I know of at least six from the Cowboys in the Hall of Fame. (Staubach, Smith, Dorsett, Randy White, Drew Pearson, and Harris). Maybe there was one or two more. But that's all I can think of.
I agree 100%! Landry did blow the game on the opening drive by trying to show how smart he is by calling that double reverse. Dorsett was getting in solid runs on that first drive. Mean Joe Greene has said he was glad they stopped feeding the ball to Dorsett. After those first few runs by Dorsett Greene stated that he and other Steelers defenders were thinking "It's gonna be a long day." Jimmy Johnson would have told Dorsett to shove that ball up the Steelers a$$.

I hated that the Steelers won. I thought for sure Roger and the Cowboys would get it back from the loss in SB 10 but it was the Steelers time and it wasn’t a total loss for Dallas because they won the year before in SB 12. There were a lot of great teams back then , so for a team like Pittsburgh to win those 4 SB’s was an amazing achievement.
Jackie Smith was a great tight end with the Saint Louis Cardinals, this was his last hurrah for a championship, all true football fans felt that drop with him .
Did you know that the official that threw the pass interference flag on Bennie Barnes is the same guy who was the referee in the “Immacule Reception” game.
@@mikevanriel7573 Watch the NBC version of the play and look where Dirt Winston is at when they unpile the players! Dirt Winston is number 53! He is standing watching the officials unpile the players!
18 point lead with 4 minutes left in the game? Pittsburgh started going easy which allowed the Cowboys to catch up to a 4 point deficit. Blaming Jackie Smith for the dropped pass is a terrible excuse. Either way, Pittsburgh would win that day
This shoulda been a blowout ...that onside kick changed the whole last few minutes... plus the Steelers played prevent the whole 4th quarter. I hate prevent...it just prevents nothing....
@@davidsafely732 steelers were up 35 17 then played prevent. If they woulda stayed on it It could've been worse the Steelers shoulda blowed them out...it already was until they played prevent the whole 4th quarter.
39:52 both Barnes and Swann got their feet tangled up. That was no interference but the idiot back judge called and it. It got the Cowboys so lose focus that they were able score two drives. Then the Henderson hit after the whistle. Then on 3rd and 9 Franco Harris was mad he demanded the ball and just ran like a mad man for that touchdown. The Gerella slipping down and Randy White fumbling the ball that the Steelers recovered. Next play Bradshaw threw that touchdown to Swann and that was the game. All from that one pass interference play led to those chain of events. The Steelers took advantage the Cowboys just fell mentally.
Too many forget that John Stallworth missed the entire second half. Every single play. Pittsburgh was forced to play with one hand tied behind their back, a huge disadvantage. Nevertheless, Dallas was not able to overtake and defeat them, even in that severely weakened condition.
Landry had 'The System'. Chuck Noll had said you win by doing ordinary things better than anybody else. The easiest thing to do in football is run the ball. Then Landry had to get cute with some trickery on that opening drive when Dorsett was looking All-World. Coaching doomed Dallas just as much as any missed play or errantly called penalty in SB 13.
Bah. Make no mistake about it, Dallas fielded insanely good teams in the '70s. The '78 Cowboy team was literally one of the best teams of all time. Unfortunately, they ran into perhaps the SINGLE BEST TEAM OF ALL TIME, any year, any generation. The '78 Steelers are likely at the top of all Steeler teams in terms of greatness.
Cliff Harris and Charlie Watters were the weak links of the doomsday defense. They both are in Lynn Swann and Stallworth highlights getting burnt, missing tackles and taking the wrong angles. The Steelers had better safeties.
Dude, you're high. Dallas safeties included a HOF safety and the other was EXTREMELY good. Shell and Wagner were friggin ANIMALS at S, but one would split hairs to say which duo was better than the other. You reek of bias
I'm a die hard Steelers fan, but that PI call on Barnes was, well, a horrible call. THEN AGAIN, the official was RIGHT THERE. Either way, on that drive, u weren't keepin' Pgh. outta the end zone.
