    That ECBP C923 was an absolute killer last year. For the price, so hard to beat it.

      Agreed. I wonder if this year's C924 will follow suit?

    Continue to love your channel, Peter! Mary Bridget on Wednesdays is an added treat!!🙂 I'm a WT fan through and through but the 13 is out of my reach to purchase here in Kentucky. I'm guessing I'll need to hunt on the secondary markets?? Would love to try a pour at some point in my new whisky journey. Cheers!

      I agree. My sister adds to the vibe of the channel I can't replicate alone. Cheers!

    Not usually. I may get general notes while pouring - like this is whiskey and definitely not tequila. The exception is peated whiskeys, where I can smell the peat the moment the cork come off.

      @whiskeyisajourney  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Peat will definitely get your attention and it's most certainly not tequila 🤪 Cheers!

    Great head to head, Peter! I’ve never tried the Russel’s 13, but I really enjoy the ECBP C923. Recently drank it next to Stagg 23C, and while the C923 is a rich flavor bomb, the Stagg pulled ahead for me. Tough to beat either!
    It would be cool to hear more about your KCBS journey! Have you been into BBQ long? Cheers!

      This will be my first event and my brother in laws second. So far it has been fun. I just got into all this last year in October. There's so much to learn it makes your head spin.

    Nice heavyweight battle! I have a couple bottles of RR 13yr but wasn’t able to get the ECBP923:(

      Trade value isn’t too bad at 150. Honestly RR13 is 150 MSRP and I think it tastes better than the Batch 3 I own and the batch 5 I tried. If you got an extra blantons and Eagle you could trade for one

    Great match up. I was lucky enough to find 2 blts of the C923. I’m still looking for a R13.

      I think I was lucky to find the RR13. Come to think of it I think I was lucky to get the ECBP as well. Right place at the right time.

    Own both and can tell the difference but still prefer the EC most times (like you said it is a mood thing)
    EC BP a,b & c are easy to get as they sit on shelf for a few days or a week. RR13 is a much harder bottle to get by me. That being said I no longer buy the RR13 as Batch 1 was phenomenal and Batch 2 & 3 very good but cost $75. I just don’t get the value or quality for the $150 + tax that it now is. I have had several of batch 4 and even more batch 5 and it is a solid $85-$99 bottle. I passed on being able to buy a case of batch 5 at msrp (and no I won’t flip and don’t trade. I buy and share with with friends)

      @whiskeyisajourney  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm leaning towards what you are saying about the RR13 and the price. I much prefer the price availability and consistency of Elijah Craig over the Russell's 13. At this point going forward I think I'll concentrate on picking up Single Barrel picks from Russell's Reserve and not stress over getting or not getting the 13.

    I'm jealous that you landed both of these in PHX. I've never seen either even as an active bourbon hunter.
    How does Four Gate compare to these beauties?

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I lucked out to say the least. Right place right time I guess. I have now blinded the Four Gate with them yet, but I think the ECBP will be hard to beat

    BBQ comp!!! wow, being an Englishman i can confirm the majority of us are shite at BBQs.........only have 1 or 3 days a year to do it LOL.......any tips on BBQ beef brisket or any pulled type meat would be great. cheers.... for context, i have a ninja wood smoker (so not a real BBQ) haha cheers

      We got 1st place in ribs and 5th place in chicken. Enough to get is a Reserve Grand Champion in the backyard event. The only thing I can say about brisket right now is buy a good quality piece of meat. From there it is all personal preferences with everything else. Cook hot and fast, low and slow, meat side up or fat cap up, wrap in foil or paper or nothing. It's a rabbit hole of options.

      @@whiskeyisajourney I'm still working my way through the samples but the Redbreast 12 year CS, Arran 21, Deanston 12, the Bruichladdich (Classic Laddie) and Glenfarclas 15 are in the top tier of my tastings so far. I tried The Yamazakie 12 last night and oh man, smooth! Lots of raisins, dates, stone fruits as well. I checked the price on-line. Oh my!! No wonder I love it!! :-D😋 Best and cheers, Ginny M.
