Tbh, i always wondered how this build got away without a single nerf over all these years. Almost never lost a 1v1. Takes several mistakes in a row to give the opponent even a slight chance of winning. Dunno how not S tier. Besides that, very solid tier list. Matches my WvW experience right on spot. 👍
Could you link your build? I’m wondering what are you running with, since Rene can be strong for sure, but there are beast roam builds nowadays which outclass it easily.

As a soulbeast main that also makes content i have to disagree with the REASON of why you put it on S tier, in my opinion and experience, the One-Shot shennanigans its very fun but ppl get used to it and easily avoid it, sure you might get a few snipes here and there but its super unreliable, after all you just stunbreak-dodge and most celestials will survive with some protection... INSTEAD i believe the "Melee" Variants for the Soulbeast are equally capable of oneshoting but more consistent. Specially my Anti-Condi Build, made to deal precisely with cele-condi Meta! As a druid main, I agree with its placement. Even while using a meme low dps healing build I win or draw 90% of my fights. And for the fights I lose, I can run from most of them. Adding in some Condi, the win rate quickly rockets up. A well played druid can be one of the hardest people to kill in my opinion. Even with my Cata and Scourge, killing a similarly skilled Druid is a slog, despite the absurd DPS those two toons can output.
To me, Willbender is definitely S tier, just next to Cele Harb. Those perma Resolution and tons of boons are disgusting, not to mention their insane mobility and condi cleanse F2 spam. If a willbender choose to run away, no one can stop them. And Harb is broken af atm. (why perma protection is allowed Anet :D) These specs need to be nerfed. (thats why so many roamers are either Harb or Willy)
That's what makes them annoying, you can't catch them due to countless teleport and evading skills. But they're not very good in a fight, they're just fast and chaotic. If you start hitting them they are like leaves caught in a storm. All in all, if you survive their initial attack without being terrified by their mobility and speed, they're nothing special. Harbinger is broken, yes. I created one a few days ago and the first time I joined WvW I soloed even elementalists.
@@AssassinsCr2Hm, I dunno, if I run restoring virtues I can kinda spam my highest dps skills and can keep up pressure over a long period of time. Most classes will sooner or later break down to this, especially if you are efficient with baiting their dps and cc skills out with your insane condi cleanse and mobility, it kinda works well. But I’m no pro at WvW or PvP in general, but willbender is by far my favorite and most successful class in there atm, works well for someone who is normally a pve focused player like me.
Nice list, thank you for inspiration. Being an average Player or almost Casual, I think Willbender belongs S Tier... For me Putting Out bursts is so easy compared to other classes, that this is compansating my Lack of defensive skills or behavior way more often than playing other classes... Best regards
Ranger Thoughts: There is a reason why all the good rangers I know quit sic em, it got nerfed pretty hard and is really tough to solo roam on. Cele shuts the spec down entirely, still a good spec for 1 shotting people off mounts but if youre outnumbered by even one cele player its gg. Overall though, ranger is a great class and celestial on all elite specs are A tier, and there would be a solid argument for untamed and soulbeast being s tier with their cele counterparts. I think what would hold them back is neither of them are easy to solo roam on compared to the other s tier specs. The power untamed build you were referencing in the video is a solid c tier imo (maybe d because of how hard it can be), but there is a better power untamed build out there rn that is B tier where you placed it. Sic em should be b tier imo, power druid maybe could get an A tier spot and grieving druid (basically power druid but better) is 100% a solid A tier.
As someone that played years ago, i'm coming back to the game and want to do WVW roaming mainly with some zergs and high end dungeons, would thief or ranger be my best bet? (i like the look of deadeye and soulbeast.)
There is a common factor within all these S tier spec and that's the combinaison of mobility, damage and stealth. You may disagree with me but in guild wars 2 teleportation and stealth are broken AF. So a class that combine both would instantly go to S tier...And would you look at that, Daredevil and Deadeye appear in the S tier category. The only "anomaly" within the S ranks is Harbringer but it has busted damage and mobility to a point stealth is almost irrelevant for it. The ability to pick your fight and being able to run away from fight forced onto you is so busted in WvW. I dont exactly agree with Mechanist though. While it is solid in 1 v 1, WvW these days is mostly 2-3 vs 1 and while it does have some ways to survive, it doesnt exactly do much damage unless the people you fight are standing still without projectile reflect. Otherwise I can agree with the rest
