    I just got the 36 inch 1/2 gauge loom from Cindwood and it is worth every penny! I live in Canada and even with the exchange rate and shipping costs it was worth it. I find it one of the easiest looms to use and great quality.

    I have a number of CinDwood looms. I appreciate the fact that they come in a number of sizes and shapes and gauge options - I'm ALL about the options.
    For me, more than the price is the shipping costs. I wish that they would offer free shipping for orders over a certain amount. It is the shipping that has prevented me from getting some of the larger looms.
    They ARE pricey, though and, for the price, I would like the MDF to be polished/finished since I still find that I get "microabrasion" from the slightly rough sides, if I use them for a great length of time.
    As I said, I love the great variety and options but I dissent regarding the pegs. I HATE the peg heads! They are SO big and square. The KK style (and Hobby Lobby round) looms have large peg heads but they are rounded and are not as tall. They are much easier for gliding the yarn over. Also, while the larger heads are appropriate for the 5/8 or 3/4" looms, I think that they need a different, proportionately smaller, peg for the 1/2" looms. The heads are too large for the yarn that one uses for a 1/2" loom.
    Ideally, IMO, the pegs would be slightly thinner and the peg heads smaller (and, it goes without saying, rounded) for the 1/2" looms. In the same way that the pegs on the new infinity loom by Michael's (which is actually a larger gauge) or the thinner pegs of the long looms. Those are still larger than the KB loom pegs and the heads are larger than the KB (well, at least the peg heads have both width and depth, not just depth like KB), but they are smaller than the big, chunky pegs.
    I would own MORE Cindwood looms if they would fix the peg heads. I mean I despise the square design of the peg head. I think that is awful. It is only acceptable for very bulky yarns (even then I prefer the rounded peg head like KK). I find myself using the Cindwood looms much less than I would like (especially considering the money spent) just because of the pegs.
    If they would smooth out the sides and fix the peg issue (and offer free shipping on, say, orders over $75.00), I'd say they were pretty near perfect!

    I've been looming for just over 2 years and heard about CinDWood looms but was shocked (BIG TIME) at the prices of her looms.......until I received mine and used it! CinDWood looms are AWESOME in every way possible. They are extremely comfortable to hold, the yarn never snags or pops off the peg, and the construction of these looms are amazing!
    If you are a true loomer and want a great loom - BUY A CINDWOOD LOOM, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!! I currently own 8 of her looms.......and yes, I will buy more.

    Thank you for all you videos, I appreciate everyone of them, and good to put a face to the voice ❤️

    Make sure you notice that this review is 5 years old. I believe the peg heads are smoother, and they ARE smaller on the smaller gauge looms. Also, there are a lot more patterns available and many on the CindiWood website. Good knit kisses does a lot of patterns that with for Cindi looms.
    I DID amazing find a used loom from an older lady who was downsizing. The problem, and the advantage, with such quality looms -- they don't lose their value. You can get 75% of the cost back.
    I prefer the smaller gauge loom where I can use worsted weight (#4) because I can get that much cheaper than bulky yarn. Being in a fixed income and extremely tight budget, this is important.
    I also know that CindiWood does offer shipping discounts now.
    So, make sure you check the website for current information. :)

    I have a few CindyWood looms, including the 48 peg round one you mentioned (I have one of your hat designs on it right now) and I love them. But you're right. They are kind of expensive and I wouldn't recommend them for beginners either

    Thank you for this! I live in Canada and was looking for a better quality loom but they are hard to find up here (at least in my area). It is great to have your review of the CinDLooms (because I have looked at a lot online and didn't know what to get and now I do)! I made a lot of hats over the summer for some of our local homeless but was looking to get back to a prayer shawl for my other group. I think the CinDLoom will give me just what I need. Going to take a look through all your patterns again. Thanks so much for all you do, Denise!

    Thank you for the review Denise. I'm planning on participating in their Mongolian hat/cowl charity project. I agree with you on the cost issue. As well, the shipping costs are, well, outrageous. The more you buy the higher the shipping, and that's for adding a 3.5 ounce skein of yarn! So, although I would love to have one (or two or three!) the shipping costs are a deal breaker. I'm excited to participate in their service project, but I will be using the Darice round loom set (bought after reading your review). Here's to hoping that CinDWood takes the step of at least offering free shipping--especially when a customer is buying for a charity project.

    I just bought my first CinDLoom and it's wonderful! I have been loom knitting for about 7 years now and have a bunch of Knifty Knitters (including a purple hat loom--which I wouldn't sell for under $50!) and one of the original plastic serenity looms, which I am currently using to make a sweater (but only because my CinDLoom hadn't arrived yet). I also have a couple of other lovely wood looms, including a DALooms wood infinity loom. I was bummed when I couldn't get DA loom items any longer and was pleased to find CinDLooms as a replacement--same quality and same kind of pegs. I will be buying more of these as I start to do more clothing.

