I was ecplaining in another comment that Sebastian has been slightly justified in his anger due to his parents basically treating Maru like an angel, Robin still tries slightly to see her son but then she doesnt stop how Demetrius treats him. More over Demetrius has a book on how to be a stepdad yet still fails because he plays blatant favorites with Maru. None of them take his programming job seriously either.
I agree because they both seem to favor Maru and the siblings seem to lack any kind of relationship as a result. For demetirus it kinda makes sense tho since Sebastian isn't his biological son and Maru is interested in science so of course he would want to bond with her through that and encourage her interest since he is a scientist. But he should still definitely be nicer to to his stepson and at least try to bond with him more and so should Robin. I also think his relationship with Maru is a bit iffy since he gives the farmer a not so nice talk when befriending her.

Maru only really does to complain that Sebastian doesn't like her. Sebastian's father is either dead or otherwise completely out of the picture, to the point he is never addressed or spoken of. Whatever happened, he was fatherless and then watched his mother marry a man who shoves him into a basement and ignores him while doting on his half sister instead. It would be weirder if Sebastian *didn't* resent Maru for that.

Sam just doesn't feel like a young adult, he feels like a teenager. He doesn't really have much character growth, the way to gain hearts with him in the dropped egg cutscene is to lie on his behalf and be the bad guy... Then the cringe sneaking into his room and hiding from his mommy cutscene doesn't help either. It feels waaaaaaay too juvenile.
I'm glad I'm not the only one eho feels that way. Sam and Abigail both feel way younger than the others- like, 16 while the other teems are around 18 at least. They speak and behave like children, only a few steps above Jas and Vincent. That's the real ick for me- playing a character old enough to have a job and life and potentially dating people who I don't think have even graduated high school...
Or how all of his help wanted requests are "I need a cute girl to bring me _" It's just personally not my thing but everything we interact in a heart event with Sam (or specifically two of them) we lie or defend him for doing smth wrong (and the egg thing wasn't even wrong he accidently dropped it but we gotta cover his ass like he did it on purpose)

Those traits are normally seen as default or boring. But I would argue that Harvey's 'trait' being the town doctor. That's what a lot of his dialogue is based on. I wish he talked more about his planes in regular dialogue because it kinda comes out of left field, like Haley and photography.

Of course recovery takes time and can have setbacks but his storyline kinda just stops making sense after marriage which is my main problem with him. I personally think Shane is an interesting character but he could have been handled better. But I'll give it a pass since he wasn't romanceble in the beginning unlike most of the other bachelors and bachelorettes.

In my experience with Elliott types (and being one), we can majorly overstep boundaries sometimes. We're good at knowing what reactions would make a perfect romantic story, not how people actually would react/are reacting. Sometimes you just get wrapped up in a moment that turns out only to exist in fiction

I wouldn’t make this an ick for any of them. The consent is heavily implied and that it isn’t individually checked for in those 10 heart date events is just based on the nature of those cutscenes. All those three aren’t creeps the rest of the time or in marriage. So yeah, why read them as such in those cutscenes? ^^

Personally I’m a huge fan of Sam’s 10 heart event because of how youthful and cheesy it feels, like I just turned 20 and never had fun mischievous experiences like that - so his event makes my heart really warm and giddy.
The only Seb thing that gives me the ick is when he asks how the farm is doing and then says he doesn’t wanna sell his computer But I choose to ignore that line because I love him
Sebastian's jealousy of Maru and distrust of her is bad, but when you've been pushed to the basement and neglected because of her that tends to happen, the real icks are Robin and Demetrius' abuse

