Battlerage does not include enemy heroes anymore, it was nerfed, only includes friendly characters which is your hero and your minions. No point playing Battle Rage if you're only going to get one card from it, unless you are absolutely desperate.
00:49 "if you (we) try sometime, you'll might just find, you (we) get what you need". Very subtle, yet amazing reference to a Rolling Stones song. Kudos!
Got a beta invite last week. Used my starter gold to buy an arena run and went 9-2 on a druid deck.. Thanks for this series, watching it really does teach you how to play decently well and its very entertaining.
that were some really good matches, the last one i think was super good mostly because of how close it was. Really enjoy this series cause it actually makes you a better player because you actually explain what your doing and why.
It's one of the reasons I mostly stopped reading the comments for this video, it's just a bunch of backseat gamers with the benefit of hindsight and not actually having to play.
13:10 - TB, why would you trade a 3/2 for a 3/3 instead of using the 3/1 charge for it? That made no sense except if you intend to somehow re-use the charge effect.
Thanks TB for all these Hearthstone videos, I got into the beta last week and thanks to all the time i spent watching your vids. I was able to trade random flailing about, for flailing about with a purpose. Heres hoping I see you in the arena sometime.
The trade at 23:50 a possible play would have been the Kor'kron and whirlwind, it would still be a two card trade for 1(which isn't ideal) but you would be left with two creatures to beat him down and then trade once he summons something.
At around 26 mimutes in, you made a bad play. If you hit the guardian with your sunwalker and whirlwinded, the guardian would die, and your sunwalker wouldnt
Little tip: Attack, THEN apply armor. Armor and health are interchangeable, but there are abilities which activate on low health. Might as well get those abilities with the same health.
After the patch, the Frostwolf Warlord's effect is a Battlecry Effect, so it won't lose/gain attack/health, it'll just come into the battlefield with the right amount of stats.
yes he does have a 100% ratio, 1 win out of 1 possible is 100%, he doesn't have 500% win ratio now for example (acording to your comment, you divide victories by number of losses, which means it would be 5 divided by 1 which equates to 5 or 500%) so yes, the ratio was 100% up until that last match
I love watching this :D But I'm trying to understand; in that last match, why didn't you play the Frostwolf ? Would it have 'summoning sickness' for want of a better term ?
Even though I'm only gold medal 1 star in constructed and I don't have much experience, I have to agree that mage's comeback potential seems STUPIDLY good. I've played mage in 90%+ of my games and i've come back from 5hp to 30hp multiple times.
He has previously said that he gets it because he knows how much we, as viewers, enjoy watching it. Particularly so when it backfires and he rages about it.
Correct me if I'm wrong (I've not played this myself), but at 23:27 couldn't you have played whirlwind, then korkron elite to take out the shieldmaster? Then you'd have had a better creature advantage and a slightly higher damage output on the field. As I say, I've never played this and I could be very wrong, but it seemed a better play to me.
Small note i noticed; at 26:00 with the whirlwind, you could've attacked with yourshielded unit, -then- pop whirlwind. Would've cleared his board and kept a 4-3 taunt still without trade.
TB, when you were fighting the pally, you had a Swamp Ooze, a Mad Bomber, and your charge creature to attack with. You decided to attack with the Mad Bomber, which was a two drop, to kill a three drop, but it was a 3/2creature, as opposed to the 3/1 charge you summoned for three mana. Even though it would've technically been a "better trade," you would've ended up with a better board.
@26:11 TB actually could've attacked the angel card here with the taunt creature, attacked the Spellbreaker with the charger, the hero with his worgen, and then done the whirlwind, and would've kept the sunwalker for his troubles while wiping out all of the enemy cards.
I had a 9 and 1 run with a priest deck earlier this week. It had a bunch of buff cards and a bunch of "kill creature with with attack 5 or higher" cards.
It's not hindsight in the case of the 3/2 and 3/1. I think your thought process at the time was "mad bomber is a 2 mana creature and wolf rider is a 3 mana creature" so you traded the lower mana one out. It's a very tiny mistake, but considering the imp master that extra 1 HP could've been a bit useful.
Only because I'm putting it in the comments after the fact. It's what I thought during the video though, so it wasn't in hindsight at the time. I think TB is under the impression we go through his matches trying to catch his mistakes; however, it's just something I noticed when he was discussing trading out the Mad Bomber. It's not a matter of hindsight 20/20 because it was simply a better move in every scenario.
13: 20 you should have traded with the charger. The Mad bomber is still a 3/2 who can attack instead of a 3/1 who can attack. It could have eaten an imp for free for example.
13:20 Why would you not trade using the charge creature rather than the bomber or ooze? They all have 3 attack and whoever attacks the minion will die. The charge creature had 1 health, the rest had more than that, so attacking with the charge creature leaves you with a better board.
You know TB, if you like this so much for it's hero mechanics and all that you should try Duel of Champions. Just started playing the other day and it is a very strong concept, plenty of strategy which I know you love. Plus no real 'top decking' instances since you can usually get at least 2 cards in your hand a turn if you need to.
i 100% agree. also, that damage can be ridiculous with good draw: pyro blast x2 + 2 fire balls = 32 damage, which can take 2 turns of just using these (i think?) not to mention that if your at the point you can use 2 pyroblasts in one turn, they are probably lower than 30...
Actually, Nat Pagle is bugged at the moment (I saw a blue post on that somewhere), and he draws cards with only 25% chance (from ~21:00), half at which he should.
26:14 Alternative play would have been run the Sunwalker into the Guardian letting the divine shield absorb the 5 dmg hit leaving the Guardian at 2 life to die via whirlwind. Net gain would have been a 4/3 Sunwalker, but a clear enemy board.
It was because it was only 240p if I understand correctly , when I watched it , only had a 240p option to it , I assume he is waiting for it to load more of the quality options.
@38:03 wouldn't a good play would be amani+slam the amani? it would give him the card and force the opposing warrior to trade, take hits or whirlwind(which he didn't appear to have)
He only had one minion on the field which he played just before the battle rage, the only friendly character that was damaged was himself, giving him a single card. It used to give a card for every damaged character which includes the opposition, but they nerfed it to friendly only.
Some constructive criticism for the future: Mind the order in which you do things. @26:30 or so you could have kept your sun walker by first using it to do 4 damage to whats his face popping your shield but keeping him alive, then the buffed whirlwind kills both enemy creatures and still leaves you with a 4-3 taunt.
Hey TB, doubt that you will see this but i wanted to ask why you traded your 3/2 creature that you had out against a minion with 3 health when you could have used the charge creature you brought out which was a 3/1. It's really minor but it seems that every point of health can count (like with a mad bomber or a mage's hero power) again, not really important and kind of picky but i was just curious.
TB, great plays so far with this deck! I think it's sad you're commentating the blizzcon hearthstone tournament instead of playing in it, I'd love to see you mop up in it! Keep up the great content!
TB, make sure you attack with your cards before using the mad bomber if they have 3 health or less. You got really lucky that it didnt just snipe your Ooze causing you to miss out on the 3 damage also.
It´s funny. Sometimes i catch myself to click the interactive objects, like the griffon, in Hearthstone videos. I´m so used to do that while waiting for the enemy to end his turn ^^
at 26:44 wouldnt it have been a better play to pop off his divine shield by hitting his 5-6 and the whirlwinding? let me know if im right or wrong please :)
Quite the fine deck you have TB, very early aggression but not many big creatures but you are good in other areas so that is all well. Nice video im eager to see more videos in the future
On your arena match agains the paladin Dionysus, you could have attacked his Guardian of Kings with your Sunwalker (and get him to 2 health), taking your shield off and then have used the Whirlwind, which would have dealt 2 damage to your Sunwalker but wiped his board entirely. Still, awesome video TB, cheers.
Exactly what I was thinking. Not a huge misplay, but attacking first would have been better. Keep up the good work TB. Maybe I'll see you in the Arena soon.
13:11 I don't understand TB's explanation for attacking with the Mad Bomber. If he had used the charge then he would have a 3/2 insteand of a 3/1 on the field, am I missing something?
The point is, you can actually trade with your weapons, get low on health, THEN armor up! This way you are low on health and safe at the same time. Also you can go beyond 30 hp thanks to that ability, too...
I think during that mirror matchup TB did as well as he could. He played right, in that he had board control and the advantage. The other Warrior simply drew all the right cards once TB had used his. If TB hadn't used his cards, then he would've lost the momentum and advantage. I enjoy this game, at least watching it, but I have to say that I don't see what the disadvantage is of going second. You have card advantage, the coin nullifies your mana disadvantage, and you can react to enemy's play.
The moment TB decided to rush his opponent down in the last one, I was certain he would lose. Don't rush down when your opponent still has more than 10 health seems to be a good rule of thumb.
hello TotalBiscuit, in game 2: you dont kill that colt master with the young pristes because the pristes can do more for you line up if its stays alive longer you should have used the devine shield guy that had 2 health
Battlerage does not include enemy heroes anymore, it was nerfed, only includes friendly characters which is your hero and your minions. No point playing Battle Rage if you're only going to get one card from it, unless you are absolutely desperate.

