I heard this track live couple days ago. It feels very fresh and sounds in my opinion kind of optimistic. Very excited about this new direction they're taking!
@@WilburBullara Same! I was at this show live in NYC earlier this year, and it was incredible. Thanks so much for recording and uploading. I've listened to it countless times.
These 2 new songs are absolutely phenomenal, almost a return to Slow Riot or Lift Your Skinny Fists…. I saw them in Brooklyn 2 or 3 years ago, and it was the 20th anniversary of Slow Riot for Zero Kanada, and they played Moya and BBF3 for the last 35 min, the huge projectors whirring beautiful and disturbing images from around the world. It was like a religious experience. Effrim Mennuck is a genius. He sat the entire show…90 min, and they barely looked at each other for cues. Unreal band.
Oftentimes i find their live sets very comparable in performance quality to their studio stuff. There are even some really good live recordings that i prefer to the studio version
The new songs all sound huge again, larger than life. This band has been going at it for 30 years and just keeps getting better. What a time to be alive.
7:48 SOPHIE!! 😂. Met her working the merch table in Kingston Ontario running the line that only took cash. Then went in and played a 2 hr set, before the amps were done humming she was out running the table again talking to fans. Don’t miss a live show by these guys. They work their asses off and don’t gouge people for a ticket.
Saw this in Kingston on the 28th. Genuinely had to hold back tears during this track 3 times. I think it's their best song to date. Love from Ontario ❤️
They're just about the only group of musicians that does it for me now-a-days, so to have new music from them is such a gift, and this is sublime. Thanks.
The sound of the version you posted is incredibly good. Thanks ever so much!! Saw them in Paris last week in a breathtaking venue (Le Trianon) and they played this track. Unforgettable evening.
I just saw them last night in Budapest, Hungary with my girlfriend. This song brought me to tears when they played it live, it was just pure catharsis.
@@WilburBullara Yes, transcendental is a proper word to describe it. The whole show was like a process, had ups and downs, it's like you have to endure uncomfortable or strange soundscapes too in order to be ready for the climaxes. And those climaxes hit hard I can tell. And the musicians... Almost zero contact with the crowd, just a small waving at the end before leaving the stage. But that suits them: it's not about the musicians or being rockstars, it's about the music only. I remember when there was the first small break in the music after 20 minutes and there was a huge applause and cheering from the crowd (it was a sold out venue), Menuck just suddenly looking at the crowd with a face like "ah, so there are people there too, I haven't noticed them until now", and just quickly nodded his head in response, and that's it, that was his only reaction. Loved it. :)
I nearly lost it when they didn't stop at Moya and led into BBF3, I hadn't been so moved in ages. The fact that they never played it again for the rest of the tour makes it even more special. Overall the whole show was probably my greatest experience with music so far, but this piece, BBF3 and the outro really made me happy I made it long enough to catch them.
Saw them in Wilmington the other night, they played these songs there as well. They're great, some crazy moments with the string sections that I really liked. This was my first time seeing them, so for it to have been new music made it even more mesmerizing
Saw them in mexico, they playes this and one that people are calling "flames" botth were so great. Even better i got to hear the sad mafioso at the end and even got an autograph! Best day in my life
Heard it yesterday for the first time, live (and then I found this recording), tears pouring down my face - first time in 20+ years seeing music live when I had such a visceral reaction to a 'new' song. EDIT: and then 'Moya' for the encore
Son didn’t want to attend show alone so dragged his 60 year old dad to the gig and both went home amazed at how lucky we were to experience GY!BE in such a small venue. What a show for the Oshawa faithful. Sound team were spot on!
Am I alone in thinking that from 10 mins to the end of this new track is a re-arrangement of the minute of bliss in "iv. Attention / Mon Ami (5.5m to 6.5m)" from Antennas to Heaven on Skinny Fists? (th-cam.com/video/agN6AL2Y8h0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=aW1UsNHfUDtGTuYS&t=327) That snippet has always been one of my favorite parts of theirs, so when they were playing this new song live I was picking up that the chord progression is nearly the same. New tracks are some of their best ever IMO!
Beautiful. Probably now tied with Sleep as my favorite GY!BE song. Edit: I like the “working titles” way better than the official ones, however this new album is prob their best post-hiatus
I’m seeing them in November. I’ve never been this excited for basically anything. I’m really curious what their set list will be. I just want something off of f# or lift your skinny fists.
@@WilburBullara Now that I've heard them all many times, "Flowers" is the strongest to me. As a percussionist, the shuffle of the first half of it is amazing--the way I would have played the whole track, frankly. It adds so much more tension than "ensemble punches" and straight playing of the second half. I was a little surprised to hear the guys take a gutsy risk like this. They should take some more.
Today, these great ones been on Spotify. I have odd attachment with gsbe as we all and i though about what meant whole discography to me. I realise that i grown with these guys. I feel like i might be late to the party but this is pretty good. In my opinion it sounds kinda simple and not complex like some of their other songs, but even then this is still great. Oh and if anybody is reading this, have they only released just this song? Would love to see more of this new stuff.

They've been getting worse since 1997. They were amazing until 2003 and are still good, though.

It's always GY!BE to have the best pieces of music, I feel the cinematic vibe coming off of this already
I'm sure the intro sounds a lot like one of the pieces of the disintegration loops, it struck me immediately when I first listened to this song
It reminds me of if William Basinski had a more fleshed out sound instead of just messing with tapes
The catharsis and sense of anguish in the first 3/4 of the song is reminiscent of the Twin Peaks theme song
i 100% agree, and i can see the jazz influence a lot in the drums especially in this one
