You guys raise the bar and i feel like shooting more and more..everytime i watch them. Thank You (both) !
3:11 While so many channels would talk about sharpness in camera comparisons and shootouts, Mattias merely cropped a photo all the way in and it may as well convince tons of people that the X100T is worth buying.
Great video. I agree, I bought the X70 as a second camera (A7RII main) and I'm really pleased with the results. As you say it's always with me which the X100 wouldn't be, and it has proper ergonomics and build quality unlike sony's pocket RX100. Although I miss image stabilisation, and I can tell which of the X70 or A7RII took a picture from the character of the colours, the image quality of the X70 is in no way a compromise. It's a proper camera in a pocket package. In fact I often carry both and shoot the X70 if there's no good reason to take the A7RII out of the bag.

Για σου Παύλο! Cheers from Brazil! I mainly shoot Fuji but have a Sony RX100III for pocketable camera, but am getting tired of it. Was considering buying an X100, but read your comment on the X70 and was wondering: Don’t you miss the zoom range of the Sony? Also, don’t you miss the EVF from Sony?
Comes down to preference I suppose but I much prefer the lens on the x100t: sharper lens, doesn't distort people so much so casual shots of friends and street subjects look better, more subject isolation, metal and not plasticy, optical viewfinder so no blackout at all, optional digital viewfinder. Never had an issue with the ergonomics on the X100T but my hands aren't long, a thumb grip seems like a good solution for those who have an issue with the ergonomics.
+Ryan Yeah its all subjective of course. But imo the 23mm distorts alot and definitely needs correcting in post, so thats the same on both. The 23mm is softer close up and wide open which is also a bit of a shame. Makes it a f2.8 for sharpness. Its interesting because now I know why Leica made their Q and X not able to shoot completely open in Macro. All great cameras though, hope you enjoy your x100. I know I would.
Thanks. Keep up the great videos. They are sooo much better than the ones with reviewers just sitting in front of the camera endlessly talking about the tech specs. I often wonder if any of them actually take any photos or just talk all day long. I recently sold all my Nikon and Sony stuff and bought Fuji cameras and lenses. It is so much more a satisfying experience actually having to think about what you are doing. I've had to learn how to photograph because I can't afford to pay any one for all the market material I need for our yoga center. I aligns perfect with the need to bring things into focus in a yoga practice. Happy New Year and thank you!
I bought the x70, at the beginning was really hard to get used to the wide angle, but now I'm loving it, you are right I can bring it along anywhere and the tilt screen works like magic for creative shooting, thank you for helping me decide
@ the X70 is just my favourite point and shoot camera, when your out with friends having a few drinks or just away for a few days when your after snaps to keep as memories I do love aEDD thought but it’s not missed on the X70
I like both a lot, but I have to agree with you -- the X70 is so nice and compact and takes great images. And the tilt screen really is a standout feature. Great video.
Nice video as always. I don't have any of these. I could never decide between all the models so I never purchased any :) Sometimes there's a certain value in simplicity and lack of so much variety of choice I think.
Hey, this video is really old, but thought I’d check it out today, in 2023. (Almost Time Travel ?!). I’m thinking of buying a compact Fuji and looking at both these cameras. Both of them, in your hands, produce beautiful images with glorious colours, but I like the x70 most; the smallest with the widest angle lens. Cool, thkz.
Thank you for taking the time to review these camera's! I do however think that your x100t shots are better when compared to your x70 shots. Not that they are bad, but the way they look I prefer your x100t shots.
Thanks, The biggest reason I like the x70 is because alot of the shots wouldn't have happened with the x100t. All the pictures you liked from the x100 could have been done with the x70, but not the other way around. So when choosing between tge two cameras its more important to focus on the buttons, ergonomics, size, etc. Because image quality is the same.
You'll have to pry my X100s from my cold dead hands, but I got the X70 for Christmas and in spite of all the things I don't like about it, it's starting to grow on me. No viewfinder, small, fiddly knobs, lens rings way too small, you have to check every time you touch something. No shutter release (I like a soft release button.) But, damn, I'm carrying it and i like it.
