It would be natural if the arm never moves but the fact that it moves toward the ball is at least worthy of a VAR check

I'm an RSL fan and have no love for SKC. Whether the arm was at his side or not, that ball was saved from going in by his arm. I would be furious if it was against my team. Either the ref missed it, or the rules need to be altered.
A question could also be asked: If a defender has his hands clasped behind his back to prevent a hand ball and the ball still glances off his arm, preventing an otherwise sure goal, would that still be fair to call a hand ball? Where is the line drawn?

Vancouver Whitecaps fan here, i feel bad for sporting as i think that was a clear handball to keep them from scoring. After how our whitecaps season ended with the ref bodychecking our midfielder down i have a hard time taking this league serious these days.

Reminds me of the 2002 FIFA World Cup game. FIFA have learned since then that it can't just be about natural. Therefore, the FIFA rules are not just if the arm is in a natural position but if it has an impact on a goal being scored. In this case, arm is in a natural position but the arm blocks what was clearly going to be a goal scored. That means PENALTY and PK kick awarded to KC.
So WTH is he supposed to do? Chop his fucking arm off and throw it on the ground?

These comments are amazing. Open your eyes people. Look at the video and realize not one frame of video evidence is clear about that play. You can't tell whether the ball hits his chest or his arm. Ref had live view and saw chest. YOU don't have any idea of what happened just like everyone else.

bro we played like we were asleep. Jake Davis sold today and Agada held us back when he went in. We really missed Logan Ndembe that game. Pulido has sucked these games, and Danny Rosero is asleep. Tim Melia played great on the corner those headers are near impossible to save, we need rosero to jump and header it away. Tim Leibold played better than anyone and hasn’t played in a game forever. Vermes hates playing our younger players so everyone is slow as hell on our team. Our average player age is like 31! Everyone knew that it was Zusi and Espinoza’s last game before they retire. I love Roger, he is a veteran and decent, but he’s too old. Tough ending to our season.
Houston got away with not one, but two handballs in the box (41’ and 93’). MLS needs to prepare a statement why the error occurred and how they plan to fix it for next year, as this is unacceptable officiating at this level.

I think the Pro Referee guys need to spend times working with FIFA officials in overseas games. Not just any officials but top rated officials for those leagues.

I don't understand why everyone is saying it was a clear handball. If that's a handball, where can a defender put his arm? His arm was right by his side, so if an arm directly at the side = handball, this would require all defenders to put their hands behind their backs when playing defense.

The Cincinnati game and the Dynamo game were decided on questionable calls. The Cincinnati goal was offside and KC should have gotten a penalty kick, possibly with the Dynamo player sent off. I hope the league takes a hard look into the use of VAR and having capable people handle it. MLS is gaining interest every year, has a bright future, is a lot of fun, but bad calls in important games may ruin it. BTW, I'm a Dynamo fan and, on balance, the Dynamo should have won regardless.

As a neutral fan, the handball is hard to judge. From first glance you can say obvious handball. But its more of forearm and it is Ball to “Hand” , not “hand” to ball. You can fight the back of goal angle when the defender made the arm adjustment which could have been called as a pen since per IFAB rule armpit and down is considered handball unless in natural position lol so ref should have been sent to monitor unless something was obvious to VAR
You can't tell whether ball hit arm or he pulled the arm back out of the way and it hit his chest. Every second of video evidence is unclear on that.
I’d say the damning evidence in favor of handball would be his arm starts high and then moves lower in to the path of the ball after it’s kicked.
you could argue from that point if it’s deliberate or not. But undoubtedly, the action of his arm swinging downward toward the ball stops the goal.
I agree that his arm starts high and moves down into the path of the ball. However, it's also moving down to be tight to the body, which is where his arm is "supposed" to be in these situations. I understand SKC fans feeling hard done by this decision (and I am NOT a HOU fan), but I can't get behind calling a PK when the arm is tight to the body. @@kylenguyen3529

Train these guys how to shoot. Get them some pool tables. Teach them how to strike with full power while keeping the ball down. If you want to beat the goalkeeper, you need high velocity firepower. You've got to put your whole body into the strike.
