Hell, isn't Pete Sandoval in his 60s or so. He doesn't play as fast as George, but it's extreme drumming. I could only imagine what his body is dealing with.

He revealed in an Instagram comment section that pretty much the reason why the Opening Of the Gates chorus has sped up kicks (280BPM) is because he tried to play it at 240BPM first, but Trey wanted it to be faster, however when he played it at 270BPM I presume what happened is that his back was being too strained from that speed and therefore he was told he has to slow down with that stuff (no pun intended) I guess what it comes down to is the more you keep pushing yourself hard, the more you're gonna feel it in your body as you get older. We are still human, not robots. Any level of technique won't matter when it comes to getting old. So yeah, I commend him for holding back when he needed it, because the drumming on the other songs were still great and on Heretic he had really fast drumming too.

But the multiple styles Dallas has, accents and the way his pronunciation and tone were really made Nile stand out. That's one of the reasons I truly fell in love with this band. Those whom the gods detest is my first album. Man.... I've never had metal on that caliber before... No one sounded like that, especially in my music collection. Lol but I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of this album. But I think I'm going to take a look into their older stuff big time. It kinda reminds me of what happened with Skeletonwitch.

Karl Sanders is a few months older than James Hetfield. Just shows you the excesses of these huge bands take a toll on the body and mind. George Kollias is not far off 50 either and he's the top death metal drummer for many a year. These guys are paving the way for extreme music to be played far beyond youth.

Nile...favorite DM band of all time. But wtf is up with the MIX? The drums and vocals overpower the guitars 50% of the time. Hard to swallow this is the same team that gave us the clarity on Vile Nilotic Rites. Still pre-ordered....just not remotely blown away yet.

If you change Gallagher's brutal growl, the band loses half of the power it has. Same applies here. Since 4 albums now.
Yep, I completely agree with you. The accent of the vocals now lay on the high screams instead of the low growls. I can't seem to get into any album later than Gods Detest. I have tried many times, and will try many more times but disappointment hits every time. However, Nile is and will still be my favourite band ever.
Wasn't it Karl who always did those? Being able to do vocals of that style takes a pretty significant amount of core strength and endurance. He is getting a bit older, he might not be able to do them as consistently live so they aren't utilizing them in the studio as often either.
The fact that George has been able to play at this level for so long (while even pushing the boundaries in some instances) is genuinely impressive.