Great to hear. Personally I think the buttons on the x100t are way to fiddly an easy to accidentally press. On the x70 I never need to check :) Its like always, people are different and that's great. And luckily for you, you have best of both worlds. Im thinking of buying the original x100 and call it my teleconverter :)
Great photos! I would go with the x70 as well. I would choose a flip screen over an optical view finder...just use it too often, especially on animals and kids. The x70 is also so much tinier, a real pocket camera. Not sure however if it's worth to switch from my Samsung nx300 + 30mm/f2. It's still small (smaller than x100), AF is crazy fast and precise. Maybe when fuji upgrades the x70 with their 24mp sensor. Sometimes i need to crop a lot, it's good to have that kind of a resolution.
Thanks for making great videos. Your pictures are wonderful, you are a talented photographer. I just love your dog, so cute. I was thinking about the X70 because I am looking for a small camera with a good sized sensor for landscape shots. I ended up buying the X100T and so far, I'm loving it. It's so different from my spray and pray approach to bird photography. It's nice change of pace. I have a feeling that an X70 could wind up in my camera bag soon. It, too, sounds like a great camera.
It's funny you should post this now as I have been contemplating getting the X100T (or F) to go with my X70. Think I'll just stick with what I've got, for now.
I thought about an X70 but I need a viewfinder. Can’t get used of composing on a screen. I only use a screen to take photos on my phone. Ended up with an X100s. Love it.
This video was the final touch on my decision to buy the X70. Well, to start looking for it. Quite expensive on E-bay nowadays but I also live in Sweden and I found one being sold quite close to where I live, I'll set up the meeting as soon as possible. But hey, what's the app on you smartphone you were using at 03:53? Thanks for having this great channel! Love the dog as well!
Hi Matthias, following your review I actually bought the X70, took it on a holiday to Mauritius, took some great photos, some less great, and then returned it to the shop. But am starting to miss it, and thinking of buying it again, but also now interested in the x100 so I'd appreciate your advice to help me choose. What I liked about the X70 was its pocketable size, meaning its always with me, and also the flip screen with one-click focus and shoot is a pretty awesome way to take photos. But am wondering, would one not miss an optical view finder after a while, to really have that impression of "getting into the frame" when composing? How do you feel about that now? Also, the low light was so-so and am wondering if the x100 with its 2.0 lens will make a big difference? Is the x70 still the camera you always take around with you?
+Daniel D'Esposito The viewfinder on the x100 isnt that great imo. And you can always buy the ovf for the x70. Lowlight would be one stop better on the x100. For me it is as you say, the x70 will go with you every where. And that is what counts imo. Best is of course to have both.
Thanks Matthias, looks like the x70 is indeed the way to go! One more question if you don't mind: how do you compare the picture quality of the x70 with a one-inch camera like the RX100, which is also very portable? Some have said the RX100 is closer to the dslr than to the iphone, would you agree?
I like the rx100, it takes nice images and great video. But it is sluggish to opperate and it can't beat an x70 or Ricoh. They are better than a smartphone sure, but so is a tomato :)
Thanks Matthias, am happy you're saying that because I don't really like the rx line, so I can safely eliminate them. I'll buy a second hand x70, there is one for a good price where I live in Geneva. Somehow there is something about that camera that makes me just love to hold it, and I've realised its a deliberate part of Fuji's approach to industrial design... both the way it looks and works are designed to make you addicted emotionally :-)
I love the Ricoh GR. It's my favorite compact. Love the colors, B&W and sharp lens. Love the 28mm focal length better as well. I have the Sony RX100 V. I like the zoom, the capability of 4K video, V-Logging, and it does many things well enough. I don't find it sluggish. I also have a Fuji X-T10. Love that as well. I want to try the Fuji X70 because I want that, leaf shutter and touch & articulating screen. Sad it doesn't have an EVF though. The Sony has a pretty good EVF, and it does come in handy. I was going to jump on board the X100F for the 24mp, and Acros filter, and 23mm lens, but I opted for the 23mm F/2 WR Lens for my X-T10 instead, , which is sharper. I can do without the extra megapixels, and Acros. I shoot RAW and actually do better B&W than Acros can give me. I understand the attraction to the JPEGS though. It's just that I hate losing all that extra file info.