However, I could also argue that Dallas wins 31-28 if Randy White doesn't fumble the fourth-quarter kickoff. Dallas made plenty of mistakes, including three turnovers that led to Steeler touchdowns. Also, if Pittsburgh recovers the onside kick that everyone knew was coming, we're not talking about this being one of the best Super Bowls.
😂😂 When Dallas played the 49ers it was always DOOMSDAY & when DOOMSDAY played the STEEL CURTAIN in the 70s it was the Steelers. Against VIKINGS, COWBOYS (2) and the RAMS. *Cant jump on the bandwagon I didn’t watch the BIG BEN Super Bowl wins it wasn’t the same as the 70s victories. FOOTBALL don’t FEEL THE SAME for me anymore. I can’t tell you why?
It was low but catchable. However, as I said in an earlier post, I think Smith's slipping in the end zone messed up his timing and made the catch more difficult.
Hmm. Watched the replay. The lineman blew the cowboy out that they whine the official was in the way. Nobody was close to touching Franco. They can't admit either the call was correct against them the execution of the offense was perfect or that little play they had planned they screwed up. Not Bradshaw. Plus a hall of fame runner such as Franco. You can stop them most of the day, but they find a way to make a play or 2 . That's why he is Franco
Even though I am an die hard eagles fan, for I bleed green, this game at even 40 years later, I still rooted from my heart against the Steelers. I wanted Dallas to win this super bowl so badly. And by the way, even though the eagles finally won a super bowl, this Super Bowl, this was by far the best Super Bowl game ever. It had more drama, more hall of famers, more back stories, and some controversial calls, and I still think the refs helped the Steelers out a bit, and I hate the Cowboys, but I rooted for Roger, Tony Dorsett, and Drew Pearson. This was the greatest Super Bowl game ever, and the most pain I ever felt in a super bowl game. And I am a die hard Eagle fan, with 2 Super Bowl losses( Raiders- Patriots), but this game still hurts over 43 years later. The game was that good. This game had my favorite receivers, Lynn Swan and Drew Pearson. My favorite Quarterback Roger, my favorite running back Tony Dorsett, The great legendary Mean Joe Greene, Terry Bradshaw, the great John Stalworth, Jack Lambert, and Randy White, and more. Both coaches are hall of famers. The game had everything and more, and went down to the last 23 seconds. The Cowboys never gave up, and they kept coming back despite the mistakes they made, they kept coming. Such drama. Best Super Bowl game ever.
Forgot Ham, until LT , the gtratest outside linebacker. From NYC but my blood is black n gold , have to admit , Tony Dorset was my favorite RB. Greater breakaway runner than Barry Sanders. Barry was more elusive. Walter was the strongest of the three. Juice , Dickerson ,Gale Sayers, great strides, breathtaking! Franco homeboy and a true class act.
Shoot, Brady play in THAT ERA... He wouldn't have lasted 7 seasons. Dallas still has more wins vs the Steelers. It's Cleveland that truly has had Dallas's number over the decades.
Yes, "they did" and Pete Rozelle "admitted it" as such after reviewing the tape. One of the last BAD calls was when Lynn Swann interfered with Benny Barnes and Barnes got the call instead. Rozelle mentioned it "specifically".
Dallas should have won that game by 17 points . All the big plays went against them . The smith drop , the bs PI on Barnes , the Randy white fumble on Garella slipping . , Stallworth out of bounds first TD , bleier making a 1 in 10 catch and Stallworth s second TD 4 Cowboys missed the tackle and Franco’s TD shoukd have never happened cause of ref running into Waters and also the nullified the Henderson Sack .
Bradshaw admitted that in SB14, Rams and Ferragamo made him more uncomfortable and nervous than Cowboys and Staubach did in SB13. Once the score was 35-17, Bradshaw knew it was over.
No he didn’t. When it was 35-17, his teammates were celebrating like it was over, he told his teammates to quit celebrating because this game was far from over because he knew that Dallas could come back which they did.
i don't know i feel like cowboys was playing catch up in this Superbowl . pretty much Dallas got there ass kick and this game shouldn't be in here . what chances cowboys would got 2 onside kicks in row

That’s the play that cost the cowboys the SB
chilhood favorite team n' S.B.
