The stabilizer is for when the arrow has been drawn all the way back, and makes the weight forward/backward neutral for the bow hand

Alex is right, muscle memory is a major part of form. I shoot bare bow and had great difficulty in the beginning until my brain aligned with the muscle requirement for each part of this discipline. Now all I have to do is aim.

Balance's the weight and when you let go of the string the bow doesn't drop.

you need the stabilizer to hold the bow on the center by aiming. By releasing the string you got which goes over the limbs, through the riser. The stabilizer neutralize the shock. Resolut: You got a better feeling.

It's called a 'center stabalizer'. It's used to make sure the bow has zero torque when held by the handle. makes it easier to aim because they don't have to stop the bow from pulling up or down.

It's to prevent vibrations, and also it helps the bow "swing" after the shot has been fired.

You're right: if you hit the 10 every time then you are reaching your goal. But I surely would not show him to someone who wants to learn correct shooting form... well, I would not show him to anybody.

Hes a great marksman so it really doesnt matter does it? I shoot recurve instinctive and dont even look at my bow, all muscle memory, Some would say thats ridiculous becasue there are much more reliable ways to shoot, but If I can hit the target every shot, it doesnt matter how I shoot