@Mattias Burling - Thank you, Sir! Would you recommend 'X70' or 'Ricoh GR ii' (BOTH USED) considering Camera ergonomics? And color science? Fuji RAW or DNG RAW? :) Please share your choice.. & for what?
Nice vid, and great photo's! I own an X70 and an X100F. To me, the ergonomics of both are excellent, except for the placement of the Q button on the 100F. The vignetting on the X70 drives me nuts, though - although you obviously corrected this in post.
Mercy Osorio Well, I like 'm both. The X70 has a flip screen and offers a wider view which I like for street photography. Also it's very pocketable and unobtrusive. The X100 on the other hand does not distort and is much better for portraits. Also the OVF is great.
Not really, test all the critical functions. Make sure the glass is scratch free. But most of all, look at the seller. If its a trustworthy fellow you don't need to test it as much :)
Great Video - I agree with most (all) of your conclusions. I had an X100S but since I got the X70 I have never used it - primary reason - size - as you say it fits in your pocket. I thought I would miss the VF - but I haven't - not once.
great video, really enjoy seeing the nuanced differences between images you pull out of various cameras. Would love to see a video on your editing/colorgrading process!
Just as i was sure that i want to buy XT10 i watched Your video and now im hesitant again... Maybe i should buy X70. Just as You said X70 seems so compact and perfect for street shooting when You dont want to be so obvious about taking pictures. Im going to the camera store tomorrow. Wish me luck with making smart decision :D!
Hi Daniel! I bought XT10 and i think it was a good choice. Maybe its not as compact as X70 but it still fits perfectly in my hand. Great plus is of course that i can switch lenses. I actually ordered very cheap lens - meike 35 mm and works amazing! I easily get overwhelmed about amount of options when it comes to using tech gear so Im glad that menu is very intuitive. Thanks for asking! Have a great day!
Wow thats an adventurous choice! Did not know about Meike lenses, really fast lens for a low price, thanks for sharing. Let me know if you have any Meike photos to show on instagram.
Appreciate your review, especially of the X 70 as I've been considering this for months. Between this and the X E4 are they similar in body size? Thanks for all your reviews.
@@gearreallydoesntmatter thanks, also I've nearly binged your whole channel during my Highschool years, your voice is captivating it competes with the lofi studying stream
Riktigt grymt as always Mattias!
+DarkRami Same price new and only marginally cheaper used. No camera is "better", it depends on the user. For me the fixed lens, external controls and tilt screen makes the GR not so interesting. But if I saw a cheap one used I would probably jump on it just to try it for a while. Its a great camera as well.

Mattias Burling Thanks for your input. When I said better I meant image quality wise. I've watched plenty of comparisons and most agree that the lens in the GR produce better, sharper images overall.
Seeing as you used both of them (in different videos) which coating do you think is better for the X70 in terms of wear and attracting unwanted attention? Silver or Black? Any comments? :)
great video, thanks for all the recommendations. Were those JPEG or RAW pictures? What were you favorite settings or presets on your cameras? How much post processing did you apply to them? They looked very good and almost had a 3D effect on them!
I'm sure it will be awesome, but for the price I can get so much cool stuff if I buy used. But later on when it can be found second hand..At least this is what I'm telling myself to stop me from buying it. I hope I can make is :)
Hello Mattias and happy new year in advance! Your videos have been so helpful in my decision whether to get an X100T or an x70 and I've finally caved and bought my x70 a week ago. I've been enjoying its use so far - I'm a beginner and it's just made photography so fun thus far. Do you perhaps have any tips or advice for newbies like me using the x70?