I can actually understand Alex's deal. Think about the women who live in the Valley, especially those in Alex's age range. Do you really think Penny, Maru and especially Haley- the only girl Alex really associates with- would be interested in playing catch with him? Its how most siblings can act when one was blatantly favored, they end up resenting that and sometimes take it out on the sibling even when its the parents fault. He felt like he was a literal burden and never taken seriously like Mary was when his job was a freelance programmer. If you marry him one of his dialogs mentions he bets Mari is glad he isnt at the house anymore, its sad and I wish there were a way to bring Mari and Sebastian closer as siblings because I doubt she knew how her own dad treated her brother. Heck Demetrius is one reason I slightly dont like Maru, in one of her early heart events, I think it's 2 or 4 maybe, her dad delvs into creepy parent territory with how he comes off, yes he is just being a protective dad but how he says things can come off very creepy in my opinion and if you rat him out over just staying silent when he says "right -farmer name-?" you lose 100 friendship points with him when its her event. His actions made me not even want to try and befriend her further the first few times I played and no it is not fair to her. Aside from the tiny mini rant in all honesty i would blame Demetrius for how Sebastian treats hers, his poor parenting and playing favorites but a gap between the two siblings. I will leave it at that before i end up in another mini rant though. 😅

The only sport I trust playing with a girl is rugby. Those bitches are tougher than most men, absolute fucking legends. Maybe hokey too, but I never played it so I can't speak on it. Otherwise they're always lower intensity than their male counterparts. Flipside tho, less long-term injuries.
That's what it is 90% of the time for guys tbh. But I guess saying it out loud is insulting for women. To be clear, though, for most guys, it doesn't mean that they are looking down on you just because you are physically weaker and less "durable." It's just consideration, really.

I definitely understand that elliot isnt for everyone, and I respect that! The reasons why I date him are: 1. He doesn't give up on his dreams. 2. He's very polite and sweet. 3. In the 10 heart event, you dont even lose any friendship points if you say you're uncomfortable after he kisses you, AND he apologizes. My icks for him: His character portrait. It makes him seem narcissistic when he's the complete opposite of that and I loved the older ones better, they show his gentle and romantic nature.

I believe Elliot is just passionately in love, I read every dialogue option for marriage candidates and he is by far the best out of them all, he seems to passionately love you AND HE has the best responses to having children, he loves you, and excited to raise children with you which is rare compared to the other dialogue options.

Whatever happened, he was fatherless and then watched his mother marry a man who shoves him into a basement and ignores him while doting on his half sister instead.

Sam just doesn't feel like a young adult, he feels like a teenager. He doesn't really have much character growth, the way to gain hearts with him in the dropped egg cutscene is to lie on his behalf and be the bad guy... Then the cringe sneaking into his room and hiding from his mommy cutscene doesn't help either. It feels waaaaaaay too juvenile.
I'm glad I'm not the only one eho feels that way. Sam and Abigail both feel way younger than the others- like, 16 while the other teems are around 18 at least. They speak and behave like children, only a few steps above Jas and Vincent.
That's the real ick for me- playing a character old enough to have a job and life and potentially dating people who I don't think have even graduated high school...
Or how all of his help wanted requests are "I need a cute girl to bring me _" It's just personally not my thing but everything we interact in a heart event with Sam (or specifically two of them) we lie or defend him for doing smth wrong (and the egg thing wasn't even wrong he accidently dropped it but we gotta cover his ass like he did it on purpose)

My original reply was kinda a joke because people in the sdv community like to hate on Harvey and Penny for having no personality when their personalities are being quiet and kind. Those traits are normally seen as default or boring. But I would argue that Harvey's 'trait' being the town doctor. That's what a lot of his dialogue is based on. I wish he talked more about his planes in regular dialogue because it kinda comes out of left field, like Haley and photography.

The problem is that he doesn't actually improve, though. :( He makes the motions but then still drinks every night. I'm hoping the update allows him to make progress.
Of course recovery takes time and can have setbacks but his storyline kinda just stops making sense after marriage which is my main problem with him. I personally think Shane is an interesting character but he could have been handled better. But I'll give it a pass since he wasn't romanceble in the beginning unlike most of the other bachelors and bachelorettes.

