    Perfect timing with the Regional Rail train arriving in the background.

      Haha yeah, it's as if SEPTA knew I was filming and wanted to make sure things looked good for the video!

    The street-running and single track portions of this line make it super interesting!

    As a boy my uncle and would take that trolley from Collingdale to 69th st then board the EL to Arch st and board the Reading Iron Horse Rambles

    Objectively the best line SEPTA has to offer. And it’s not even close!

    I miss when the operators used to actually call the stops instead of that robotic female voice announcing the stops for them. I also like the beep noise at 1:19 that happens BEFORE the operator uses the intercom to announce the stops.

    I’m a rail fan but would love to see a couple of BRT’s on two of these trolley routes.

      It would be interesting to see SEPTA operate a proper BRT route...

    • @Poisson4147
      @Poisson4147 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Converting to BRT was proposed many years ago. However a lot of infrastructure improvements to the 101, 102, and NHSL were paid for using USDOT grants. I was told by a couple of SEPTA people that the money would have to be paid back if the rails were torn up.
      In any case I'm not sure I see what would be gained by converting to BRT. The lines are already approaching or at capacity, you can't MU buses at rush hour like they do with the trolleys, plus trolleys accelerate a lot faster than buses.

    It turning into a one track line after north street makes absolutely no sense and can cause a lot of scheduling problems. Why not simply avoid that when you can just have 2 tracks but I guess they make calls to ensure trolleys aren't running in different directions on the single track from North street to Sharon Hill.

    • @NorthEastCoastRailfan
      @NorthEastCoastRailfan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty much. The 101 has it much worse, it becomes single track after Woodland Ave (about halfway down the line) and two track again at Pine Ridge. Then it becomes single tracked again at Providence Road, which has two tracks but only one platform. You can only coordinate trolleys so well with one track, 2 would certainly be better for both lines.

    How did you film the trolley like this were you sitting in the operators seat

    • @NorthEastCoastRailfan
      @NorthEastCoastRailfan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a gap between the glass and a pole behind the operator's seat. I put my camera there so it wouldn't shake around too much