Just play with it until you figure out how you want it set up. My standard settings for general street shooting iso auto 3, shutter speed 500, and manually set the focus at 3m. At aperture f8 pretty much the whole world is in focus. Now you can just point and shoot. If it gets darker I just flip to f5.6 or shutter 250. I also turn of the shutter sound. Good luck!
+Mattias Burling Thank you! I'll continue to play around with it and the settings you've suggested! And I forgot to mention in my comment above, but you take such gorgeous photos! (:
I have the X70 and it goes in my briefcase. But really, I'm waiting for the F because while the X70 was an experiment with 28mm equiv, I feel much more comfortable with 35mm equiv. the first thing I did when picking up the X70 is lift it to my face before remembering that it has no viewfinder. I also want Acros so the F will be a better fit for me.
Thanks for good advice; years later, it still makes good sense and I am about to act on it! One question: what was the app shown on your phone? Looks useful.
I have the X-Pro 2, an upgrade from the X-Pro 1. The hit rate is much higher with the new camera for moving or isolated subjects, I believe the autofocus is more reliable. I also find myself turning to the RAW files (on card 1) less and less, the JPEGS are often good enough with a little lightroom tweak. I have the X100T and the original X100, I simply cant sell it even though it hardly sees the light of day. The X70 looks great but I'm struggling to justify the cost when I have the X100 and the wide adapter. Even though it is a bit bigger I still find it extremely portable. Enjoy whatever, I do...
Love your videos and the comparizons you put out are so awesomely confusing, challenging and mixed with fantastic images you take. WHen you say you buy used, is it out of E-bay? Each time I wanted to check for the prices of some Fujis, Leicas ... they're way higher than what you sometimes state. I will try to be more patient of course but it seems you're quite lucky at that kind of shopping (har tur på ren svenska :-) ). Thanks!
Great Video!! Between I am confused. I already have Xt10 enjoying it and now I have a chance to buy X70. The sensor is same, Size of both the camera is similar. But I never used X70 so can’t comment much on it. Feel free to advise Looking forward for next video May be on Xt10 😊
First of all, I absolutely love your photo's. Inspiring stuff indeed! One question: I have an X-70, which I love and carry with me almost always, but there is a lot of cushion distortion in my pictures. Of course, you can (and I do) correct this in Photoshop, but I wonder if this is your experience as well? Your pictures look "straight" but maybe you go through the same motions as I do.....

& for what?
I have a video about that, th-cam.com/video/sBWmYd2rUeA/w-d-xo.html
@@gearreallydoesntmatter thank you, Mattias. Just saw it, with a smile. However happy to see you respond immediately! Thank you 😊
amazing shots on both camera
Nice vid, and great photo's! I own an X70 and an X100F. To me, the ergonomics of both are excellent, except for the placement of the Q button on the 100F. The vignetting on the X70 drives me nuts, though - although you obviously corrected this in post.
so which would you prefer the x70 or x100f?
Mercy Osorio Well, I like 'm both. The X70 has a flip screen and offers a wider view which I like for street photography. Also it's very pocketable and unobtrusive. The X100 on the other hand does not distort and is much better for portraits. Also the OVF is great.
How did you edit your photos? 😍
What app are you using on the smartphone? great vid and as an Amsterdam local, I really like the shots.
Hi. I really enjoy your videos. I have a question. What app is that, that you are using on your phone? Thanx.
What is that app you are using ?
hyperfocal pro
Thank you.
Do you have a guide on what to look at when buying a used camera?
Not really, test all the critical functions. Make sure the glass is scratch free. But most of all, look at the seller. If its a trustworthy fellow you don't need to test it as much :)
Thanks, Mattias. I was looking to buy a used x70. Its cheap but lacking the on camera flash. So I'm having second thoughts.
On camera flash? didn't even know there was one.
I'm not sure what it's called. The flash that's built-in with the camera. Hehe
Great Video - I agree with most (all) of your conclusions. I had an X100S but since I got the X70 I have never used it - primary reason - size - as you say it fits in your pocket.
