    Pro tip! If you’ll put a drag chain on the back axel, windows won’t have dust stick to them. Cotton dust is probably as bad as bean dust and that chain works. Static electricity, chain acts as a ground and eliminates it.

      But remember to pick it up when harvest is done because mice will climb up it in the off season.
      Fabric softener sheets will keep them away if you put them all over.

    • @billpotmesil
      @billpotmesil 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      HaydenonHarvest recently tried it and says it even helped the windows by reducing the static electricity and keeping the dust from klinging.

      Never worked for us with wheat. We always had a chain dragging but always had dust cling to the windows.

    Keeping machinery dust free also prevents cotton gin fires. We used to blow down all the equipment in the gin at least once per day. It is so easy to have a hot bearing set dust on fire, and dust is explosive. Good idea Brian. Blow em down daily.

    Trick i learnt last harvest for grain leaks is take the ends off a coke can (or similar), flatten it out over the hole and stick it up with silicone. It was in exactly the same spot as your hole on the Claas and struggled to find it when doing repairs after we finished as used black silicone over it

    Welded a patch on a customer’s Claas combine in the same exact spot two wheat harvests ago. It was sitting in the field on top of straw windrows and covered in chaff. I blew the machine off with my air compressor and about the time that I was ready to start welding, the customer says, “Well, looks like you got it from here. I’m going to take off”. Needless to say, I made him stick around to fire watch! Believe it or not, I never did set anything on fire.

    The old "o-ring" syndrome has been a curse, at least you're making good progress regardless. When combines get well-worn, having a roll of duct tape or similar repair wonders can plug worn spots and keep you going until more permanent repairs can be made...been there, done that. I've used sheet metal and circular clamps on a worn unloading auger tube. Not pretty, but it keeps you going in a pinch.

    Thanks for another great video Brian. It was interesting and enjoyable.
    Thanks for the drone footage. Always enjoy the drone footage for the perspective it gives you on the fields and where the combines are and what has been done already. The tracks show up great. Thanks.
    They oil ring on the Gleaner has been giving you fits. Runs so long and then have to change again. Hopefully the dealership will have the correct o ring soon.
    Interesting hearing the history of your place and the old logging operation. Find that interesting.
    Cleaning the windows and blowing off the combines is important in my mine. Cuts the chance of fire and you can see better for rocks and such.
