Such a beautiful old hymn!!!! I loved it as a kid when my dad was just an old fashioned song leader!!!! We sang it often!!! Brings back such sweet memories!!! It will always be a great hymn of God's faithfulness and security!!!! Yes, I an anchored!!!!
My Mother loved this song so much that it was sung at her home going service. As I listen to the words I can understand why she loved it so much. It totally describes how she lived here and how she lives today. Thanks guys.
I was in the Navy once upon a time. The lyrics just reach out and grab me every time I hear it. This song has gotten me through a lot. Definitely a binge worthy song! The haven of rest is MY Lord. It is so personal and real.
I bet Daddy (and Mom) are proud of their boys and that would be understandable. You can feel the Holy Spirit in their singing. I'm blessed by hearing them.
My soul in sad exile was out on life’s sea, So burdened with sin and distressed, Till I heard a sweet voice, saying, “Make Me your choice”; And I entered the “Haven of Rest”! Refrain: I’ve anchored my soul in the “Haven of Rest,” I’ll sail the wide seas no more; The tempest may sweep over wild, stormy, deep, In Jesus I’m safe evermore. I yielded myself to His tender embrace, In faith taking hold of the Word, My fetters fell off, and I anchored my soul; The “Haven of Rest” is my Lord. The song of my soul, since the Lord made me whole, Has been the old story so blest, Of Jesus, who’ll save whosoever will have A home in the “Haven of Rest.” How precious the thought that we all may recline, Like John, the beloved so blest, On Jesus’ strong arm, where no tempest can harm, Secure in the “Haven of Rest.” Oh, come to the Savior, He patiently waits To save by His power divine; Come, anchor your soul in the “Haven of Rest,” And say, “My Beloved is mine.”
Yes when we are in the heaven of rest we are surly safe forever. When we are in that place we have thst inner peace that only Jesus can give us. It doesn't matter when you know that satan is sending his evil demon after you because you find in your heart the true love that Jesus has for you when you are in that place. When he say there is nothing that can pull you out his hands because of the love he has you that is very true. When you have Jesus in your life and you put him Lord of your life you will know that nothing can harm you as long as he has your life in his hands. Thank for your song God bless
In today's erosion of Christian values, (translations, 7-11 songs and songs with no history) as a young child I remember hearing these magnificent Christian songs and melodies. I lived in Chicago and our radio was tuned to WMBI Moody Bible Institute. I'd hear my mother singing these songs as she cooked and did house work. What a blessing we are missing today by forgetting The truths of God's word embracing these old wonderful melodies.
This song should be implemented into everyday life and things would improve in Jesus holy name but the cathedral's sing it best bless everyone who hears this song.
Oh Wow! I'm new to the Booth Brothers....Discovered them in Jan. 2014, and what struck me most about them is you can see how much they love singing about the Lord. I see by this video, that nothing has changed. It's not just another song to them, it's real each time they sing.
I could not stop listening to the Booth brothers singing Haven of Rest. I live in Australia and there is just a limited stock of Booth Brothers CDs and Gaither vocal band can anyone tell me where to buy?

A testimony to good parenting when a Christian father's influence is like an anchor in a world of turmoil; and his sons follow in his steps!!!
