I've experienced this very thing. Had a very close friend just block me with no explanation. Later I texted her and she informed me that basically I was a bad person and then clearly blocked my number because she never responded after that. All during the election until now I have been forced to be silent with most my "friends" and business associates, and not be open publicly (silent majority anyone?), in fear of being blacklisted which would be bad for my business. It's fucked. I have lot's of "liberal" friends and I never held it against them because of their political beliefs. Even my wife, who voted for Obama in 2008 decided she was over Obama and voted for Romney in 2012, had to be silent and make believe she voted for Obama out of fear of alienating her "friends". We would like to be brave and be open but we are not insulated like Gavin and other conservative political pundits are; I work in the creative field where the left rules supreme so my livelihood is at stake. What Gavin says about people "privately" saying they agree with him is a total reality. People are afraid of the left for good reason. It's no surprise Trump's win was such a shocker to the left as they were totally in a bubble of their own making.
Truth is, the left are far more "fascist" than most any one on the right ironically. Which makes total sense since fascism and Nazism comes from left despite the spin they have tried to pull in the past half century.

We have some who lean right, but we feel as though we might get disowned by the ones who lean left if we ever said what we really believe. We actually consider ourselves Libertarians, but the conservative values we do hold are very sensitive subjects for our liberal family/friends. It sucks!! I feel as though the truth will eventually come out... just hope they're most understanding than I'm assuming!!

I have a friend who has been a producer in Hollywood and he has let people assume he is liberal FOR 40 YEARS so he could get work.
True friends would be understanding and would still respect your feelings despite a difference of opinion. You can still go out to a baseball game or to a wedding or to a barbecue together and then have fun with jokes and stories. Politics shouldn't make "friends" so angry that they blacklist you.

I want to be able to have an open dialogue so we can realistically look at the connections between the doctrine/stats and terrorism, discussing the problems within this ideology and prevent people from glancing over the real problem that advocates extremism. I said religion "pisses me off" in the context when it is misused to further promote violence, hatred and oppression, I never said I simply hated religion. So I'm using Islam to fuel my hatred against religion by showing facts and statistics revealing Islam's familiarity with hatred? "

This happened to me with one of my best friends. we were like really great friends for a lot of years went on vacations and did everything together and then he found out I like Trump.