Playing cele Catalyst roaming build that doubles as big group build. Being able to jump from defense to burn to heal to cc-mobility. Just do some pve where you practice going through the entire four elements. Catalyst might feel like button mashing at first.
oh also I'm still playing your daredevil scepter build just swap a few things around here and there, its way too fun seeing over 10k twilight combo and ive gotten really damn good on the build with 700 hours into it
I decided to try holosmith couple days ago and I’m enjoying it. Tad bit more mobility with the leap 2 attack which is a nice change as engineer moves like a snail. I’ll use hammer or flamethrower and I have superior cleansing on hammer so it’s easy to swap to flamethrower and back to hammer for free cleanse. Between the power of photon forge and hammer it will shred people. I think I’m gonna change my berserk pieces to marauder or dragon stats so I’ll survive a tad bit longer
I am also a Berserker enthusiast. Can you describe how BD balances mobility and damage? When I use weapons such as hammers, swords, and torches, I am strong, but my mobility is much worse.
I'm a pretty average roamer of various specs, but I always feel confident fighting DH, Berserker, Untamed, Virt and Mech. think they all need to go down one, but great ratings for all the rest
Honestly I'd rate Vindicator a tad bit higher and Zerker (Cele Condi Zerker specifically) a tier higher. They are absolute buff bonus monsters when just going about their normal actions, and if you realize, many of the top tiers are all buff bonus powerhouses which have passives and traits that boost their damage output for just performing their normal routine.
I main core mesmer for roaming (power oneshot) and im actually really popping even against some of the more disgusting cele builds Its not the best but it works 😎
Any update to this? My friends and I recently got into small scale wvw as a group of 3-7 and I’m trying to figure out what we should stick with and try to improve to have a good performance vs other groups. And how would the Nerv to celestial impact your list?
As a warrior main, bladesworn cannot fight anything with protection uptime or armour higher than 2700, as its damage output is just lacking expecially with its very telegraphed bursts. where spellbreaker can take down cele harbs, cele catas and theives with the right build. Im not saying bladesworn is bad because its defiantly not, I just think its not better than spb.
You said take a look at your old Mechanist build video. It was from before the relic change. What rune and relic do you now use with it? Any other changes to it?
Many different relic options, I’m not on my PC right now so i can’t remember which one I run but off the top of my head antitoxin or speed would be solid options! No traitlines changed however I would just double check by reading through the individual traits to see if any other options sound better.
I'm new to wvw and a played beserker when I started... almost everyone I played with begged me to switch to willbender. After doing so I can comfortably say willbender is s tier. I lost to them all the time and my dumb ass finally gets kills
Nahh. Imo gw2 peaked in PoF and the 2 following years with living worlds. You experienced the best gw2 already. Wanna come back? You got 2 expansions (3 soon) to buy, only for these zones to be empty cause people are done with the meta events of the zone. They about to turn WvW to shit too.
To illustrate how absolutely stupid Harb is. I’m above average but nowhere near the top. I never played Harb before. Within 30 minutes of playing it, I was able to take 50% of my duels against one of the top Elementalist pvp players. Within the week I don’t think I lost any duels - only ever stalemated at worst but won most. It’s the most busted build the game has ever had when you consider how it fits within the rest of the meta.
@@Noody Not many Untamed roamers tbh. It shines in 1v1s. Tons of pressure and sustain, condi cleanses, evades, vigor uptime, regen uptime, permanent swiftness and speed relic plus two teleports, 3 leaps (4 if you include dagger 3) you can outrun *almost* any class if you get too pressured, and can chase even harder. Variety of pets for different scenarios, lots of variables you can change to suit the matchup. A *normal* player would probably make it mid A tier, but just like every class there's tons of small things to learn that would make it ranked higher.

