The entire reason Jinjer has their present popularity is Vlad. He joined 2016.
He is one of the main composers since joining. Classically trained on piano. Also plays guitar. He is completely self-taught on drums. I believe he treats his kit as a reversed piano keyboard, and he arranges all his parts around the melodies and dynamics as a pianist would. All his accents are placed perfectly and his drum parts complete compositions in and of themselves, totally in synch with the tunes. His snare is the focal point of the music. He is one of the best and most original drummers ever. Watch his live playthrough of Vortex. Genius.

Ravel. That's what the advanced use of dissonance and atonality remind me of. Like Ma Mere L'Oye or La Pavane de Couperin. The subtle shifts into and out of dissonance, the momentary colorations. It really is quite classical in nature. And jazzy. Very emotionally evocative. Like it's pulling an emotion out of you that you can't put a name to.
Some of the things I like about this song: Tatiana does a couple of those growled R sounds, which I love. Like on "forwarrrd" and "returrrn." And I love the rhythmic way she sings along with the freaky instrumental cadence on "The ark is on the tide, the tide is high. Keep it safe and sound, what you have inside." That rhythm of "1-2-3, and 5, 1-2-3, and 5," in a 6/8, is so freaking cool. And then the start of the second verse, when she goes "Something went wrong, huh?" That "Huh?" with the question mark is the sickest sound. And the little smile that goes along with that on the OMV is priceless. Also I love the end part where she's singing "Skies are falling Noah," etc. Especially on the studio version of Noah, with a synthesizer augmenting the guitar, that totally reminds me of "Faithless" by Rush, from their great Snakes & Arrows album.
Great reaction as always, mate. I think it takes your level of sophistication to truly appreciate and extoll the many virtues of Jinjer. I'm here for it! Might have to check your Whitney Houston vid too. Love me some Whitney. Honestly I think Tatiana is the same kind of vocal unicorn as Whitney. Once in a generation voices. Nobody could touch Whitney for tone. I feel the same way about Tati.
One song that's rarely reacted to, but it's one of my favorites, is Just Another. Yeah, it's "just another" Jinjer song, but it's packed with delicious sounds!

Oh 100%. I'm with you. And thank you for your kind words.
Also, might I just add that you are clearly a man who has deep appreciation and love for the written word. I, too, love me a well-written chunk of prose. Kudos!

There is a video out there of Vlad playing Rochmaninoff out there, so I would say that's Vlads influence.

I would imagine with Vlad being one of the main composers and coming from a classical piano background, that some of the influences you mentioned would creep into the mix.

It took me a quite a few listens to warn up to this song. It is on one of my gym mixes and turned out be a really good song to lift to, specially for heavy weight on the bench press.

just looked up the tab ....
intro starts in 4 , verse does indeed keep bouncing back-and-forth between 7 and 5 on alternating bars
also, to answer your question about whether classical influence is in their wheelhouse ... perhaps not for the other 3 (i'm not quite sure), but very much so for Vlad. if you'd be interested, here's him on piano playing Rachmaninov - Prelude in C# minor

It´s always a pleasure hearing a new Jinjer reaction/analysis from you. You explain everything so well and for someone thirsty for more musical knowledge you really bring it, in details so thank you! Vlad studied classical piano from young age as well as being a great guitar player (Like yourself! 😉). So you can clearly here that classical influence when Vlad becomes more involved in writing their music. If I remember correctly Vlad wrote most of the songs on the Wallflowers album. As you probably know "Jinjer: Alive in Los Angeles" was just released last month and they´re currently recording a new album. A little bird told me that we can expect some singles being released before September if everything goes as planned!! So there´s lots of new Jinjer content for us to feast on and I can´t wait to hear your reactions! 😁❤‍🔥

"Noah" is from their 2019 album Macro, "Pisces" is from their 2016 album King of Everything.
For me, the 1st 2 verse sections kind of drone & drag, but I definitely enjoy the chords and melody (odd as it might be) of the choruses, as well as the outro. This song is definitely in the bottom 50% of Jinjer songs for me, but it has its moments.
Macro is an incredible album, though. Here's the track list - you've reacted to almost all of them:
    1. On the Top
    2. Pit of Consciousness
    3. Judgement (& Punishment)
    4. Retrospection
    5. Pausing Death
    6. Noah
    7. Home Back
    8. The Prophecy
    9. lainnereP

The Triplet Expose was the most technical display of the technique I could ever hope to see.
How about a classical piano rendition of Clowncore complete with an oddly shaped airbag that pops out of the piano at the end.

If you compare this to the studio version, the live version is a lot more atonal, which makes me think that Roman's guitar is actually a bit out of tune in this one.
