    I think the wheel strap is good if you have a tire going down and you don’t know it and it goes to complete flat during the drive!😮

    When something like this is so heavy most people will leave it on the vehicle 🚗 for an extended period of time plastic part on the rack will deteriorate over time in the sun and rain and eventually break so that you know and understand plastic parts.

    You should have opened with the 60 lb limit. Unfortunately a lot of e-bikes are in the 70 lb and 80 lb category or beyond. Otherwise excellent information.

    Very interesting. The weight is crazy but it seems easy enough to remove each tray and the base. That might make it easier to install too. Not to mention store in a closet. Any arguments why removing the trays each time for storage might not be ideal?

    • @rezenclowd3
      @rezenclowd3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As it is really annoying as the tray needs to be down and use the security torx. With the 1Up and Quickr the tray can be up, and with the Quickr trays down but tool-less. Problem with this is the base is still there, the whole system is not shorter by removing a tray.

    Should I worry about theft of the modular components? If so would a lock deter most thieves. If not what is the resale value of these racks if one where to etch thier name or symbol on it?

    Great review ! I was dreaming about a Quickr but I needed a bike rack "right now" and found the Saris to almost check all the boxes when it's about what I want the most. I am really really happy about how convenient is the rack. One hand operartion isn't just a gimmick, it's actually what I am doing when handling my bike with one hand and then tilting the rack and opening the locks. Having the lock embedded in the rack is also really cool : I pass the cable through my flat pedals so no contact with carbon frame and it's enough to stop someone to quick steal the bike on a short stop.
    The only thing that still make me considering maybe some day the Quickr is the modularity. So Clint, what do you think ? Would you go for the Quickr or is it not worth it to pay a lot more (in Canada) for the Rolls of bike rack :) ?

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I would say that if you plan to leave the rack on the vehicle the Saris is a great option. You can still take a tray off if you want. It takes about a minute where is the QuickrStuff takes about 10 seconds. Personally, I remove the rack two or three times per week because I hook up a kayak trailer. And there are days I just don’t want a rack on the vehicle. For that, the QuickrStuff Is my rack of choice. The Saris would be my second choice of all the racks I’ve used.

      @@ClintGibbs I justloathe the weight and the fact the rack is always long. As the 1UP Heavy/Super Duty is still the lightest and most compact rack out there, I have the double+ 2 additions along with a Velocirax 6. Working on a torque at hitch spreadsheet to post on mtbr's forums right now for the major "good" racks. Quikr and this so far are the worst as a loaded system.

    great review! I'm looking for one of these to replace a rocky mount that has an arm that scratches my forks - quick question, can the handle (lowest point) be adjusted to it's closer to the arm. My car is very low and Im concerned that piece - albeit covered in plastic - will get destroyed on inclines.

    I need to carry 4 bikes, myself and my 3 teens. As a woman, the 1Up was very difficult for me to release to tilt. Other than that I really like it but it's such an issue for me it's almost unusable without someone with more strength. I was hoping the Quickr has improved this issue but the Quickr is even heavier so I'm that'd be an issue as far as lifting the bikes down and up, but I could have my kids hold either end, so I'm not worried about that part. however getting the handle extension to release the pressure to get the rack into a different position was so difficult I got my thumb stuck 4 times until someone was able to lift the handle to get my thumb out. Do you know if quickr for 4 bikes is difficult like the 1Up 4 bikes is to tilt? Or should go with this, a Kuat or a verticle rack that has a simple release with a spring and the push of a button with the foot? I'm not sure if this rack will even accommodate 4 bikes... thx!

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Quckrstuff Mach 2 is difficult to lift when set up in a 4-bike configuration. It’s OK with one or two bikes but beyond that it starts to get difficult.
      The easiest racks to raise up and down are Kuat.
      The Velocirax (th-cam.com/video/QtDxM90Cmvo/w-d-xo.html), although very unconventional looking, is very easy to raise up and down and easy to load bikes.

    Clint - absent of lugging 50 lb e bikes around, does it make sense to have a 100 lb carrier ? Is it good enough to justify the weight, if you’re only going to be carrying a single or possibly two mountain bikes ?
    Just wanted your thought on this.
    Thanks a lot.

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lately I’ve just been running it with one tray and it significantly reduces the weight. The modularity is a huge benefit. Honestly, if I didn’t have the QuickrStuff Mach2 this would be my primary rack

  • @gretchenlowery5114
    @gretchenlowery5114 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Clint thanks for the review! Do you like this one more than the Quikr Stuff rack? When you take the tray off is there a way to slide in the bar or are you left with the long bar sticking out (13 min mark or so). Thanks!

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once it’s on the vehicle it is easier to use than the QuickrStuff. However taking it on and off the vehicle it is not as easy because of the need to use a wrench and the weight. The base sticks out just as far even when you take a tray off so that is a drawback compared to the QuickrStuff.

      @@gretchenlowery5114 whoah, really? The Saris MHS? I haven’t had that happen with this rack at all. I find the latching mechanism to be very secure. I did have that happen to my Yakima Dr. Tray one time. Scared the poop out of me. Destroy the back of the rack but Yakima replaced it. A rack that doesn't have factory provisions to change the relative positions of bikes is not a multi-bike rack. "Just undo the setup on your bike for the trip if the bikes conflict" is NOT a solution.