Although based on the above comment with two teleports, that build would be A tier at best.
I would really like to practice untamed more, but my experience with it is it that once its pets die, it is massively handicapped. For that reason, I always target an untamed's pets (especially after they pet swap), and the fight becomes easy after that. It is way harder to kill a druid's pet than an untamed's one, and even if a druid loses its pet, it isn't as handicapped.
@@Myst1z This is extremely true and it sucks. It’s hard to fight against willbender specifically because of all the burst cleave they do. Doesn’t help that some of the best pets have terrible health pools.

Nah I'll have to politely disagree with Weaver rank. They might've been B tier when they actually had damage back then. With lack of stealth, mobility, condi cleansing added with oddball changes to Arcane skills and Anet butchering Earthen Synergy, Weaver is C tier at best now.
I'd probably move willbender up to that S tier as well. Cele or power both succeed against most players there with those crazy boons and burst + survavbility. Not to mention they are easy to pick up and play too. Overall tho solid list 👍

If Vindi isn't your thing you could try Harbinger or Reaper too. Harbi is one of the easiest specs to play relative to its strength but not pure brawler since it's a mix of range and melee. I main D/D Cata for roaming which is definitely a brawler and beats just about anything else (imo) but not beginner friendly at all.
Cele mech is so much less fun without sanctuary rune derived permanent free alacrity. It's still good but it loses to harb (or any cele condi build tbh) at the same skill level due to lack of cleanse. It's good but it's not nearly as nice as it used to be which is why I wouldn't really recommend it anymore (serious). I also don't think mirage belongs in S tier, barely even in A tier. /s
cele specter is a f menace the output is so insane that it feels like its using pve numbers. If one of your mates on cele specter as a team your target is fucked to hell theres no escape. Deadeye is just stupid broken, its just a joke on the game. Cata and willbender should be s tier and soulbeast on A. Other than that pretty accurate. Also i would put daredevil and deadeye above harb. The weakness are just the same as other necromancer which is pretty simple.
High sustain outside of Condis won't win u fights unless Ur fighting another power guy then that's another thing, Bladesworn dmg is low especially if Ur fighting a cele class, u would be lucky to abuse some cc on it before u set up a burst and still u wont kill a cele roamer
Sadge list...WB at B and who tf is still getting one shot by slb as all the noobies are all in Cele and have like 3k toughness + perma prot by default?
just move weaver to C tier and cata to B tier... if we are really talking about average players if i ever see a weaver, which is pretty rare to begin with, they are pretty much insta dead to most power builds, yeah they have that burst combo but 1 dodge can negate it all and after that it's pretty much dead... and cata is ok but having different builds most of which mediocre (hammer cata? really? you like people just walking away from you?) doesn't really make it that great... cele daggers are having a comeback and cele scepter is decent for 1v1s but not for roaming and fa cata is worse than weaver in the damage department so yeah you won't be killing much with it...
Ohhh man, no way cata is B tier haha. Believe me, cata has some extremely busted builds and if an average player had the right build they would get a lot done. Your weaver take is fair
From my experience, all noobs in WvW play thief (all specs) and elementalist (all specs). The reason is obvious, thieves are invisible most of the time and can take down legions and elementalists have access to countless skills that provide them with very high DPS, healing, defence and crit. Both are super OP.
And that's exactly the problem in WvW these days. These S tire are no longer roam builds, but more and more players use them as regular cloud builds, where today you have 20-30 players just clouding around the blob party, 20 of them gang 1 and run away. This is getting worse, more and more people are using these builds in WvW. Blob battles are dying out. Commanders will soon become unnecessary. Now it's all about hit and run. In all the games I've played up to this point, invisibility comes at a great cost to power. What is being done in WvW today is amazing, i honestly don't know what ANET was thinking when they gave 5-6 classes crazy invisibility, mobility and burs damage at the same time. For me, WvW has become a pastime where i log in for an hour, mostly for power mirage, gang tail, get bored, log out and play other games. I can say with the advent of all these cloud builds and players, my playing time has dropped from an average of 3-4 hours, weekends and more, to a maximum of 1 hour a day. Everyone here has the right to their opinion, mine is "GG ANET".
I agree! Six weeks from being full legendary for medium (Ranger 100%) and heavy (Guardian and I do not even want to finish my last 3 pieces of heavy leg armor0. I quitting for now due the lack of reason to continue. I will return at a later date when I am bored with my other games. Maybe WvW will be much better by early next year.
only a few i would say are off, reaper can be pretty insane against most builds but countered by thief, willbender definitely deserves S tier but the main on i have an issue with is deadeye, i agree its strong but it doesnt play itself and the average dead eye is SO much worse then the average daredevil due to ease of play for daredevils
According this tier list, Spellbreaker is the worst specialisation for warrior however I would say that is the best, probably top-mid A tier (staff/dagger sword is one of the best dueler builds in game holding outnumbered very well). Have a look to pvp meta, this is a really good sidenoder for a reason. Berserker bottom of A tier and Bladesworn is not worth to play at the moment. (End of B tier as best case)

