I didn't know you did this. But that was so amazing of you to give 100% of your profits to Texas relief funds. You were just setting such a great example for so many people. Please, keep it up Zack!
There are so many channels that I have subbed to that have had less than 10k subscribers, and then suddenly taken an exponential leap in numbers of not only viewers but subscribers. I hope your channel follows the trend Zach, I think it's not only great content, but important. Here's to you
Watched you on Alone, just started watching you on TH-cam! I’m from the Houston area. Thank you sir, this episode and the shout out Texas meant a lot. God Bless you!
That's the most educational 22 minutes of TH-cam I've seen in months. I wondered about tool sharpening on Alone and figured you guys were impregnatng stropping compound in your leather belts.
I am a 35 year carpenter. I am sorry that I forgot your name. But you are a very good teacher. You have done a excellent job of describing things. I really like that you talked about the sound, look, and feeling of things. 2 thumbs up. Keep up the excellent work!
I never saw the programs you were on. I may have to find them. Your skills are impressive. I have learned many things from you in the last cpuple weeks since finding your 87 days channel. Thank you for sharing.
Good video. I enjoy the Maine humor because usually you're not trying to be funny, lol. Nothing beats learning from someone who learned survival because he had no choice. You've refined these techniques into their most simplest, effective and economical ways.
You are a real human. It comes through in everything you say and do. You share so much. I’m probably walking away with 10-20 simple and practical ideas or skills that not only increase my woodswise but also things you can use day to day. Also you get me asking myself everything I️ see how many uses can I️ get out of something. Really great stuff Thank you
I have that same axe and have absolutely Loved it for several years! The edge is extremely sharp and that thing comes in handy for cutting even more than an axe (for anything that isn't huge). The very first time I went camping with it, while removing it from the car the edge slid against me and I cut open the side of my hand... I had never owned so sharp of a shovel and I wasn't being careful (also didn't have it in a sheath). I recommend it and am sure anyone who picks one up will be glad they did.
I've seen a lot of people making camps in the woods , some I've had to help them with..The first thing I did ( that they didn't ) was to build a saw-horse. It kept my knees off the ground and saved my back. It never ceases to amaze me how a little effort here saves a lot of effort later on , in many different ways. . I've decided to subscribe to your channel , , you've got the 'savy' , , not many do :-)
I think this is a much needed video, because most survival vids neglect up keep of tools over a long period of time. your vid showed me a axe is vastly better than a saw, in the long term, if you have to choose one. a saw is very time consuming to maintain.
Very informative, as always. It's amazing to hear how you put your knowledge, ingenuity and work ethic together in Patagonia - not surprising that you won when combined with your mental strength and the way organized your days to maximize your fish, etc. Your waddle and daub, double walled structure was beyond amazing. Keep up the great work, Zachary. Bet your family and your parents are mighty proud.
im excited to see you reenact your fire And how you kept it going for 50 days. still love your videos man, i'm happy for your life and what you've earned. even though we only worked together for a short period of time, i'm glad i met you. you're a huge inspiration to me and i think you're a great role model to many who care enough to learn the ways of living and learning. 😁
thanks i plan on doing a video all about fire on episode 11 this week im traveling so its going to be my talk that im giving hear in Denver for episode 10
Just a tip, if you want your file to last longer let up the pressure on the return stroke; it only cuts in one direction and you're just rounding the teeth faster by dragging when you pull back. I love your saw vise idea; thanks for sharing!
Great idea with the clay, ld have never thought of it. I always use random rocks to touch up the blade on my edc but that would never work for the edge I like to keep on my hunting and kitchen knives. Imma for sure use this one, BIG THANKS, u da man!
Hey from Australia Jami. Really enjoy your videos. I always learn bits and pieces. I’m planning my next camping project with my 5 year son (first one ever) to be “the duck catheter 3000”.
