    Wegen seiner Klarheit und Strukturiertheit ist dies für mich das bislang mit Abstand am besten nachvollziehbare Tutorial zu diesem Instrument. Vielen Dank für dieses sehr hilfreiche Video.

    Great! Can this be used also as a polyphonic sequencer / midi recorder of up to 64 notes of external gear? I use the keystep pro to record live midi parts from various synths via different midi channels (I rarely play mono stuff, more chord sequences etc). This is way more compact and will fit better in my studio. Would you say it can replace the keystep pro and store / play polyphonic midi parts for external gear?

    Glad to see you enjoyed this as much as I did 😁 That's a good point about copying a sample duplicating the name too, it is a bit confusing! It works the same when copying patterns so things can get a bit muddled if you don't know what's going on.

    Huzzah! Mine arrived at teatime. The Smpltrek looks like too much hard work and will remain in its box until after Christmas. This one looks like a lot of fun and is my Christmas entertainment sorted.Anyway, time to watch even more lofi-12 tutes and try to make sense of the manual.

      Hopefully this one will get you up and running quickly. It’s all pretty simple but there are a couple of oddities that took me ages to work out. I emailed Sonicware via the website and they did respond with the answers, but I was too impatient and spent hours digging in myself. Parameter locks on changing samples, copying samples and finding the non without changing it (use the latch function). Other than that it’s all pretty obvious once you know where to look. Enjoy - a great Christmas treat!

    Really nice demo here. I’ve had mine for about 3 weeks. I noticed battery life is a bit short, I get maybe 3 hours on a set of cells. When the cells drop to around 1.3 volts it will auto shut off.
    Another item is that when I map a drum pattern across 16 steps using the PRM lock to set sample start position per step, it sounds really choppy due to an auto decay on each step. So each step ramps down volume before the next step. Release & Gate don’t seem to affect this.

    • @StarskyCarr
      @StarskyCarr  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks... I've found I get around 6-8 hours with the rechargeable I have, but the auto shutoff does come as a shock! Maybe the speaker uses more - I've had mine plugged into my interface. For the 16 steps you can use the lease/gate function to get rid of the decay. Check that you have it set to zero on the whole track. If you've reduced the gate to zero per sample using the edit function with the overlay and its still doing it you may have to set the release/gate per step with the PRM lock (just a guess) but I've not found that.

    Ordered from the latest batch which should ship out end of December :). I was hoping to hear a comparison with the Akai S950, or other Akai 12-bit sampler that it so obviously takes inspiration from. Still a great in-depth review that I will no doubt come back to when mine arrives :)

    This thing looks badass! Bit of a learning curve it seems, but that's to be expected for a device that can do a lot with quite a small interface. I have more than enough samplers but I am seriously tempted by this, especially as a travel device

    • @StarskyCarr
      @StarskyCarr  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its not too bad tbh a few solid hours trying to sample something and then use it in a track gets you up and running. When you get it out of the box it feels a little impenetrable without a screen, which is why I attempted to demystify it with this.

    Hi brother, fantastic review.
    Do your encoders on your unit have similar resistance?
    On my unit, they have far less resistance on the cutoff and depth knobs.
    Is this normal ?

    • @StarskyCarr
      @StarskyCarr  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not in the studio at the mo… but can’t recall there being any difference. It would seem weird being the cutoff and depth.. if it was just the cutoff for example you might think it’s one that will take a hammering so they put something more substantial in. Often when I’ve noticed things like that it’s been because the plastic caps are pressed down further in a couple of pots making them touch the surface causing more resistance - worth’s look.

    • @DeeJay003
      @DeeJay003 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Starsky Carr Thank you very much for your reply, Starsky.
      I have discovered that the cut off and depth encoders become less resistant when the unit has been on for a while.
      When the unit is 'cold', said encoders are not that much different than the others.
      I think it is because of the internal heat in the unit generated by the power supply effects the encoders - as they (cutoff/depth) are the nearest to the heat source. This may very well effect the grease in the actual pots themselves .

      I'm red/green colorblind and unfortunately did not notice this before buying one. Honestly, it's even worse in real life as in the video I can actually tell the difference a bit more easily. Probably because video cameras can have a tendency to exaggerate color shift. I'm probably going to have to send it back because of this. It's awesome otherwise. Bummer.

    All this for half the price of a decent mobile, astounding kit. I still have half an eye on their 8-bit Warp for my full 80s flashbacks. I was going to get an ELZ1 but they're now more than the price they were when they were new, so Sonicware have been doing something right.

Any idea of what's happening? DOn't know if Im not turning on or off any options anywhere

    I missed this when it dropped. I wonder if it would serve as a replacement for my S2400. I only use the Isla as a sample bank for individual drum hits from classic drum machines and trigger them from an external sequencer via midi. My S2400 is very under-utilized, but that's just my preferred workflow.
    I didn't catch how many individual samples can be loaded and triggered at once in this thing...
