Seriously good collection. I recently bought about 60 WW1 era postcards in auction for £10. Made about £200 so far with plenty yet to sell. Was never into postcards but I am now!
Hi Stu, Thank you for your comment mate, i have learned the photo postcards pull the big bucks but i should do really well with the early printed ones i got some amazing subject matter on them.
I'll admit Walter I'm a bit jealous! Years ago I used to collect vintage/antique postcards and nowadays try to find a good ones to sell. I've never had a score like this! Can't wait to see them all. :)
I have some very old postcards 1900's that have stamps on them and postmarks of course but the postcards are beautiful I have a friend that had a great grandmother that she used to get them to make ideas for her painting she was an artist I would love to to sell them if you like I send pictures
Very useful video. It makes me think I must look at the box of 1900-1930s postcards I have been avoiding for a year! I just find the research so difficult. I have a Louis Wain one and I cannot find the image on it online anywhere. I am not sure if I have something rare or if I am rubbish at research!
Hi Laura, Thank you for your comment, printed post cards can be hit and miss, if you see photo post cards they sell for much more but subject matter sells them, still very much worth looking at.
I picked up a ziplock bag of antique vintage hand blown marbles I did not know they were worth what they were worth need to keep an eye out for marbles like you play jacks and marbles some of my hand blown & had painted..mine are very old
Awesome video I just bough about 35 post cards in Italy all from 1850 to 1920s I also got Mussolini propaganda and two nude belle epoque post cards never used hows that for 7 euros spent.
It is very hard to find good info for postcards on line.. I have so many daying back to late 1800's even those cute valentine's cards these you can tell are from late 1800's . Does anyone know how I can tell what ones are worth keeping and which ones are worth nothing that I can at least figure out if I should sell or donate or something..
Thank you for your comment there is a lot to consider with post cards. Some people collect for post marks. Others collect picture post cards and they are very valuable. While some people collect for the image. The best thing you can do is list them on auction making sure to get good images of the post marks and leave them run to find their own value. Millions of post cards are worth less than 1 pound but they will find their own level in auction. Making sure to use the right keywords and if you list lots you could get repeat customers
unfortunately your postcards, are Hong Kong not mainland China so have lesser value than the Chinese versions however a couple of them do have sought after treaty port postmarks on them, also your cards are printed, and not real photo which do fetch big money
Hi Mike. Thank you for your comment, it is a shame they are not the photograph postcards i agree but there will still be good value here, i bought about 200 for £50 and there are plenty of the ones in todays film sold between ten and twenty pounds as printed examples, they are even selling repro printed cards for a fiver each.
Hi Thank you for your comment, i agree they are not worth as much as the photograph postcards, however there is still enough of a following on ebay for the early printed ones depending on subject matter, there are plenty of the early printed cards between £10 and £20 and when i paid 50 for a couple of hundred the return will be superb.
Hi Katharine, Thank you for your comment, i have learned from making the film the photograph ones sell for the big money but there is a good market for early printed ones too so i will do good. just a shame they wernt the ones worth hundreds each.