Always happy to see these pop up in my news feed during slow work days :)
TB, I enjoy these videos and I appreciate you continuing to make them. That's it. No backseat gaming, just appreciation for this series. Thanks again.
Got a beta invite last week. Used my starter gold to buy an arena run and went 9-2 on a druid deck.. Thanks for this series, watching it really does teach you how to play decently well and its very entertaining.
Signed-up for Beta more than a year ago. STILL NO BETA KEY!!!
Perfect timing Mr Biscuit: your plays make for fantastic post-work viewing!
that were some really good matches, the last one i think was super good mostly because of how close it was. Really enjoy this series cause it actually makes you a better player because you actually explain what your doing and why.
You pointing out his thought process and being able to analyze it is literally a definition of hindsight.
Always such a treat to watch these Hearthstone videos, the bloody game is just as addicting to look at as to play I guess : )
Why sacifice the 3/2 and not the 3/1?
I really do enjoy watching these, thank you kind sir!
i liked the song reference - "You can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes you might find you get what you need"
He had some great mad bomber plays. As long as you only play it when it is statistically likely to help you it will be more help than hindrance.
Thanks TB for all these Hearthstone videos, I got into the beta last week and thanks to all the time i spent watching your vids. I was able to trade random flailing about, for flailing about with a purpose. Heres hoping I see you in the arena sometime.
26:15 - TB, why not attack with the Sunwalker into his 5/6 BEFORE Whirlwind, thus killing it off and leaving your Sunwalker with 3 HP.

