Been brewing for several years now and only just done a SMASH, it was an Amarillo SMASH and OMG 🥳 it is lovely brilliant AMAZING. Great mouth feel lovely and juicy. No idea why I've not brewed it before. Another great episode cheers from over the pond 👍🍻
It's probably because their stupid enough to wear masks 😷. I know it's why I'm not going to watch them. I don't care if it was 2 years ago. I'd delete that shit off the channel. I loved his new shorts videos. But then I clicked on this video and saw the masks. Definitely instant Unsubscribe!!!
As a quick note on water chemistry, check your city's tap water quality report for if they use chlorine or chloramine for disinfection, if they use chloramine instead, letting it stand overnight will not cause the chloramine to evaporate which can cause all kinds of problems down the line!
So glad to have chlorine free, soft, clean tab water so I don't have to deal with water chemistry. Great beginner video, I hope it made people to brew their own beer.
Fun video! I just made my first IPA and I was so tempted to do a smash, but I just had to tweak it...just a touch of crystal malt and flaked oats for color and head retention.
Great video as usual, I liked that this was simple enough for beginners but also had tips and tricks for experienced brewers! You guys are doing it right!
Hey Kyle GREAT VIDEO! You make it look easy! But then again this is not your first rodeo! I drink a lot of beer, and this would be something I would love to learn! I guess when you have the right equipment it's not that difficult! You guys are awesome!!!
If you grind the grain less it will be naturally clearer.. in Japan, Saké is graded by how finely ground the rice is for instance. I never grind anything, cause the yeast can get the nutrients by soaking stuff in enzymes, IE through osmosis. Natural spring water is probably the best water to use, but distilled water will give it a clearer, more "bright" look. Any dissolved solids in the water the yeast can't process will stay dissolved and cause it to be more murky. Yeast is active in the refrigerator, just less so and it also behaves differently. Lager, for instance, is beer fermented at a cooler temperature, which leads to a less "fruity" taste.
Hahah, glad someone noticed that. We've been in the process of re-building our tap system forever so most of those taps aren't being used and haven't changed
so they do not seem to be to concerned with dripping the sanitizing liquid into the fermenter. So I can guess that , thats OK ? I see when they are pouring into the fermentor and adding the airlock that its dripping from there glove.
We have two. Frigidaire and NewAire. Only the frigidaire fits a carboy AND a keg. I took dimensions and a tape measure to home depot and picked the one that would work the best.
You need to have it tested so you know the mineral content of it. Or just don't bother with water chemistry. If the water tastes good it will probably make good beer. Alternatively, you could get a reverse osmosis system which removes all minerals from the water (some RO systems come with a module to re-mineralize the water, you don't want to use that bit). Then you have a blank slate to add minerals to.
@@joshuarimes9239 Distilled water is completely void of minerals so you should still add some to get a good balance. Pilsners and lagers in general are best with water low in minerals but there should still be some.
i remember a few times Racheal did come in to brew a beer like the lazy hazy summer session IPA. So why do you say this is her first time? Edit: oh this is a different Racheal!
Why use so much sanitizer solution? You can just prepare two liters of solution(even that's much), put everything you need to sanitize in the bucket, put the lid on and give it a good shake. Use less water and less StarSan
Why bother with pH when you can carry out an iodine test for starch? Drop a couple of drops of iodine into a spoonful of wort, if the solution does not turn blue, everything is fine.
Well you aren't going to get full conversion if the pH is wrong in the first place. The enzymes need a specific pH in order to convert the starches to sugars.
No, DO buy the $15 cheap pH meters. You can buy 20 of them for the same price as the big meter but they will do just fine for your needs and will last as long.
They are most certainly getting older than 500,000 people that got the 'rona and didn't recover. Mostly because it was allowed to spread that far - that's for sure.
Kyle has got to be the chillest dude ever to hang out with
Great introduction to the basics! A nice reminder we should all brew more SMaSH beers!
I've been making beer for years and this is an amazing video I will save and share with anyone curious about all grain brewing
You guys are freaking killing it. By far the best brewing channel out there! Keep up the good work.