In my experience with Elliott types (and being one), we can majorly overstep boundaries sometimes. We're good at knowing what reactions would make a perfect romantic story, not how people actually would react/are reacting. To be fair he is slightly justified when his mom and stepdad pay a bit more attention to her and kinda play favorites, especially Demetrius. Its how most siblings can act when one was blatantly favored, they end up resenting that and sometimes take it out on the sibling even when its the parents fault. He felt like he was a literal burden and never taken seriously like Mary was when his job was a freelance programmer.
If you marry him one of his dialogs mentions he bets Mari is glad he isnt at the house anymore, its sad and I wish there were a way to bring Mari and Sebastian closer as siblings because I doubt she knew how her own dad treated her brother.
Heck Demetrius is one reason I slightly dont like Maru, in one of her early heart events, I think it's 2 or 4 maybe, her dad delvs into creepy parent territory with how he comes off, yes he is just being a protective dad but how he says things can come off very creepy in my opinion and if you rat him out over just staying silent when he says "right -farmer name-?" you lose 100 friendship points with him when its her event. His actions made me not even want to try and befriend her further the first few times I played and no it is not fair to her.
Aside from the tiny mini rant in all honesty i would blame Demetrius for how Sebastian treats hers, his poor parenting and playing favorites but a gap between the two siblings. I will leave it at that before i end up in another mini rant though. 😅

like, imagine how Maru feels? being the “favorite” comes with its own issues. moreover, imagine trying to connect with your big brother your entire life, but he treats you poorly, insults tour hobbies, and belittles tour confidence? and honestly, while i hear where Sebastion is coming from, some of it seems a little wild to me. she’s a scientist, just like her dad, so it makes sense for them to really connect over that. doing science also has a lot of ways for parents to support you naturally (fairs, conferences, research seminars, etc) that don’t come with programming. imagine your brother being the only one in your family not cheering you on at the science fair? or your big brother not caring about your, frankly, phenomenal scientific accomplishments?
there’s a specific dialogue with Maru about inviting him over, but he refuses to visit the farm. when she goes back to visit, he doesn’t even leave his room to say hello. honestly broke my heart. it would have been nice to see him take some ownership over the state of their relationship during his cutscenes.

The only sport I trust playing with a girl is rugby. Those bitches are tougher than most men, absolute fucking legends. Maybe hokey too, but I never played it so I can't speak on it. Otherwise they're always lower intensity than their male counterparts. Flipside tho, less long-term injuries.

That line of dialogue from Sebastian comes from his asshole parents neglecting him, his step dad never mentions him, and instead of having a room with a window he’s given the basement so maru and her dad can have the lab upstairs. That line comes from years of neglect and I know I experience the same thing it’s hard sometimes not to blame your sibling that gets everything and all the attention sometimes

I definitely understand that elliot isnt for everyone, and I respect that! The reasons why I date him are:
1. He doesn't give up on his dreams.
2. He's very polite and sweet.
3. In the 10 heart event, you dont even lose any friendship points if you say you're uncomfortable after he kisses you, AND he apologizes.
My icks for him: His character portrait. It makes him seem narcissistic when he's the complete opposite of that and I loved the older ones better, they show his gentle and romantic nature.
As someone who is married to Alex in the game and has married him multiple times he gives me no icks I love him!

My ick with Sebastian is how he's kind of a fake friend. He's only friends with Abigail because he has a crush on her, if she marries you he says Sam's all he cares about in town anymore. He drops her entirely even as a friend just because he can't get with her. The fandom gives Clint so much grief for doing the same thing to Emily while Seb gets a free pass just because he's their hot neglected emo boy.

I believe Elliot is just passionately in love, I read every dialogue option for marriage candidates and he is by far the best out of them all, he seems to passionately love you AND HE has the best responses to having children, he loves you, and excited to raise children with you which is rare compared to the other dialogue options.
