    Just checking in with my favorite crafters to see some videos I have not watched before. I love your Easter journal filled with ephemera from my era when I was a little girl. Turning 70 at the end of the month and this just brings me back to my childhood. Thank you so much. Someone was very lucky to purchase this journal. Love all the little goodies in the pockets. Great job. And yes, you are one of my favorite crafter.

    Beautiful journal! Can you tell me about the size of this journal ? Would you share a tutorial on how to make a signature for a golden book? I love that your pages are not folded in like others I have seen. TFS

      Hi Jennifer! The journal is 6x8. I don't use an extended cover like some journal makers do. That is what allows them to put book pages in that don't have to be folded. Most of my pages are actually folded. Only 2 in this junk journal are not folded. One is a page with bunnies on it. For that one, I opened up the spine and took the page off of the stitching (vs. tearing the page out). Then I just folded the left edge about a 1/4 inch and placed it in the center of the signature where it gets sewn and it got sewn in. It's hard to describe in words!! I will do a tutorial on making a signature soon that shows that option, as well as folding the pages. I don't mind the folded pages, I guess, bc that feels more like a traditional junk journal to me. For me, the journals are about the art and illustrations on the book pages and using the journal to write in or use as a scrapbook, so I'm not worried about being able to read them like a story. I know others like to put the entire story in tact in the journals, though. Like I said, I'm not as interested in the original story as much as I am interested in the artwork. Do you prefer being able to read the original story or at least viewing the full pages? Thank you for your questions! 🤗💗💗💗💗

      @@KittywittyPapercraft I guess I like both options. For gift purposes I like to be able to view the whole story. One more question...do you sell the vintage ads you said you printed...like the pass and Whitman chocolates? Love them, but cannot find anything like them.

    I love this one! I have the later (blue letter title) version of this same book. I may eventually make it into a journal. (For me it's sooooo hard to cut up the old ones!) Question: When you put the original story pages back in, aren't they too wide? It seems they would stick out of the book on the right side. Do you trim the outside edge of them so as to keep the fold in the pages for attaching into the signature? Just something I thought of. :)

    • @KittywittyPapercraft
      @KittywittyPapercraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!! I know it is hard to cut up the very old ones! I only do that if I know it's not a rare book and/or I can come by other copies easily! And I always think of it as I'm not cutting it up in a way that ruins the book. I'm just adding a spine and extra pages to it! As far as keeping the story in the journal with the pages right side up...yes, I keep the pages in their original folded state (I just pull the spine off the original book) and then I trim the outside edges of the pages. Almost always, I barely lose any, if at all, of the words or illustrations. I don't worry too much about that bc I don't really intend the story to be read since it is living a new life as a journal! I have cut all the pages out of a book before and washi taped 2 together at a time (washi tape down the inside edges of the 2 pages) so they can be added (folded) into a signature. I hope that makes sense! Let me know if it doesn't! The Valentine's journal I made this past Feb (flip-through on this channel) has the pages from the story in it where I cut off the outside edges of the pages (about a half inch, I think) if you want to see what it looks like! Thank you for your question! 🤗❤❤❤❤

    • @KittywittyPapercraft
      @KittywittyPapercraft  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, Ali!! I spend a lot of time gathering vintage ephemera!😃 I get most of it from shops on Etsy! And I buy from many different shops. Actually, as soon as I get my website finished, I'm going to offer a download list of all my favorite shops!! I will announce here and on Instagram when it's ready to go! In the meantime, you can try searching "vintage ephemera" or "vintage" and whatever you are looking for, like greeting cards, for example. Hope that helps!! 🤗💗💗💗💗
