I made one of these for a project once. Used my DeWalt trim router...lol...took the better part of a day but the results from one of these rigs is always nice when properly done. Great work, as usual J. Glad to see you again and staying busy and, most of all, safe. Also, I see you FINALLY got some sawdust on you...lol!

Roland you've already made before what I made. Very good. Actually this jig is what I need, not for video.
I'm warried about your safety from the virus. I'm safe and do the same things as usual. See you.

Another good clean build. Had you thought about making adjustable feet height so you can use it for different thickness blocks? And maybe a wider flatter router bit?
That slab of tree trunk has lovely grain/ring pattern? What will it be when you've finished it?

    Hello,
nice to see you still made video.
Great, I hope you're all right.
    Nice job, and good idea.
In the begining of the video, what is the tool you use to pre-drill ? It seems to be usefull

question: would I be able to use that jig with a Makita Trimming Router? Or does can it only be used with a plunge router? great vid btw :-)

You'd better use it with a plunge router.

Nice jig! Would it work as well if we use a larger router bit or would it leave too many marks or too hard on the router?

    • @j-woodworking9573
      @j-woodworking9573  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think you could uses a larger bit.
When I moved the router quickly on the work face, many marks appeared and surface was rough.
      Thanks for watching sir.

@@j-woodworking9573 I've done this successfully with my 2-1/2hp dewalt router and a short 1" straight bit with a slight shearing angle. The straight bit is easier to hone (and less expensive) to replace. In my case, I found uneven downward force was making the surface rough. A heavier router seems to be an advantage here, sandpaper of course fixes all this :-)