Just finished to brew my first beer yesterday, why the algorithm didn't show me this earlier! 100% love it!
This was great. You should do this with more beginer brewers. Rachel 2.0 👍
This video shows the reality of many first-time brewers. Very cool!
This is filmed so professionally. Editing and stuff reminds me of an actual tv show.
I don't even care about brewing beer but you guys are hysterical. Shocked that you don't have more views!

Did my first all-grain brew yesterday and it felt so rewarding. Great video detailing the process!
The Emmet smash bit had me cracked up for a full 5 minutes, LOL

great starter video, welcome to brewing Rachel :)
Makes me wanna break out the buckets❤️ love y'all
I made a made a smash similar to this! I live in New Mexico and picked wild hops for the beer! Cheers!
Nice work! It's always fun seeing ya'll and what you're up to. Cheers!
I'm sure that with these guys help and their equipment I also would be able to brew amazing beer
Great video, Emmet’s cameo was the bomb
That was the first book I bought on homebrewing too. Also when I was in college. Ha!

Yes , another SMASH hit video. Cheers to Clawhammer Supply.
Nice Bridger Brewing sweatshirt! See you’ve been to Bozeman, MT
Very good video. I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.🍺
Man this was a great vid. Take someone who has never brewed and help them make a SMASH. A+
Water chemistry is not critical to make good beer. But highly suggested!!!!
They have the coolest temp control fridge. What fridge is that?
I would love to brew my first beer with Rachel!
You guys still have Uncle Nelson on the board, is that the same one or did you brew it again?
Hahah, glad someone noticed that. We've been in the process of re-building our tap system forever so most of those taps aren't being used and haven't changed
Was a great video, i wish i could afford some proper equipment to do this.
I love U Boys to death, U can't do no wrong, cheers for helping the industry
We want to know what the note says!
Excellent!
Very nice!
I actually couldn't watch this because kyle was like unmasked it totally freaked me out like i thought i was getting it from this video

Can you make a video with budget equipment please?
Love this!!
Ich liebe das!!
Well New Mexico was Mexico for a while, well it was originally part of New Spain (Virreinato de Nueva España), so Kyle wasn't like 100% wrong
What mini fridge are you using? I have been looking for one that fits a 5 gal carboy with airlock...thanks!

"wanna smash bro" ahahahah Id make a smash beer with Emmet
who wouldn't? You could probably bribe him with spaghetti.
If you’re using well water, how does that affect your water chemistry?

How did last month’s pressure lager turn out never saw the tasting
Aaaaaamazing. Best beer we've made in a minute. Video coming soon!
@@ClawhammerSupply glad to hear it was great 👍 that’ll be my next brew waiting for the tasting video thanks for the reply
I’ve got a Little crush on Rachel. 😂
"Her First Beer", *Kyle does everything*
Lol
Why am I getting Dennis from It’s Always Sunny vibes right now.
I still do not know what IPA is

This is a different Rachael!!! Should have mentioned this in the vid!

Don't forget your yeast nutrients.
Sorry, where is the ingredient list/recipe?

@2:00 "to brew beer you don't actually need any software, you can actually just find recipes on the internet." wait, the internet is software free???
Donot you need license to make beer at home ??
Nope
we need subs Spanish!!!

chlorine??? Holy crap you all got hard water? You run off of no river water or underground river? streams?
I would have watched, but then I saw you guys wearing those stupid masks, and I moved on.
god, do the masks ever look stupid now hey. I mean, a lot of us thought it looked stupid 3 years ago.. Even more idiotic now.
Its really fucking dificult the metric system of USA 😢
lol the masks
Lover y’all’s channel and going through older stuff I missed but had to click off due to the stupid masks.
