I have published 3 books with KDP.
All feature lots of images in them.
The copies I have received were printed in the UK and I can honestly say the quality varies greatly.
The main issue being vertical white lines through pages.
I contacted KDP several times with the issue and they assured me it would be reported back to the print centre but the issue still remains.
The brightness / darkness of your images will vary greatly from book to book also. So beware. You may receive a book you are happy with but a customer buying your book could be very disappointed. The copy they receive could look very different to yours.
Having worked in the photographic and digital print industry for many years I know these issues could be solved very easily.
Proper calibration and machine cleaning/ maintenance.
I guess Amazon KDP don’t care about this.
To add to the issue, I’ve also had pages fall out of a book after just a week of receiving it.
A real shame because Amazon KDP books is a great way to publish your book. A fantastic route for aspiring authors.
If only Amazon had a decent quality control department.

So I'm with KDP and I think the quality is super basic, like the opposite of luxury. Does anyone know if KDP or any other Amazon affiliate company does nicer journals?! Thankss :)

Thank you so much for your video. I wish I could publish my coloring books in the US. Here in the EU, the quality is the worst of the worst. They are printed in Poland, and I withdrew all my books, just 25 as I started a little while ago. When I received the copies, I found out the quality is almost as bad as toilet paper. I am so upset. I asked KDP customer service to print my books in the US, but I don't think they will. I am really so sad.

Notebook Lady, I find choosing categories for lined notebooks really tough. I think Amazon does not facilitate this. What categories do you go with?

This was some important information for me as I've seen reports that KDP quality wasn't that "good".. Glad to hear you're selling and 1 book or 35 books doesn't matter as long as you have sales, so congrats! I have yet to really start my KDP journey. Even tho I have 20 books on Amazon (a mix of adult coloring books, appt books, and journals), I paid to have them created so I could see the process before beginning my own. Unfortunately, I'm a long way from re-couping my investment as I've only sold 4 books since they debuted. Hopefully, the books I create will do better. By the way, you videos are very well done!

I'm in the same boat. Paid to have them made. Just starting out..tiny number of sales. I was hoping to have them up for 4th quarter but that didn't work out, so now going to spend the next few months learning about what I could make myself.
