This simple phrasing exercise TRANSFORMED my guitar playing!
Welcome to my new 'Simple Soloing' series. This series of lessons is aimed at the intermediate or late-beginner guitarist, but it would also suit the experienced player looking to take a step back, break out of a rut and play more simply, but with good phrasing and musicality.
In the previous episode, using an E minor backing track, we looked at a limitation exercise in which we restricted ourselves to just 4 notes and tried to squeeze as much music as possible out of a small area of the neck.
In the second part of this series, we expand on this concept by learning an incredibly powerful and fun rhythmic phrasing exercise, which allows us to tap into our own internal sense of rhythm. This approach can greatly expand our improvisation vocabulary.
Enjoy!

BREAK THROUGH! Thanks so much, Bobby!
@@humbleviewpoint Brilliant! Thanks very much!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Great lesson - thank you so much Bobby- so awesome to have you as a teacher. This lesson is especially great because it unlocks the mystery of rhythm, which I struggle with. Blows my mind how much you can do with four or five notes. Thank you🙏🎸
Thank you very much! I’m glad it helped.
Brilliant Bob. Top guitarist-tutor & budding comic.
Thank you very much!
0:39 I swear if anyone under 40 years of age and/or outside of the UK understands this reference, then you have earned yourself an honorary packet of Jaffa Cakes.
Fantastic upload. Thank you.
Ha ha. Thank you very much!

Love'n the sandwich, thanks man you're such a great teacher 🙏
Thank you very much!
Wow! That opened up something.
Brilliant. Thanks. Glad it helped. The next video will expand on this concept. I’ll upload it on Friday.
Thank you...❤
Cheers!
Such a simple idea but it works, genius Bobby, cheers mate.
Thank you very much.
You’re honestly the man.
Thanks very much!
Cheers for this Bobby, such a great exercise. Just not having to think about where/when/how to move to another position is quite liberating and makes concentrating on the phrasing enjoyable, rather than thinking about speed, or anything else.
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it. The next one is going to build on this foundation, opening up more of the fretboard.
love it
Thank you very much!