I thought I would miss the VF - but I haven't - not once.
Your opening BGM reminds me of broke back mountain. 👍👍👍
What is the naming reason behind Fuji camera line: x100, x100S, x100T, x100F? Why s,t, f instead of mark 1,2,3 or a,b, c
It is, Second, Third, Fourth :)
omg, i just got it !
Hello Mattias, would you be kind to share what the phone app is called your using at 3:54mins. Thank you for the great video.
Hyper focal pro.
Thank you.
Just saw this great video. I just bought x100f. I was wondering what was the app that you are using about the focusing distance. Thanks
great video, really enjoy seeing the nuanced differences between images you pull out of various cameras. Would love to see a video on your editing/colorgrading process!
Very nice video and comparison. I was wondering which app did you use in 3:55?
It's hyperfocal pro. Great little app!
Are these photos treated in post? Or in camera? Beautiful.
Is it possible that post a video about how to process the photos, love the photos!!!
can someone please let me know the app used for the depth of field...would be great to use.. Thank you
What is the app that you are using for the focus distance?
Just as i was sure that i want to buy XT10 i watched Your video and now im hesitant again... Maybe i should buy X70. Just as You said X70 seems so compact and perfect for street shooting when You dont want to be so obvious about taking pictures. Im going to the camera store tomorrow. Wish me luck with making smart decision :D!
Both are great cameras so you cant really go wrong :)
What camera did you finally buy, +Lila?
You can give me Your email address and I will send You some unedited pictures straight from the camera with meike lens :).
Appreciate your review, especially of the X 70 as I've been considering this for months. Between this and the X E4 are they similar in body size? Thanks for all your reviews.
Inner Light is my favorite music you use
Beautiful photos!
Is iso a external wheel too? Im not familiar with these cameras and the numbers
Not on these models. X100f and x100v has it.
@@gearreallydoesntmatter thanks, also I've nearly binged your whole channel during my Highschool years, your voice is captivating it competes with the lofi studying stream
Riktigt grymt as always Mattias!

Hey mattias, would you ever consider using the canon g5x
Isn't the Ricoh GR II cheaper and better?
+DarkRami Same price new and only marginally cheaper used.
No camera is "better", it depends on the user.
For me the fixed lens, external controls and tilt screen makes the GR not so interesting.
But if I saw a cheap one used I would probably jump on it just to try it for a while. Its a great camera as well.

Mattias Burling Thanks for your input. When I said better I meant image quality wise. I've watched plenty of comparisons and most agree that the lens in the GR produce better, sharper images overall.
I guess if sharpness is your priority its a better choice. Not for me though.
But again, if I see a really cheap GR I will try it.
GR's autofocus will be turtle slow in comparison.
Seeing as you used both of them (in different videos) which coating do you think is better for the X70 in terms of wear and attracting unwanted attention? Silver or Black? Any comments? :)
I think people will notice them equally, go with the one you think looks the best.
hi! i am about to buy my first camera this weekend and in need of opinion about which camera should i buy: xa3 or x70?
Mathias, can you export video via wifi from the x70 to an iPhone? On the x100t I can export photos via wifi, but the video files will not transmit.
dont think so. havent tried though.
Grymt! Hur tycker du att Fuji xt1 är i jämförelse med xt2an?
Har aldrig provat xt1.
wow! does anybody knows where that Black and white tunnel is? 1:02
Amsterdam, next to the train station.
Thank you @@gearreallydoesntmatter , Beautiful photo, nice work. Always appreciate your videos.
your photos look great. Wondering if those are out of camera or post?
Most if not all are adjusted in Lightroom.
great video, thanks for all the recommendations. Were those JPEG or RAW pictures? What were you favorite settings or presets on your cameras? How much post processing did you apply to them? They looked very good and almost had a 3D effect on them!
Hey, Thanks!
All Raw, different amount of post work. My favorite preset is probably no preset, just working the contrast in Adobe Standard.