At around 26 mimutes in, you made a bad play.
If you hit the guardian with your sunwalker and whirlwinded, the guardian would die, and your sunwalker wouldnt
that double Taskmaster play was really nice. Wouldn't have thought of pinging the shield from the crusader.

26:38 the correct play was attack spellbreaker with korkron>attack guardian of kings with silvermoon> attack him with worgen> whirlwind
"I don't like sitting on acidic swamp ooze" I don't think any of us do, TB.
"I was hoping for either enrage or a dead panda. Instead we got an enraged panda."
yes he does have a 100% ratio, 1 win out of 1 possible is 100%, he doesn't have 500% win ratio now for example (acording to your comment, you divide victories by number of losses, which means it would be 5 divided by 1 which equates to 5 or 500%) so yes, the ratio was 100% up until that last match

"I don't like sitting on acidic swamp ooze" - but then again, who does, good sir.
I wondered about that Battle Rage. It's only friendly characters now, since 17th of october and costs 2 instead of 3.
Correct me if I'm wrong (I've not played this myself), but at 23:27 couldn't you have played whirlwind, then korkron elite to take out the shieldmaster? Cracks me up every damn time when he calls it an Armani berserker XD
That whirlwindplay... Oh man, I was shouting at the Screen.
@26:11

"I don't like sitting on acidic swamp ooze."
-TotalBiscuit, 2013
Did TB get a Swamp Ooze at the beginning of every match? Does the game deal you completely random cards or mostly low cost cards at the start?
13: 20 you should have traded with the charger. The Mad bomber is still a 3/2 who can attack instead of a 3/1 who can attack. It could have eaten an imp for free for example.
13:20 Why would you not trade using the charge creature rather than the bomber or ooze? They all have 3 attack and whoever attacks the minion will die. The charge creature had 1 health, the rest had more than that, so attacking with the charge creature leaves you with a better board.

Hey TB, did you increase the resolution within Hearthstone or something, because it actually looks like sharper HD now. Looking good.
He only had one minion on the field which he played just before the battle rage, the only friendly character that was damaged was himself, giving him a single card. It used to give a card for every damaged character which includes the opposition, but they nerfed it to friendly only.

You played very well today, Tb. I love seeing overconfident paladins being put the one place they belong; the bin.

Yeah... me either.
I was watching the Halloween episode of Hawaii Five-0 when he made that trip to hawaii comment, started me laughing.
"I don't like sitting on acidic swamp ooze" me neither! (it hurts)
Great run, when did they nerf battle rage I thought it was 1 card for each hurt character?
those oozes and mad bombers are quite eager to fight for you TB.

Come home to eat, sit down, see new Lord of the Arena annnnnd rejoice! Much obliged TB
I almost had and hearthattack when he didn't attack with the peacekeeper at 26:00 before the whirlwind....
Exactly what I was thinking. Not a huge misplay, but attacking first would have been better. Keep up the good work TB. Maybe I'll see you in the Arena soon.
, I've constantly been knocking these videos out of fullscreen when I try to click on the playfield to make the little animations happen.
13:11
I don't understand TB's explanation for attacking with the Mad Bomber.
If he had used the charge then he would have a 3/2 insteand of a 3/1 on the field, am I missing something?
at 19:00, i think a smarter play would have been to Whirlwind and then battle rage. That leaves you with board control, plus 4 cards.
The point is, you can actually trade with your weapons, get low on health, THEN armor up! This way you are low on health and safe at the same time.

omg, hawai five-0 reference, faith in humanity restored
13:10 Why not trade with the charged 3/1 instead of the 3/2? Curious if it's a mistake or if I am missing something
TotalBiscuit doesn't like sitting on acidic swamp ooze, gotcha
nice Rolling Stones reference
