I am looking for options for 2 main features. 1) I would like to be able to view historical satellite imagery....find closed road systems that are currently hidden by timber growth (area logged 8 years ago or wildfire from a few years back). 2) Ability to select landowners....major timber companies in WA that now charge huge access fees adjoined by smaller companies that allow access...I want to select a company and have all of its lands overlayed with a transparent specific color). 3) I am red/green colorblind and many lines, features are not able to be differentiated from another. Thanks for your review.
Does it show weather forecast like OnX, and does it update in a timely fashion? That's one of my biggest gripes with OnX next to the map in my area not showing the difference between summer foliage and fall/winter. Its the end of November and mine still shows summer foliage smh.
I agree on the price since I hunt multiple states. They are adding some new weather items too that are handy and the features you mentioned are nice too. The hi res layer is nice but the topo lines are too hard to read so I go with low res. There are also fishing features which is a plus. My biggest issue is saving a marker and then it is no where near where I put it. Not sure what causes that. I have used both HuntStand and Onx before and they all have their good parts.
Totally agree! I’ve had both apps in the past and I will be using basemap exclusively from now on purely based on cost. I usually try to hunt in at least two different states and I refuse to pay an extra $70 for On-x, which doesn’t work any different than BaseMap.
I have both apps... both work very well... not to worried about the cost... but the imagery is much better with BaseMap... and it's been my experience that BaseMap updates land ownership much faster than On X. I tried basemaps this last year. I had lots of issues. I constantly had layer issues that I had to contact the company about and have them fix. When I would try offline, it was fine when I was still within service. But when I was in the back country and really needed it, it was blurry and missing layers. I really wanted it to work, but it was a struggle to use this last year. Maybe it was just me or my phone. I don't have a high dollar phone. Like I said, I really wanted it to work, but it was very inconsistent. Have you had any layering issues? Or issues with saved maps working fine, but later losing its clarity and layers?
Tried them both and several others. The BaseMap satellite maps are alway more recent. Have lived on the property 3 years and onX still shows the old landowner. Only thing I currently would love is more marker designs and the ability to switch marker designs base colors.

My question is can I share way points with them with basemap like you can when using onx so if I get a downed animal they know where I am? Thanks!

They said on Rokslide that the onX had better trail marking and roads just trying to make best choice.. is that correct or has that changed?

For me it's image quality and zoom ability. Do both companies use different satellites or something??