Another great video sir. I learn more here in 22 minutes than in 100 other videos on TH-cam. Thanks again for helping out my family and friends here in Texas. You're a good dude Fowler. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Friendly advise from someone who restores old tools by hand files will last MUCH longer if you do not drag them backwards they are made to cut forward only but super awesome saw vice your very clever!!
Ok Mr Fowler I myself am going to buy a cold steel shovel off your website tonight fella you just broke my heart bcoz i work with ethiopians and massai worriors Sir .Good luck YO Keep hold of James.pmskl
That is so cool . You can sharpen your knife with the top of your car window. Just roll down the window a little bit and on the top surface you can sharpen your knife if you ever needed to sharpen your knife . I got that from deer meat for dinner on TH-cam thought that was pretty cool . You are such a very cool dude . Your a badass man . If with a slingshot. Glade you like the outdoors. I like being in the outdoors. And going hunting.
Fowler's Makery and Mischief Yup it is . I did not know that until I saw that on deer meat for dinner channel . What brand is your knife that you carry on your side .
Fowler if no ones told you yet, you are very good at what you do!! You are good at teaching survival, you're good at editing, and you are very smart. I'm not just saying this like I'm a fan girl. I really genuinely mean it, keep it up! P.S. I like that song you have at the beginning of the video, do you know what it's called?
Thank you . Not shur the name of the song it comes form a Indie music site, That i pay To be able to use in my videos. As far as I know they're all independent musicians that post their music they're for sale and don't have albums . I will add it to the credits in the discription on the next video
He did everything very well, except, using his file. Nobody ever told him, his file would have lasted much longer if he didn't work his file back and forth. A file only cuts when going forward. When drawing the file backward, it only dulls the file.
fun I had to do some similar I use clay from an embankment and it worked pretty dang good. I was just out for the weekend not life depending on it though. but it still worked good to see you thank you
Nice Vid *smiles* I'm lucky in that where I live it's easy to find flint (cryptocrystaline quartz) cobbles in stream beds. Because of the way they break, you can not only make cutting edges you can also find some chunks that are good for sharpening.
Thanks for making this video, I enjoyed the variety of aspects you covered which is difficult to do while self filming. Your shelter style looks really secure and sound, what is the expected number of days or hours roughly one should expect to make that including having to gather the resources? Thanks
if you are fed well you could do it in a weak easily if not like i was worked on it for 4 hours a day out in patagonia for 2 and a half weeks to make it.
I am an Alone junkie. I loved watching your ingenuity on the series and now I get to watch it at will. This is great! Thank you. Great camera work as well.. Did you learn that while doing the show?
I tried looking for a vid like this a few months ago and this never popped up. I just now see it randomly scrolling threw wtf! Thanks for the neat vid.
I didn't know you did this. But that was so amazing of you to give 100% of your profits to Texas relief funds. You were just setting such a great example for so many people. Please, keep it up Zack!

Watched you on Alone, just started watching you on TH-cam! I’m from the Houston area. Thank you sir, this episode and the shout out Texas meant a lot. God Bless you!
There are a lot of people who advocate little piddly tools. I love the fact you took proper tools. A real axe and saw. Keep up the good work.
That's the most educational 22 minutes of TH-cam I've seen in months. I wondered about tool sharpening on Alone and figured you guys were impregnatng stropping compound in your leather belts.

I really enjoyed this one. your saw vice is a brilliant idea , thanks.
Old Skool! I've folded that shirt so many times on laundry day. My Beau loves that shirt.
It’s hard to appreciate the level of skill that is required to do all of this sh-t until you try it yourself. Well done Mr. Fowler!
I’ve learned a lot from this vid. Thanks for posting.
I am sorry but i can not stop watching your videos ... love them :-)
Your knowledge, expertise and creativity are amazing.
Good video. I enjoy the Maine humor because usually you're not trying to be funny, lol. Nothing beats learning from someone who learned survival because he had no choice. You've refined these techniques into their most simplest, effective and economical ways.

Some things are best left unsaid. Don't let us wonder about your buying cost by not mentioning it at all.
