they trying to hurt their brand name? These smart cars are purpose built for city driving. They should focus on ammenties, cushy ride, etc. that the smart car wouldn't normally have. Trying to make this sporty is lame. Brabus putting their name on it is lamer.

The folks commenting here in the past, they were so great, they must have gone on to great things.
We can only hope hahaha.
I knew a Mercedes tech that had one of these with a straight pipe. Sounded so good!

wow... that thing sounded a lot nicer than what i expected haha lol.
You have to admit, it's a very nice sounding slow car
xD
I love this car!
"Yeah, got me some new Brabus rims today...what size you ask? 12s..."
Smart is an awesome car to drive.
What's the difference between the Brabus and the stock?
The fastest ever recorded in a stock smart was 12.2 seconds by motorweek.
a tough smart car is no more significant than a really tough piece of candy
Pretty good figures, and sounds quite nice aswell. :p
If it needs over a quarter mile to get up to 70, is it even legal for highway driving?
@gardnerbm
I'm referring to the car in this video, not a normal Smart Car. This car will cost somewhere in the mid 20's.
are those automatic hazards on panic stops? if so, innovative.
whats up with hazards on stop test just after car came to full stop
@nickmorganmusic How is it not?
By definition a cabriolet (which is what the smart cabrio is) is a convertible. Or in other words if the top comes off it is a convertible.
It's like a love seat with wheels. Id like to see two NFL lineman in it, I bet the wheels will fly off.

those are some pretty trick rims for stock
The brabus is also pedestrian friendly i hit someone at 80 mph on a zebra-crossing and they got up and walked off.
impressive for a smart car
lolz.. when i saw 14.3 seconds.. i thought wow... fast quarter mile time for smart.... than i realized that was only 0-60 mph... ahaha
totally agree.
@Bones12x2 I have the exact same car. its not made anymore. retail was $21,635USD for cabriolet. check wikipedia. Trust me if i could get a BMW 1 convertible for that price i would have.

so what exactly did brabus do here? :/
what is the point of track testing this car?
TH-cam Diablo Smart Car. Those little things are FAST!
hahaha, The Smart didn't even merit the narrators time. hahahaha
@gardnerbm

0-60 time: one month
quarter mile: when it feels like it
utility: for people really into driving a plastic coffin
brabus is 0 60 miles 9.8 sec stock it s a little moster but for usa is really not necessary
what a piece
Yeah, this car is far short of stellar, but people buy it for it's easy maneuverability and great mpg, though similar can be had for a motorcycle in which you get performance. What astonishes me is that there are US cars that have similar performance numbers w/ NO advantages. That's stupid.
@Bones12x2 If you want a cheap convertible that dosent look boring, this is it. Atleast thats why i got it
that is fucking fast!
its a car at home in the real world, a real city
It only has a 100 hp engine
And it's made for city driving not for trackdriving
banzai!!! it did make it to 60 mph!!!!!
Nope, 20-22k USD
It's missing many of the real BRABUS upgrades causing it to cost less. Damn US customs
Make one with 150 hp and a six-speed, and I'll definitely buy...well...I'll definitely test-drive one. LOL
Test one with the hayabusa engine in it!
Not a bad car for city driving.
Because I don't know where you live, but around here, most of our on ramps aren't 1/4 mile long and there's a lot of shitty drivers...
ma che gomme ridicole ha? la mia monta le 225 dietro e le 175 davanti.
Not to bad on slalom but acceletarion and brake is not so good. Cute and Smart
@benkenobi1990 It's the cheapest convetible in the USA also...None of your sports cars come in convertible at anywhere close to 20k....
I seem to be missing one of my work boots...
@deedundone ya prolly very similar to a VW bug turns on a dim and flips
Looks fast thats just about it.
The crying-shame is Mercedes no longer builds the Smart Roadster...
ok ok, im sorry but that was hilarious
it's smarter than you think
they never do on track ones
@benkenobi1990 All of those are used...Besides, I can find a used smart convertible in AutoTrader for even cheaper that any of those you listed...
lol that's exactly what i said. I would never put my name on anything that takes more time to get to 60 than uhal truck lol
i will buy it..............
One of the weirdest looking cars around. They made it small and lights for good fuel economy but why make it top heavy? I rather have the Mini...it's 1.5 times more expensive but at least I won't look like an idiot driving it

that small but it takes 122ft to stop
i'm surprised by the engine sound
I was kind of wondering why they didnt have that guy talking about the car like he does, but i think its because either he was laughing at it or side
"Im not reviewing this pos"!
it's like... "Not this shit again....Let's do the complete opposite of this car was made for and race it :D "
My only question...WHY?
@gardnerbm
Well, I guess I stand corrected...but I would still spend a couple more grand on an MX-5 or Cooper :)
But to each his own.
here in Brazil that shit costs R$95,000, or USD 50.000
A old Geo metro 1,3 automatic do this in like 15,5 secondes...
A portuguese garage did it...
WOOW , the 0-60 times look like quarter mile times... and the quarter mile times look like DAYS... i think it not a smart buy to get this"sporty"version
This track test is pointless, but its funny!!
LMFAO!!! Is that a car lol it's so cute I'm imagining it get hit by a semi trailer, not a good sight lol.
19.60 seconds to do the 1/4 mile!! Really?! That is deathly slow!
@Bones12x2 Brabus edition
100hp? Are you sure? It should do a lot better than that.
and it;s a diesel too!
A Portuguese dude makes them...
@emantabrizi Move to Europe, BRABUS tunes the hell out of these little commuter cars, I know one of them has about 170bhp.
@deedundone haha yup
there is a reason for them building such cars... you have never been to states huh? :P
this car wont have enough power for my great grandma. she def wont be satisified with this car,
and mercedes benz belongs to daimler AG
@Bones12x2 all of the cars you just mentioned cost more than a smart car, from upper 20's to lower 30's (i dont know about the S2000)
con gli euro che costa , mi prendo qualcosa di piu' serio...
Why would Brabus build this? Are they trying to hurt their brand name? These smart cars are purpose built for city driving. They should focus on ammenties, cushy ride, etc. that the smart car wouldn't normally have. Trying to make this sporty is lame. Brabus putting their name on it is lamer.
that's not a car...
that's an oversized shoe
Geez, for a car that barely weighs more than a golf cart it sure has some God awful track numbers :/
Wow, those were the single worst trakc numbers I have ever seen.
my 96 protege has 92hp and its a 1.5L and it can do 0-60 in 9 seconds and the smart has more hp and weighs less and it takes it 14.3... rlly?
POS
lol. i saw one of these getting towed the other day. i was like "...smart car...? getting towed...? hmmm...?"
I can't believe that Brabus would attach their name to that little piece of ...
haha so true
That's hilarious.
What is the point of this car?
