Plus, being part Black doesn’t make you actually Black. Most Latinos are part Black but they don’t look it or say they are.

Please do listen a serious warning from the past: in Nazi Germany, in thirties&fourties children in schools were taught discriminatory hierarchy based on racial pseudo-science. They had to measure skulls, analise colours of eyes and hair. Fictional "Aryan German ideal apearance" was on top of hierarchy. According to grim ideology, Slavonic people should be mostly murdered. The reduced number should be left to serve as slaves to German overlords. Average Germans were told that Jews and Gypsies as a pests should be isolated and deported to the East, in reality - a decision was made about their final doom. Milions were dehumanised, exploited and murdered. In occupied Poland in Zamosc region whole villages were exterminated. Only Polish children who resembled "suprematory Arian features" were left alive, stolen and adopted by German families.
So, as you see, ridiculous quarrels about percentage in DNA are not funny, they are dangerous. Especially, when the ruthless sociopath is in power and hires people similar to him. The most insane and cruel ideas tomorrow will be your reality. They are implemented steadily, just to make the society get used to "new normal" and ignore the red flags. Do you realise, that in Nazi Germany people mentaly ill, disabled, LGBTQ were isolated and murdered?!!!
So Trump and Musk are part of old reviving evil, which starts kicking now in many democratic countries. Putin's Russia is nowadays more and more Nazi country and secretly supports such parties and politicians inside democratic world to divide and destroy us. So be watchful and solidary, fight!!!
The 11th commandment: Don't let yourself to be indifferent!!!

Hi Danielle, another great video! I have a question...do you know if it was common in the early 1900s for babies/toddler from Africa to be sent to the UK/US for adoption? My grandmother was allegedly born in west Africa, went to England as a baby/toddler and was then sent by her parents (or maybe an adoption agency?) to live with a black married couple in Pennsylvania in the 1920s (who then subsequently adopted my grandmother).
This is the story my family has always been told. I'm building out my family tree, and would like to find some records of my grandmother's time in the UK or move to the US but haven't been able to find anything so far. Its like she just showed up in the US one day and no one really knows who her real parents were or anything.

Tribal politics are a bit beyond me, but from a legal perspective there have been examples of blood quantum and member recognition being weaponized for political purposes and financial gain. Other tribes are struggling with the fallout of existing blood quantum requirements precisely because it threatens their continued existence. These are sensitive topics, so I'm not going to share stories because I don't want to harm relationships by giving examples. But I agree with you whole-heartedly that Tribes have inherited this problem from a system that was designed to harm them. I am sure that most understand this and are trying to find their way forward as communities. As you note it is not clear that this person was a tribal member. Perhaps they are just a recent migrant who is fearful of being deported and are lashing out. Sorry that you got caught in her crossfire.

Thanks, again for a great video! I heard a historian recently make a compelling argument about what really unites humans around the globe. He didn't think religion has done a particularly good job for the most part, especially religions in the West as their "God" seems to be telling each group different things--although a newer envisioning of compassionate "religions" could help. He is not very hopeful about ideology, other than people should be able to have a say over their own lives, so some kind of democracy is likely best, but how that is implemented may vary. No, he believes that recognizing that we are all human, as carbon-based (advanced) mammals who are the dominate species on this planet because of our unique ability to cooperate across vast distances and cultures to accomplish tasks. One of the most glaring examples of that is the worldwide financial system. Nobody is burning piles of money saying it doesn't matter. Consequently, we may need to create helpful narratives to accomplish this goal, but it is a better challenge than some of the narratives we have inherited.

Wow! Pretty lively response for a just posted vid😅
Excellent video, as usual👍 Your marble analogy to explain the limitations in testing for ethnicity is the best I’ve heard yet. I can easily see this in my own family. I’m the only boy and have three sisters. I look like an Aryan poster child, along with my oldest sister, but my other two sisters look very Spanish or Native American due to our Romero ancestry in SW Louisiana.
As for the vid that prompted this response video, it is just an example of the weirdness that results when one looks at history only through a current political/sensibilities/social/victimhood mindset lens. The truth gets buried under the BS and nothing good comes from it.
Making modern claims to land because of ancient ancestry isn’t much better because DNA doesn’t prove we are entitled to this or that. It proves that we are all family. Nothing good comes from being proud of a skin color. Any pride in ancestry should be reserved for our ancestors alone, no matter what they looked like. Because of what they had to endure and overcome, it’s a miracle any of us are here now.
Gettin back to ridiculous ancestral land claims…Wooly Mammoths were here long before any humans were, do we give back the land to them? After we clone them back into existence😅
My favorite historical quote of all time comes from when the last Muslim ruler of Spain, Muhammad XII was crossing the Gibraltar Strait on a boat after having been kicked out of Spain. He was shedding a few tears prompting his mother to reply, “It is fitting that you weep like a woman for a land you could not hold as a man.”
Lands lost, lands gained, it’s just family squabbles, nothing more.

So what country do I go to if I am being deported? 1/2 to Ireland, a 1/4 to the UK, 1/4 to Eastern Prussia (ethnically mixed between Salzburger Exulanten, Baltic Prussian, Lithuanian, and Polish). I might be 2% Native American according to some DNA tests, so do I leave my big toe in North America? Oh yeah my son is 1/2 Ashkenazi Jewish, so that adds more diversity. I've seen this on my family tree as borders shifted a family member could be from a particular city but that city can change countries throughout the years as borders shift. Also these borders are actually invisible man-made lines on a map, they're not real. They're meant to divide not to unite.

  • @hughanquetil2567
    @hughanquetil2567 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

As far as I know, membership in any cultural community has more to do with lived identity and experience within that community, participation, and belonging, then it has to do with DNA. There are some cultural communities where language is also an important aspect of this membership. So many Americans think of cultural belonging in terms of DNA and genetics and this is probably directly linked to the old racist views that used to dominate American society. I have seen Black Americans shout down people from Egypt, claiming they aren't real Egyptians because only Black people are. I have also seen Scottish Americans tell someone from Scotland that they can't really be Scottish because one of their parents is African. So I am not surprised that there would be Latino people who'd claim to be native or indigenous because they assume their DNA grants them membership in some indigenous cultural community - it doesn't. In a more traditional sense, cultural identity is NOT an individual's possession. It's not something one claims, like an old style colonizer claims a piece of land. It's a collectively owned thing that you participate with others in.

I understand many folks there have a similar composition, with some mixed people even being part Germanic like here in the US.

A Latina telling an Italian lady to get off her land because she's not "native"...You can't make this stuff up, especially since Columbus was an Italian being bankrolled by the Spanish crown. Also it wasn't called Latin America because the Spanish colonists were assimilating into local indigenous cultures. If anything she's the colonizer, and needs to be the first one to go according to her.

Danielle, I want to thank your content! This persons claims are ridiculous, if I sell or give up my house (legally) I can’t come back and claim it unless I purchase it back for myself. I understand the claim they believe they were the only ones here before the Europeans arrived (which is false). Historically, the USA paid Mexico for the land and allowed the Mexicans to become citizens of the US.

Instead of speaking out of your ass do some damn research and stop thinking that native and indigenous people of america was just one giant red indian because they weren't and it would be very stupid and simpleton of you to think so