💛🖤go Steelers 🖤💛
Smith’s drop came from the fact that staubach’s pass was low forcing Smith catch while in a slide. It wasn’t a gimme by any means.
Stealers and Cowboys are the first two teams i knew about at 6 years old in 1975.
I know of at least six from the Cowboys in the Hall of Fame. (Staubach, Smith, Dorsett, Randy White, Drew Pearson, and Harris). Maybe there was one or two more. But that's all I can think of.
As much as I don't like these two teams it was a great Superbowl
From a long time Steeler fan, thank you for appreciate great football
landry blew this game in the first quarter...😒🤦♂️
No he didn't blow it, grow up. How old were you when you watched this... did you watch it live...
I agree 100%! Landry did blow the game on the opening drive by trying to show how smart he is by calling that double reverse. Dorsett was getting in solid runs on that first drive. Mean Joe Greene has said he was glad they stopped feeding the ball to Dorsett. After those first few runs by Dorsett Greene stated that he and other Steelers defenders were thinking "It's gonna be a long day." Jimmy Johnson would have told Dorsett to shove that ball up the Steelers a$$.
. Think about it. The Steelers were so good, the NFL changed 2 rules...
How cool are you when there's a rule named after you? The Mel Blount Rule totally changed football, made it much easier to complete passes.
Dallas Cowboys Won 4 Super Bowl Championship 1971 1977 1992 And 1993 Last But Not Least Pittsburgh Steelers Won 4 Super Bowl Championship 1974 1975 1978 And 1979 ☺🏈Thanks For Uploading
Dallas won 5, Pittsburgh won 6
@@ajburrr Yeah, I have no idea what that guy is talking about...he's missing Dallas '95 (over the Steelers, joke/awful game) and both '05 and '08 wins for the Steelers.
Mel Blount, Hall of Famer, on the Tony Hill TD....literally had no idea what was going on. Wow.
Jackie Smith was a great tight end with the Saint Louis Cardinals, this was his last hurrah for a championship, all true football fans felt that drop with him .
Tony Dungy was the man who recovered the R.White fumble!!!
Wrong! Tony Dungy was the guy that caused the Randy White fumble. Dennis Winston recovered the fumble.
Dungy forced it, Dirt Winston recovered it, and the Cowboys were buried.
8:15, wonder how much that 1922 gold piece worth $372 then is worth now
The same with the 76 bicentennial coin
18 point lead with 4 minutes left in the game? Pittsburgh started going easy which allowed the Cowboys to catch up to a 4 point deficit. Blaming Jackie Smith for the dropped pass is a terrible excuse.
Either way, Pittsburgh would win that day
45 years ago today!
Épico. Como aqueos vs. troyanos. Lo dioses se decantaron por los Steelers.
I always thought it was smiths fault no that penalty on Barnes sucked
This shoulda been a blowout ...that onside kick changed the whole last few minutes... plus the Steelers played prevent the whole 4th quarter. I hate prevent...it just prevents nothing....
Blow out... blow out for who...
@@davidsafely732 steelers were up 35 17 then played prevent.
If they woulda stayed on it It could've been worse the Steelers shoulda blowed them out...it already was until they played prevent the whole 4th quarter.
The only thing Prevent Defense does that it prevents your team from winning.
This game was about the biggest play that didn't happen. I remember it, but does anyone else?
Dallas was considered America’s Team however Steeler Nation was the best. They were vibrant and TRAVELED! Way more Steeler fans.
The first Superbowl I watched
Bradshaw was great at the end. We beat them every time I played them. If we played them again we would beat them again. Right on Terry.
WIN, LOSE OR TIE STEELERS FAN UNTIL I DIE!! GO BLITZBURG!!!
Me too brother , me too,!!
The two best teams of the70s
I’d only draft 6’3” safetys
Proverbs 16:19
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
can you do a super bowl 42 nfl films.
The Cowboys are always the best team on paper
Toilet paper.
In your dreams
yea.. especially when you look up the most wins playoff wins in nfl history..and then print that piece of paper. 👋🤡
The Steelers made just a few more plays .
Two champion teams .
