as an east asian, this video actually made me sad. racism and downright offensive misconceptions against us is so wide-spread in western culture but nobody takes it seriously. something needs to change
rina what racism? This is just far left propaganda, the only reason videos like these exist is because of marketing the media thinks that younger generations want to see extreme leftist views, (example playing every race other than white to be a victim of white peoples creations and behaviour when in reality all races are victims and villains) I’m a mix of a lot of things but mainly Russian and Mongolian I’ve never received racist comments for my non-white side only for my white side which I think says a lot don’t you?
rinana As a white American who studied east Asian history and politics in college, I am so sorry that so many people are uninformed about east Asia in my country.
@@barrybabygirlbenson I’m not a dude, the comment I left a year ago although worded incorrectly still stands, the media pushes a narrative that only white people can be racist and only non-white people can receive racism, this narrative is wrong and bends the actual definition of racism. Yet my Russian family haven’t said anything negative about mine, my brothers or my mums ethnicity, I also moved to the U.K. when I was 9 and live in a majority white area no one has said anything racist or degrading about it either, not even about how poor my English skills where when I first moved here.

My boyfriend works in a bank, and his prior manager is Asian. One time some guy in the lobby was harassing her about “how Asian she was”... saying things like, “You must be x% this Asian and y% that Asian. You can tell because of the slanty-ness of your eyes.” Among other things. She told him his remarks were rude, racist and unnecessary, yet he continued to badger her not realizing she was the manager. He even said something to the effect of, “It’s not racist! It’s just fact!” She took him aside in her office, and they argued loudly about the subject and how rude it is to say things like that. She tried to educate him, but her efforts were clearly unsuccessful, and finally everyone heard, “You can’t tell me what to do. You serve me. I’m a member at this institution.” Followed by, “NOT ANYMORE!!!” And thus his membership was canceled, and he was forced to take his business elsewhere. People don't think "chinese food" is actually chinese food do they? Sure i eat "chinese" food but i do it with an awareness that its an unhealthy western imitation, and nothing like authentic chinese food. besides when have you ever heard of canada food? Actual chinese food isn't called chinese food, you will find different styles based on region such as cantonese, sichuan, zhejiang, beijing, etc.. but they don't have "chinese food" in China. A good way to find more authentic food is to find places that serve free tea with your meal, and have chili flakes soaked in oil, rather than a bottle of hot sauce on the table. There are small differences that will tip you off. I recall travelling with my partner we had a bit of a game of going to places that spoke no english and had foreign menus, so all we could do was smile and point at random symbols and see what arrived on our table. One time i accidentally ordered an entire plate of fungus and lotus root. Even without being able to speak their language the people were very nice and we just smiled and nodded a lot. I love restaurant roulette!
but you could say the same about "african food". people just love short hands to describe things.i have heard of african food and i have heard of black food. much in the same way we al hear about black music. which still confuses me then i don't know what people actually mean. the same people who complain about "canada food" like you are the very first who would same the same ignorant things to other ethnic groups lol!.

rhys Wall i am not saying that they are bad or mean to ask those questions but to be honest i am kinda sick of those questions tho also as i mentioned `bad koreans and good koreans` mean which side of korea originally a person is from ...north Korea is described as a bad side of korea and s.korea as a good side That intends to use another way to ask which side of korea a person is from
ryeon18 As an African, usually people think much worse of me. I live in Holland and for some reason people think it is normal to ask how slavery was, because Africa is a giant slave country😑. Or if I lived in trees naked. I am an only child but that is hard to believe apparently, they assume that I have 16 siblings. Or ask where my father went....not knowing that in our culture, we marry till the end and my father passed away when I was a child. My other families are married for over 30 years ( uncles and aunties), they refuse to accept what they see with their own eyes. Most African and Asian countries are vacation countries to Europeans and other westerners, they must have visited Japan for example, and know that the regular Japanese people don't attack people with martial art fights, or that not everyone in Asia eats dogs, or that African countries like south Africa isn't that only whites live in houses and blacks just swing from tree to tree. It is also insulting that they don't know their own history. They know they haven't enslaved entire Africa. Why would they *assume* things that are easily accessible on the Internet or just by staying awake in history class, or think we Africans don't how to fight back? There are many places they tried to enslave and failed miserably....just like there are places in Asia they attacked and lost the war, And many places in Africa Europeans like to live instead of staying in their own perfect little bubble. I think it is okay to be stupid these days, and we have the pleasure of experiencing it!
My daughter is half Filipino, and I’m white/black. She’s got a lot of her dads features and is constantly asked where she is from, random cultural questions about China, and she’s had a couple people attempt to speak to her in Tagalog. How about you just ask the person what they like to do for hobbies or where they actually grew up, stuff you would ask a person in general.