Lately the tempests are kicking butt especially against dot builds with daze constants and super mobility, very hard to fight

I was trying WvW roam builds for open world for fun and Celestial Harbinger is the only build I can consistently solo Champions with.

@frankauc6023 Take a break, touch some grass, and only come back when you really want to play. This is my advice.

To illustrate how absolutely stupid Harb is. I’m above average but nowhere near the top. I never played Harb before. Within 30 minutes of playing it, I was able to take 50% of my duels against one of the top Elementalist pvp players. Within the week I don’t think I lost any duels - only ever stalemated at worst but won most. It’s the most busted build the game has ever had when you consider how it fits within the rest of the meta.

@@Noody Not many Untamed roamers tbh. It shines in 1v1s. Tons of pressure and sustain, condi cleanses, evades, vigor uptime, regen uptime, permanent swiftness and speed relic plus two teleports, 3 leaps (4 if you include dagger 3) you can outrun *almost* any class if you get too pressured, and can chase even harder. Variety of pets for different scenarios, lots of variables you can change to suit the matchup. A *normal* player would probably make it mid A tier, but just like every class there's tons of small things to learn that would make it ranked higher.
@@Noody def an argument for cele untamed being S tier, there all of about 3 players I know of that play it (including me), one of which quit and the other plays something that is on the right track but needs improvement. Although based on the above comment with two teleports, that build would be A tier at best.
I would really like to practice untamed more, but my experience with it is it that once its pets die, it is massively handicapped. For that reason, I always target an untamed's pets (especially after they pet swap), and the fight becomes easy after that. It is way harder to kill a druid's pet than an untamed's one, and even if a druid loses its pet, it isn't as handicapped.
@@Myst1z This is extremely true and it sucks. It’s hard to fight against willbender specifically because of all the burst cleave they do. Doesn’t help that some of the best pets have terrible health pools.

Nah I'll have to politely disagree with Weaver rank. They might've been B tier when they actually had damage back then. With lack of stealth, mobility, condi cleansing added with oddball changes to Arcane skills and Anet butchering Earthen Synergy, Weaver is C tier at best now.