Hi Mattias
Great reviews on both the x70 and x100t
What app are you using on you're phone for the DOF?
Thankyou
Manny
what was that app you were using? great video btw!
Thanks, it was HyperFocal Pro. Great app but I bet there are others that might be just as good or better.
Beautiful photos!!! Subbed!!!
Any recommended custom settings for the x70?
Great comparison - I personally can't wait to see how the X100F stacks up... hmm!
I'm sure it will be awesome, but for the price I can get so much cool stuff if I buy used. But later on when it can be found second hand..At least this is what I'm telling myself to stop me from buying it. I hope I can make is :)
i like both of them
You have a great job
what was that app that you used for the dof calculation?
hyperfocal pro.
Thanks A LOT!loved you video
I appreciate it :)
Whats the name of that hyperfocal app?
HyperFocal Pro, but there are plenty of different once.
Mattias Burling hyperfocal pro doesn't have the x70 listed as an option???
Use the x100, same sensor and just change the focal length to 17mm. Or put in a custom sensor.
Fuji x100sl
I have the X70 and it goes in my briefcase. But really, I'm waiting for the F because while the X70 was an experiment with 28mm equiv, I feel much more comfortable with 35mm equiv. the first thing I did when picking up the X70 is lift it to my face before remembering that it has no viewfinder. I also want Acros so the F will be a better fit for me.
Im sure it will :)
Sorry if you’ve already answered this question, but are you shooting raw, or JPEG? Thanks in advance, and love your videos!
Raw.
Thanks for good advice; years later, it still makes good sense and I am about to act on it!
One question: what was the app shown on your phone? Looks useful.
Hyper focal pro.
@@gearreallydoesntmatter Thanks so much and keep the reviews coming!
great review, were you shooting most of the shots raw or JPEG?
Raw only.
Fuji added the tilty screen to the x100v just for the short legged doggo.
funny story, i have both, i like the x70 better, but my fav street photography rig is a nikon d4s with a 70-200 f2.8 :))
At 4:00 is that an app?
Love your videos.
What are your thoughts on the xPro 2?
Seems great, but a used xt1 or xpro1 is like 15% of the cost.
All sample image shown in this video are messed up.
good to know.
Thanks!
have u try canon g7x mark II? i hope make video review
cloud 9 its a cool camera. But I wont review it, sorry.
Mattias Burling why not? I just bought them but i dont know how to use it
Mattias Burling so im planning to switch it to fujifilm XA3
cloud 9 all cameras work the same. Just practice :)
whats the app at 4.05 ?
Hi Dude. I just admire your videos and your dog. I saw you using some mobile application in this video, May I ask what mobile app did you just use?
Ian Bruce Azarraga Hyper Focal Pro :)
What app were you using to calculate focus? :)
Hyper focal pro.
Great Video!! Between I am confused. I already have Xt10 enjoying it and now I have a chance to buy X70. The sensor is same, Size of both the camera is similar. But I never used X70 so can’t comment much on it. Feel free to advise
Looking forward for next video May be on Xt10 😊
If you can afford it go for the x70. It’s a much faster camera
Thanks!
Yes I also get distortion, but I mostly just try to live with it :)
R these pics processed or direct from camera ?
Processed.
Does the 100 have dng files?
Paul Michael James No Fuji has DNGs. They use Fujis own raw files.
What app is that DOF calculator
+Bob Hanuman Hyper Focal Pro.
Fantastic photos.I would like to have a Fuji, so maybe the X70 is enough
+Pedro Eduardo Braz The x70 is alot of camera. I love it.
Looks like x70 now costs the same as x100t. Had a chance to get x70 for 200€ but I was unlucky and some guy took it first.
What app was that?
Hyper focal pro.
How about the optics, is one sharper than the other? any thoughts?
Nice video. Cute dog!
The X70 looks grainier that the X100T. The "F" should be better still. Just my thoughts.
It isnt, just my editing. I add grain in post.
Ok. Then they are level pegging. Thanks for the info.