But point is, it’s really rude to walk up to someone and start speaking a random language, assuming that they know it. I was born in America. Speak english to me thanks? Lol.
I was the weirdest kid. I grew up thinking, “If you’re not black, and you’re not white, you don’t get discriminated against at all.” Boy, was I wrong when I went on the internet and typed in the search engine “Stereotypes against (insert ethnicity here).”
As an asian female, I've pretty much given up on dating ANY white guys just because more than half the time they'll have a red flag of "oh you're so exotic looking" or "i've always wanted an asian girlfriend" or * insert random japanese phrases from anime here * (I'm chinese, dumbass). The worst are when I find out they're secretly some kind of anime otaku. Like, I like white guys and I would love to date them, and I hate to cut off an entire race just because of a few bad experiences, but when I have to turn of DMs because it's gotten to the point that I have to search for my personal groupchats in a sea of "hey beautiful, why don't I show you my samurai sword ;)" and the like, it's too much trouble.
I live in Japan. Here it's the opposite. Wow you can use chopsticks? I love Amerika. Oh you are from Germany? Fußball. Bier. Weißwurst. What you never ate Weißwurst? You foreigners are messy and loud and only want to speak english. Wow everyone from Russia, Netherlands and France is so pretty. The list goes on. Ah or giving birth the midwive asked if I really decline PDA, cause all foreigners take PDA. Well I didn't.
Haha sorry PDA is the German shortform for epidural. Thats not the first time this happened. My friends and I had a great laugh about it, considering the English meaning of PDA.
No one said Asians are all saints. There are racist people in every country period. Aren't people allowed to state their own opinion about their experience?
Who talks about racism? My husband is Japanese and so is our son. But there are Stereotypes. And just as these guys are asked questions (while some are just plain rude) I am asked silly questions too. My Motto. Live with it, you can't change people. I will have to deal with it my whole life. Or if we should move back to Germany, my husband and son have to deal with them Vice versa. Most questions result from curiosity and are not hurtful at all. Like I understand why all people think asians are Chinese. Its the biggest asian country. I also understand why here everyone thinks i am American. It can get tiresome sometimes. But when people state "i like Chinese take away" they state that they like something about that country. When I am being told they like Weißwurst it shows that they like somethimg about my country and now the German Word for white sausages. .

That's everyone. They say "You look this!" The security guard at my middle school was like "Where are you from?" And I replied, "Jamaica and way back from Guinea, why?" She says, "You look Somali, are you sure you're not from Somalia?" And me, being the sorta straightforward person that I am, I said, "I'm pretty sure that I'm Jamaican, and a bit of me is from Guinea." SHE. WOULD. NOT. LET. UP. SHE SAID, "Well check anyway." I was done, and walked away over fear of my Jamaican accent coming out on her. It's sad how practically everyone is stereotyped as being this, or being that, regardless of what you ACTUALLY are.

Conversations I’ve had:
“Nihao!”
“I’m not Chinese, white boy.”
-when I was 6
“Oh, where are you from? China? Korea?”
“Canada, actually.”
-when I was 8
“Can you see through your eyes?”
“I mean... I’m not blind...”
-when I was 9
“Oh, she can speak Chinese! *points at me*”
“Actually, I’m half Japanese. Wrong country, bro.”
-when I was 11
“How do you say ‘you are stupid’ in Chinese?”
“I’d rather not encourage you to insult yourself in foreign languages.”
-when I was 12
“Why don’t you speak with an accent?”
“Oh god, not again!”
- when I was 12
I actually started making a few journals full of these little snippets when I was young, because I thought it was so ridiculous 😂. I grew up in a small, mostly white town.

as an east asian, this video actually made me sad. racism and downright offensive misconceptions against us is so wide-spread in western culture but nobody takes it seriously. something needs to change
rina what racism? This is just far left propaganda, the only reason videos like these exist is because of marketing the media thinks that younger generations want to see extreme leftist views, (example playing every race other than white to be a victim of white peoples creations and behaviour when in reality all races are victims and villains)
I’m a mix of a lot of things but mainly Russian and Mongolian
I’ve never received racist comments for my non-white side only for my white side which I think says a lot don’t you?
rinana As a white American who studied east Asian history and politics in college, I am so sorry that so many people are uninformed about east Asia in my country.
@@yukayukayuii wtf dude this is people saying “hey i don’t like experiencing racism”, how the hell did u turn that into whatever u said
@@barrybabygirlbenson I’m not a dude, the comment I left a year ago although worded incorrectly still stands, the media pushes a narrative that only white people can be racist and only non-white people can receive racism, this narrative is wrong and bends the actual definition of racism. Like I said I had a Russian father and have a Mongolian mother, my Mongolian family call me and my brother half breeds and whenever we’ve had health concerns they say “oh it’s the European in them” and shame my mother for having children with a white man rather than an Asian man. Yet my Russian family haven’t said anything negative about mine, my brothers or my mums ethnicity, I also moved to the U.K. when I was 9 and live in a majority white area no one has said anything racist or degrading about it either, not even about how poor my English skills where when I first moved here.