    Thank you so much for this video! I'm a new loom knitter but have been pretty displeased with how my work was turning out on the larger cheaper looms. I'm from a family of fiber/needle artists and I know what high quality knitting looks like and was getting frustrated that I couldn't seem to reproduce the same thing on the looms I've used. If Cindlooms can get me that fine gauge fabric I want- gosh, I'm excited at the thought!

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hazel - it has as much to do with the design of the project as it does with the loom. I try to mostly knit with the cheaper looms bcus I know that not everyone can afford the handmade looms and I’m happy with my results.

    ok, i have the purple loom. are there patterns that use the 48 pegs for hats, scarfs etc. Silly question i know . ;))))))) Or do i use regular patterns , but with this peg ? i don't think i am phrasing this right.

    I just started loom a month ago. I've returned three unopened loom sets to Joann's this week, one broken set back to Wally World after a few uses and I"m keeping my Boye fine set for now, though a few pegs popped off. I did see your review and ordered from CinDwood on the 30th. I do not wrap tightly or abuse my items. So, it's not the user in this case.
    I don't have my looms yet, so I can't say anything negative or positive about the looms. I can say that, as far as price, I'd much rather pay double the price for looms that will last. I've just started looming and I'm already disturbed by the quality of store bought looms. I work full time, so I only use the looms a few days a week. Having two sets, made by two different companies, fall apart in a month, is not cost effective to me.
    Thanks for the review. I'd have given up, had I not seen this review.

    I have been loom knitting for 7 years now and I really love my CinDwood looms and I have come to realize that the plastic looms are worthless the only good thing about them would be if you are new to loom knitting and your wanting to see if you like loom knitting but if you decide that you like loom knitting then invest in a CinDwood loom you will be glad you did

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      WRONG not Worthless ! I totally disagree with you about the plasitc looms. The material is irrelevant, 99 % of my patterns are on plastic looms and I think over 200k followers of this channel would also disagree with you.

    I know that this video is older, but if anyone comes here anymore, I wonder if the 48 peg loom is comparable to the pale green oval looms that have come out. The oval looms have a closer gauge and if they are comparable to CinDWood as far as the size, then the price is so much better for ovals.

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I hate the pegs! they make the gaps smaller so it's difficult to use the pen guide and a lot more difficult picking the bottom loop over the top...it really slows me down

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patricia - CinDwood have a HUGE variety of looms. Different gauge (gap between pegs) and different pegs - some with smaller heads. I totally hear what you say but don't count them out all together - stop by the website and take look around.

    • @staylor5687
      @staylor5687 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad you mentioned that Denise because I bought the 48-peg CinDWood loom and I hate those large heads. I have to agree with Patricia on that!! I also bought the glove/sock loom with the 2 peg center attachments for making the fingers on gloves. I did complete 1 project on it but I was never so glad to be done with it!! The larger heads also made it difficult to work with those center attachments as there just is not enough space. I need to make a trip back to the website and take a look at the peg options. :)

    • @DBURNS981
      @DBURNS981 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't agree more. I've made close to 200 hats (I donate them). I ordered the 48 peg CinDwood and have made probably 3 hats. I think I'd give the loom away if I could find the purple 48 peg. The pen works for me but the large heads are a pain! It takes me probably 3 times as long to make a hat! I would have sent it back but as soon as I got it but I numbered my pegs, bummer

  • @particiacrosby2160
    @particiacrosby2160 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I purchased the 48 peg, 5/8" round loom that is supposed to replace the Knifty Knitter purple loom. I was a little disappointed using it for the first time, when I discovered there were 3 places on the loom the pegs were crooked. Not very good quality control if they allow this type of loom to be shipped out. I will try to break the crooked pegs loose and reglue them straight. If it doesn't work I won't be ordering again from CinDwood Looms. Oh by the way I love your stitch markers for the looms

  • @femaleKCRoyalsFan

    I disagree with you on the price "con". These are superior quality looms that are not made in a chinese factory like all the plastic looms are made (these are cut at a shop near where cindy lives and then she and her crew place the pegs in by hand...not machine). And i think a beginner could learn on these, maybe not a five year old, but a ten year old could. Yes, the cost is high on some, but it includes the love put into them.

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +SonnyNChad4Evar I started by saying that I would not compare them with mass produced plastic looms but the average consumer would and this can and does stop people from buying the loom. I did not say that a beginner could Not Learn with these looms - a beginner could learn with ANY loom. Instead what I said was that I don't like them for beginners because they have a high peg count and they're expensive. Even if you're 50 - you don't want to realize you don't like loom knitting after spending $25 when you could have just spent $6 . I'm not trying to sound mean but as far as the looms being made with love - I don't know - I would have to ask Wendy who assembles the looms. I will say that they are all AWESOME people. I like them personally a lot - but I was reviewing the product and I can not factor in how I feel about them or how they feel about their product. The review must be fact driven.
      I think you and I agree more then you think - where we don't - I hope you can at least understand me.

      @femaleKCRoyalsFan 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You make a good point about absolute beginners and price.
