    Snappy when you font have 45 pounds of torque converter or clutch hanging on there.👍

    Had one of those dropped in a late 70's Chev half ton that had originally the diesel 350(same housing bolt pattern) that were known to fail. What an improvement after installing the Buick engine! My 455 was out of a 68 Riviera and was all stock with 12:1 factory compression, cast manifolds and breaker points ignition. I wish I had installed a high rise intake on that one! The vehicle, none the less, was a ton of fun and scary fast.

      Great story! I have given serious thought to do the same thing!

      A '68 Riviera would of had a 430, the 455 didn't debut until 1970. Still a great engine built in the same platform, only difference that made it a 430 was the bore size was a bit smaller.
      The 430 did get the "big port" heads that supposedly flowed better than the later 455 heads. The big port 430 heads are very highly sought after in the Buick community. The weakness of them though is they are prone to cracking underneath the valve springs so you really don't want to run much more than factory spring pressures with them.😎👍

      @@itseithergonnaworkoritaint7852 You certainly could be right! This was many years ago and perhaps I quoted the wrong vehicle model of origin. I did have a horny 455, I'm sure. Only issue was it did not have the hardened valve seats.

    Spray of gas at the fuel pump?
    Sounds just like the 462 I built from a '74 Buick 455 block. Fantastic street engine. TA is the place to go. You don;t think it will need more carb?

    • @probuick3317
      @probuick3317  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      No gas spray at the fuel pump. I check all that closely when I'm running the engine. I think you're seeing a light change from the cooling fan. That carb. is my run stand carb., it's a Demon 750. Works great. TA is absolutely the place to go!