My dad’s part Italian yet I got my mom’s pasty British genes.

Accidentally? Mushrooms and lotus sounds delicious
but you could say the same about "african food". people just love short hands to describe things.i have heard of african food and i have heard of black food. much in the same way we al hear about black music. which still confuses me then i don't know what people actually mean. the same people who complain about "canada food" like you are the very first who would same the same ignorant things to other ethnic groups lol!.

As an African, usually people think much worse of me.

How about you just ask the person what they like to do for hobbies or where they actually grew up, stuff you would ask a person in general.

Ah or giving birth the midwive asked if I really decline PDA, cause all foreigners take PDA. Well I didn't.
PDA?
Haha sorry PDA is the German shortform for epidural. Thats not the first time this happened. My friends and I had a great laugh about it, considering the English meaning of PDA.
Melody chachan yeah I was *very* confused, thanks for explaining!
When I am being told they like Weißwurst it shows that they like somethimg about my country and now the German Word for white sausages. .
2:10 your man looks like Dwyane The Rock Johnson
People keep saying that but I thought he looked like two different famous asian actors, but I guess nobody here watches Chinese movies except me.
Roman Fox 'nobody here watches Chinese movies except me' is a tad ignorant don't you think? some of us grew up watching those with our parents, ya know.
Abby, if I'm the one who's ignorant, then why are people comparing him to "The Rock" instead of the Chinese movie stars he looks like?
I love these"things not to say " editions i am learning a lot. Thank you
Lmaaoooo i had a guy say "your chinese eyes are so small how do you see?"
*HONEY IM NOT EVEN CHINESE IM FROM INDIA TF*
Indians have pretty big eyes (and great for makeup styles)! He's dumb.
“I do want to be a panda. You’re black, you’re white and you’re Asian”
...and cute af. !! ❤️ Let’s all be pandas! 🐼❤️🐼
YES. I've heard so many of these in person. Please please please just respect people in general???
Seeing the world in widescreen?!?! That's a new one, I'll have to ask my mom next time I see her LMAO
As I’m Chinese and Im also in middle school...I can relate to all of these quotes..everyday I get asked at school “oh are you Korean, Russian, Japanese...every Asian nationality there is”, how do you say this in some random Asian language (ps I can’t speak any Chinese AT ALL...I was adopted and has lived in the USA since 9 months), it’s like are you kidding me..why are so many people so dense and close minded to other cultures and ethnicities
Stranger “Where do you com from??”
Me “Taiwan”
Stranger “huh? Thailand”
Me “No, Taiwan”
Stranger “wha? Is that a place?”
Me inside “duh???”
Me “yeah it is”
Stranger (basically asking random questions just to continue the conversation)
Me (probably trying to understand the location, and a little bit of simpler history things including our language and so)
Stranger “Oh, I understand, so.......umm.. Do you speak Japanese?”
Me 😇😀🙄
"I'd love to go to China!" Then go!
I love that 😂
5:23 that part broke my heart...
Omg and calling the Asian girls "Ling-Ling" 🙄
I thought Ling Ling was a legendary musical time lord.
Or yum yum
“Can you King Fu?”
*”NO BUT I CAN LIFT MY LEG AND KICK YOUR ASS.”*
😂👌
As an Asian, I felt offended by this video. But meanwhile, I like the attitude of the people who take them as jokes.
Things not to say to latinos:
"aRe yOu mExIcAn?"
"iSnT tHaT iN mExIcO?"
Wouldn;t you like to be white? Why? Like why would you ask that? I just, like, what?
Because asians are discriminated against?
What are these videos even about?
I mean, there's no, "Things not to say to white people" videos, are there?
Goodness...
Roman Fox But there are videos about 'things not to say to Irish people' and 'things not to say to Scottish people'. Last time I checked, we're technically white. So yeah, maybe your point is null and void.
That is a VERY rude, not to mention stupid, comment, I agree.
@@zlivzzz maybe because whites are the most racist.
Can you please do (and yes i ask this every time and will keep asking till they happen) do Things Not To Say To People With Amxiety and Things Not To Say To People with Dyspraxia.
Wheeeey :) I have dyspraxia
“Isn’t that just dyslexia?” 😒
Pluto 2027 as a dyspraxic myself, it’s a genuine response I’ve received lol
JavozREKZ / REKZboss she, but thanks :)
I know what Dyspraxia is, but I'm pretty sure most reading your comment do not, so perhaps you can define it here.
Someone knows NCT and saw the interview with the American host?
So NCT is Kpop and one of them, Johnny, he's from Chicago so his English is obviously good.
Host: Wow...your English is phenomenal!
Literally the whole group: ....
Johnny: I'm from Chicago.
I screamed so hard xD The poor host lol
In Chinatown i seen people taking photo stretching eyes back 😖😩