I'd probably move willbender up to that S tier as well. Cele or power both succeed against most players there with those crazy boons and burst + survavbility. Not to mention they are easy to pick up and play too. Overall tho solid list 👍

If Vindi isn't your thing you could try Harbinger or Reaper too. Harbi is one of the easiest specs to play relative to its strength but not pure brawler since it's a mix of range and melee.
I main D/D Cata for roaming which is definitely a brawler and beats just about anything else (imo) but not beginner friendly at all.
Cele mech is so much less fun without sanctuary rune derived permanent free alacrity. It's still good but it loses to harb (or any cele condi build tbh) at the same skill level due to lack of cleanse. It's good but it's not nearly as nice as it used to be which is why I wouldn't really recommend it anymore (serious).
I also don't think mirage belongs in S tier, barely even in A tier. /s
Yeah cele harb is a tough matchup but it beats like 9/10 other builds in my opinion

cele specter is a f menace the output is so insane that it feels like its using pve numbers. If one of your mates on cele specter as a team your target is fucked to hell theres no escape.
Deadeye is just stupid broken, its just a joke on the game. Cata and willbender should be s tier and soulbeast on A.
Other than that pretty accurate. Also i would put daredevil and deadeye above harb. The weakness are just the same as other necromancer which is pretty simple.

High sustain outside of Condis won't win u fights unless Ur fighting another power guy then that's another thing, Bladesworn dmg is low especially if Ur fighting a cele class, u would be lucky to abuse some cc on it before u set up a burst and still u wont kill a cele roamer
Power Soulbeast is B tier at best and Willbender easy S tier. Bladesworn is too high C tier at best.

just move weaver to C tier and cata to B tier... if we are really talking about average players if i ever see a weaver, which is pretty rare to begin with, they are pretty much insta dead to most power builds, yeah they have that burst combo but 1 dodge can negate it all and after that it's pretty much dead... and cata is ok but having different builds most of which mediocre (hammer cata? really? you like people just walking away from you?) doesn't really make it that great... cele daggers are having a comeback and cele scepter is decent for 1v1s but not for roaming and fa cata is worse than weaver in the damage department so yeah you won't be killing much with it...
Ohhh man, no way cata is B tier haha. Believe me, cata has some extremely busted builds and if an average player had the right build they would get a lot done.

The best build on reaper I've ever played def puts it in A. Also, Cata is S tier if Grim is playing it.

From my experience, all noobs in WvW play thief (all specs) and elementalist (all specs).
The reason is obvious, thieves are invisible most of the time and can take down legions and elementalists have access to countless skills that provide them with very high DPS, healing, defence and crit. Both are super OP.
And that's exactly the problem in WvW these days. These S tire are no longer roam builds, but more and more players use them as regular cloud builds, where today you have 20-30 players just clouding around the blob party, 20 of them gang 1 and run away.
This is getting worse, more and more people are using these builds in WvW. Blob battles are dying out. Commanders will soon become unnecessary. Now it's all about hit and run.
In all the games I've played up to this point, invisibility comes at a great cost to power. What is being done in WvW today is amazing, i honestly don't know what ANET was thinking when they gave 5-6 classes crazy invisibility, mobility and burs damage at the same time.
For me, WvW has become a pastime where i log in for an hour, mostly for power mirage, gang tail, get bored, log out and play other games. I can say with the advent of all these cloud builds and players, my playing time has dropped from an average of 3-4 hours, weekends and more, to a maximum of 1 hour a day.

I agree! Six weeks from being full legendary for medium (Ranger 100%) and heavy (Guardian and I do not even want to finish my last 3 pieces of heavy leg armor0. I quitting for now due the lack of reason to continue. I will return at a later date when I am bored with my other games. Maybe WvW will be much better by early next year.

only a few i would say are off, reaper can be pretty insane against most builds but countered by thief, willbender definitely deserves S tier but the main on i have an issue with is deadeye, i agree its strong but it doesnt play itself and the average dead eye is SO much worse then the average daredevil due to ease of play for daredevils
According this tier list, Spellbreaker is the worst specialisation for warrior however I would say that is the best, probably top-mid A tier (staff/dagger sword is one of the best dueler builds in game holding outnumbered very well). Have a look to pvp meta, this is a really good sidenoder for a reason.
Berserker bottom of A tier and Bladesworn is not worth to play at the moment. (End of B tier as best case)
