- Hi guys. In this video I explain key points in CompTIA A+ prep that can become a game-changer in the way to prepare for the exam and on the exam result. I failed CompTIA Core 1 on my first attempt after which I changed my prep strategy completely. Once I've done this, I've never failed any other certification exam.

Yes! I would recommend to anyone taking a CompTIA exam (any of them) to go over that objective list, and briefly explain them from your own understanding, one by one. I think it's a great exercise!
The CompTIA certs is on my bucket list. My goal at 60 years old is to pass A+, Network +, and Linux +
Amazing, good luck!!
after that you can try cloud + and AWS
good luck
I agree about the practice thing. I gathered every practice test and answer them seriously and learning in the process. I wasn’t even 100% confident in taking core1 today but I say, fu** it, I want to see what I got.
The trick to passing is not having enough money in the bank account to take it twice. Atleast thats what my brother LOL it was funny and made sense you study harder.
Well, this trick works with many things in life, not only A+ 😁
I’m currently reading the Mike Myers book. I also have his Udemy courses and practice test for both test and have Dion’s course and practice test as well. I had heard about the Exam Cram book but you convinced me to buy it. I’m also going to buy Professor Messers practice test. Thank you for these very useful tips!
Thank you very much for sharing your learning experience, it was very informative 😊
Excellent advice.
I passed my A+ core 1 today! Thanks!
hello bro , congrats. Please how did you pass it, like your preparations and how was the nature of the exam. I am trying to kickstart my IT journey by preparing for the comptia a+ cert
@@kentex121 do more practice exams
Yes on the different tests. Use different sources and use different practice tests, because it'll help you understand concepts more clearly as every quiz will frame a question differently. I got my "aha!" moment after I thought long and hard about TechVault referring to "asset tracking" and realising it was about "inventory control" which was also referenced in one of Dion's tests. It's the same thing, but my brain wouldn't have been able to connect the dots if I didn't use like 6 different sources.
Thanks, I realized I need to 📚 review better, too. I did all the packages and was rushing thru...😢
I’m taking core 1 in a couple days! Thanks for the info !
Good luck!!
@@jamaabouttech passed with a 715!
@@jbs2763 Well-done, congrats!!!

What books would you recommend for 2024
I passed the security+ the first time likely to pass the network+ the first time around but that first part of the A+ took me three times
Hi, I recently bought the jason dion practice exams and have been doing them and any other resources I could find online, especially examcompass's free questions. Would you say the examcompass questions are easier compared to the questions on the exam? I've also been watching powercert animated videos and am hoping to pass by the end of the month :) Thank you for the informative video
Be careful with exam compass, cause I believe they’ve got brain dump questions. Therefore, don’t rely on their correct answers and don’t memorize the questions.
I’d advise to attempt Jason Dion’s practice exams and have a clear idea of why you answered incorrect questions incorrectly.
Exam was slightly harder than questions available only, but if you approach each question with great attention to detail and logical thinking you should be fine.
@@jamaabouttech Back after a month to say I've passed and am now a+ certified using the professor messer and dion practice tests + chatgpt to explain anything i was unsure of 🙂
I totally understand needing to pass on the first try for psychology reasons. I’m struggling right now because I didn’t pass on my first attempt and I’m in my head doubting myseld
This happened to me too. Please remember that one fail doesn't define your ability to perform on this exam and be successful in your career. This is just an exam.
I can understand that it would affect your confidence, but don't give up! Find a study buddy if you think that might help. I'm in a discord group with other people trying to go for their A+ certs and even before we've had a study session, I've been motivated to work hard just to see where I'm at when I do study with them this Saturday.
what were your practice exam scores? I've been scoring in the 60% on most practice exams cant score higher :( any tips been studying for about 3 months now
Hi David. Do you have an approximate idea of which areas most of your mistakes are in? Do you review EVERY question after practice test?
hi there
can you please tell the name of thinner book you mentioned in video by jason.. Thanks in advance
Thinner book is called ‘Comptia A+ Exam Cram’
thanks@@jamaabouttech
Back in 2008 I passed the 602 exam which at the time was told I passed the harder test first that I should’ve taken the 601 test first which was IT essentials(aka core 1 today). Should’ve taken the 601 exam a couple of months later but life got in the way and I took it a year later and failed. I didn’t want to go through that again so I just went on without it in my IT career. Fast forward 14 years I took my 1101 this past July and passed and my 1102 two weeks ago and passed. I’m studying for the Security+ now as I’m already in a networking environment and that’s my job so to take the Network + wouldn’t make sense but I’ll probably still take it after the Security + exam.
Thank you for sharing your story, it’s definitely inspirational.
Given that you’re in networking domain, why don’t you consider taking Cisco examinations instead of Network+?
@@jamaabouttech I’ve been down that road it expired years ago with the CCNA I’m just looking to get the Security+ then network + and maybe Cloud Essentials but definitely the Security + and Network +
@@Ciscoguy30 Understood. Good luck then!
any tips to get started without any certs? Going for an Associates rn in Networking idk where to start with getting a job. Thanks.
@@bozy0223well for me my journey started in 2002 just after my associates degree I was hired by a School District through job placement through my college. It’s a good starting point but for a career better chance is with a private sector. I graduated with my bachelors 18 years ago but from what I have seen at least in job searches indeed, zip recruiter etc A+ and all other certs are preferred or required. Seems there is a shift in what’s required certs over a degree. Don’t do what I did and overload yourself. Good luck on your Certs.
U did not Pass the exam, thats what i saw on my screen today :/ i think it was close, i needed 30 more points to pass.
this hits me hard, but im going after a week or 2 again.
So sorry to hear that… I’m sure you will pass on your second attempt.
I need 25 points to pass, it was a bummer, but I realized the mistakes I did. I rushed the exam and was overconfident instead of using my time wisely. If I had answers the PBQ correctly I would’ve passed it today.
Great video, do you think the virtual labs are worth it?
I assume you’re asking virtual labs provided by comptia? If yes, then it depends.
If after courses available online and practice tests, you still feel like you understand NOTHING about performance-based questions of the exam, then yes.
@@jamaabouttech Thanks for the reply. I have experience with building and upgrading computers as well as troubleshooting pretty much everything. I’m really trying to keep the cost down and not buy materials that teach me what i already know.
What is the difference between exam cram and Mike Myers book? Exam cram has 1447 pages.
Are you talking about specific exam cram for comptia A+?
Yes, I’m talking about exam cram comptia a+. Book’s photo should come up if you google ‘exam cram comptia a+’
So you would suggest the video over reading the book?
Depends on what you are more comfortable with. I did both for my exam.
is jy afrikaans of is dit net ek wat so dink
How many months of study do I need to pass
Depends on the amount of your daily study hours
@@jamaabouttech I can do about two hours a day 😊
I think around 2-3 months @@alarmsquadnj
I just passed my Core2 today. Now how can I get the actual Cert ?? :D
If you passed both core 1 and core 2, you’ll get an email from them within a week or so to confirm you address for the certificate
Hi where are u from
Azerbaijan
0:00 is that a fact? I'm certain that number is much higher.
Hi, could you please correct the time-stamp? It is 0:00 atm
@@jamaabouttech that is the appropriate time stamp. You said "55 pct of students fail the comptia exam. I am asking you is that a fact, and if so where did you source that information. As an comptia a+ instructor I can identify that a lot of beginners fail the exam which make up a bulk of students actually taking the exam.
