Finally a video I can use to make and sew a lining to my Barbie sized unlined coat patterns that simplifies the process of lining a Barbie coat. I enjoy redesigning my Barbie patterns to suit what I'm trying to make (ie adding patch pockets, or sewing the side seams in a way that leaves side slits, adding a belt etc). And although I have basic patterns they are often unlined. This is a big help.

Brilliant, I’ve taught myself to make dolls clothes and really struggled with linings and sleeves. Thank you. 🙏

Thank you! Video was at perfect speed (so many are SO slow lol) and loved the “step #” placeholders too. I’m making faux fur Barbie coats and want to line them so I’ll try your method. 🤞

I hope your project turns out well. I have another video showing coat construction with furry material if you think it would be helpful. th-cam.com/video/NBbYQxPV2Zg/w-d-xo.html

I am following your video now, I am making a kimono for a bear and your step by step procedure in attaching the lining really helps. Thanks

Great little coat. But the finished one has a collar that you didn't show being put on. Sure is cute and simple sewing. Love it.

Thank you for watching. The collar showing is from the little short sleeve top under the coat. The re is a separate video for the top construction.

Hi hi Jude, about a year ago or so I made a few coats for my dolls. I used some craft felt ( I think) and added a cotton fabric on the inside for strength and a finished look. Unfortunately, I had to make my own pattern for them and they turned out great in the bodice part, but the sleeves are a bit too narrow. The doll's hands and arms do get through the sleeves, but it's a wee bit tight. As in the coat sleeves tend to pull up on what ever clothing they're already wearing. So I've been thinking about partially taking apart my work and adding a little more width to those sleeves.

I hope the adjustment to the sleeves works well for your coats.

I'm probably going to have to buy more of some of the colors because I'm running out of them. Which means the coats are on hold until I can get more colors.

I have this pattern for Marley, and it will be very helpful!

The coat can also be finished by leaving an opening in the hem edge and had finishing the sleeve lining to the sleeve. I used this method for a lot of the initial Autumn Stroll and Autumn Spell patterns. Thanks for watching.

Love your designs and videos, thank you so much for them. Just two questions.....I notice that you don't start and end your seams with a backstitch and was wondering if your garments don't pull loose? And then what do you use to line your garments

I use a small stitch length (2-3), which does not seem to pull loose. I do backstitch for back seams and tie off threads for darts. I use lightweight cottons, silk essence and poly to line most garments. Thanks for watching.
