We put baking soda in a feeder in the shelter, free access, as a preventative. It has been super helpful in preventing bloat thus far. :)

Many many thanks. New homesteader here. Only had goats for a few months when introduction of "Tilly" caused "Sophie" to be greedy. Watching all your videos. Noticed it was bloat. You may have just saved my animal. Again, thank you.

We left free choice baking soda out and it worked. I've seen them going from looking like they could float in the air.. to being back normal again in short order. They love the baking soda.

We feed our goats baking soda daily as a preventative a little sprinkle over their food everyday or u can also just leave it in their mineral dishes and they will eat it when they need it :)

You’re so good with the animals! It’s a pleasure to watch. And, knowledge is power over situations that come up in life and homestead. So, I hope folks are taking notes on your tips! ❤️❤️❤️

Cool video. My uncle Don had a farm. He first had dairy cows and chickens and hogs. Next was beef cattle. Black Angus.

We used to use probiotics to get rid of scours and bloat. We left baking soda in little mineral feeders in our goat barn, our goats used to lick it up without help from us. Hopefully your little guy will get better soon.

That looked exhausting, but you do such a good job caring for your critters. I don’t have goats (yet) but I am tucking all of this knowledge away. Any updates on the rogue hen that had her babies 🐣 out in the bushes?

I know bloat is not funny b/c we have goats and have dealt with it. He looked like he was licking peanut butter off his lips. LOL. Cracked me up. Molasses and baking soda work great along with the oil.

I’m so glad ur not one of those ‘it has to be exactly this or that’. And I was laughing so hard when you were trying to give that goat the olive oil and then the baking soda laced molasses! That goat was smackin’ it’s lips and snorting like ‘what the heck is this?’ 😂 😆

I try to keep a some sodium bicarbonate in one of the mineral containers for my goats. They nibble on it every so often. For sure with bloat you need to be aggressive because they can die quickly from it. Not good. Thanks for sharing. Take care, see ya :)