Cliff Harris and Charlie Watters were the weak links of the doomsday defense. They both are in Lynn Swann and Stallworth highlights getting burnt, missing tackles and taking the wrong angles. The Steelers had better safeties.
They just different have the speed to keep up with Swann and Stallworth.
Dude, you're high. Dallas safeties included a HOF safety and the other was EXTREMELY good.
Shell and Wagner were friggin ANIMALS at S, but one would split hairs to say which duo was better than the other.
You reek of bias
stallworth had one foot in on the first touchdown..😒🙄
Another example of biased officiating. Instant replay has come a long way since then.
I always thought he wasn't inbounds myself, oh well lol
I'm a die hard Steelers fan, but that PI call on Barnes was, well, a horrible call. THEN AGAIN, the official was RIGHT THERE. Either way, on that drive, u weren't keepin' Pgh. outta the end zone.
If Jackie Smith makes that catch this game probably goes into OT.
It was fun in those days to see Dallas get beat.
Butch Johnson's TD catch would be ruled incomplete by today's NFL standards.
14:15 not a touchdown today
😂😂 When Dallas played the 49ers it was always DOOMSDAY & when DOOMSDAY played the STEEL CURTAIN in the 70s it was the Steelers. Against VIKINGS, COWBOYS (2) and the RAMS. *Cant jump on the bandwagon I didn’t watch the BIG BEN Super Bowl wins it wasn’t the same as the 70s victories. FOOTBALL don’t FEEL THE SAME for me anymore. I can’t tell you why?
Listening to The Steelers talking like that now since the scandal has bee. They WERE m y heroes
Staubach threw that ball to Jackie Smith too low.
No it was good.
It was low but catchable. However, as I said in an earlier post, I think Smith's slipping in the end zone messed up his timing and made the catch more difficult.
Charlie Watters please pass the salt haha
E-A-G-L-E-S!!
No I didn’t forget Jack Ham, he was among the others as was Mel Blount, wow what a team, what a game.
dude you not a eagles fan if you was you never root for NFC east team to win a Superbowl. you only eagles bangwanger fan
Imagine, Brady & Belichick cross path with Emperor Chaz's Steelers...
Shoot, Brady play in THAT ERA... He wouldn't have lasted 7 seasons. Dallas still has more wins vs the Steelers. It's Cleveland that truly has had Dallas's number over the decades.
That bad call probably cost the Cowboys the SB.
Heard a lot about this game. Clear after watching that Dallas was the better team that day. Refs ripped them off.
He’s a communist, going against “America’s team” ,Oh Roger , such a sense of humor, he never let it out .
i don't know i feel like cowboys was playing catch up in this Superbowl . pretty much Dallas got there ass kick and this game shouldn't be in here . what chances cowboys would got 2 onside kicks in row
Face nah 3:02
Why or why. Didn't run more, didn't pass over middle. Steelers receivers always open. Rush wasn't good against. With. Bradshaw Benny barns. Never. Touched. Swan. Minus 7 pts. 15. It's turnaround
COWBOYS shot themselves in the foot too many times to win. Randy White taking the kickoff with a broken arm fumble, Smith's wide open TD bumble
I’ll never understand WTF Randy white was doing……
Cowboys fans need to understand they had to lose this game in order to be called “America’s Team”.
& im obviously not a COWBOYS FAN , I HATE THEM JUST so much AS I do KC,& DENVER.. I believe J. HAM IS THE BRST OR GREATEST WSLB..BUT I always thought Henderson was aWSLB NOT A STRONG SIDE LB... I think he played out of position his whole career & I always wondered if that contributed to his drug habit ...
Anytime the cowgirls lose is a great day
And Fred is a Communist I heard .' LOL 😆 That's pretty funny.. BUT they are lucky because Swann walks in2 the End zone
Not sure I am that excited about this year's Super Bowl. Have not been since the leage became the Knee Eff Ell to me, but let's face it; we'll have two losing SB teams all time facing off on Sunday. Best case, one of them gets to 0.500 all time. Best case. One solice, one of them will be the winner. May it be rigged; but we all know it is in todays professional sports. Good luck!
Evidence please
@@nala3038 Evidence? You did not see those two ref calls? Obvious collusion going on.
