A real person with the occasional swear word. A great smile and other facial expressions that set the scene. Dancing in the landscape, being inspiring and factual. She makes me smile and laugh. She takes you on the adventure whether you want to go or not, at the end it feels like a shared experience. "The Force Is Strong With This One."

I always add some powdered milk and sugar in with the oats. So when you add water it tastes a bit better.

Happy to know that someone else like to have a proper porridge for breakfast! 😋
Just instead of sugar I'm using a honey sachets.

So very happy to have found your videos on the Tube. Fresh, honest, informative and entertaining. Keep it up. The plastic in tea bags was a real shocker to me too when I found that out in 2019. I'm 61 years old, and the guilt of all those years of 'cuppas', drove me to buy a crockery tea pot and loose leaf tea. When hiking I settle for coffee and always look forward to that first cuppa when down off the hills.

Nail on the head! I think this is why I have never successfully published a full kit video! It does feel bloody weird and I don't think I've ever tried to take a photo of my kit without having some kind of crisis of existence! God job!

The outtakes keep me hooked - nice job on plastic free, its really really hard to achieve, I try to do it every trip. I use the compostable ziplocks, very useful of course limited life but better than plastic. stay plastic free as much as you can. great vid as normal

Absolutely love your channel ! Funny as fook, unendingly cheerful & actually you are as hard as nails. This was a really interesting vid. Recommend you dump teabags & trendy coffee. I use instant (powdered) tea an add extra powdered milk & a couple of teaspoonfuls of sugar. Quick & convenient & you can use warm/hot water & not have to boil it. How about reducing your plastics in general ? I remember (i'm late 50's..) all leather boots (apart from soles & lace hooks), wool clothing ( better than synthetics as never hold body odour) & i still use a canvas rucksack with metal frame & leather straps. Ventile anorak for top layer. I occasionally still use an old Blacks cotton tent. Weight is higher but just walk slower 😁 It's not all about ultralight & speed. Keep doing what you do 👍🏻

Most times when backpacking, you need to carry in water. So it is not any lighter to carry light weight freeze dried just add water foods. So just carry good canned foods, beef stew. Chicken stew or even thick soups loaded with chunks.....the camp trip is two, three days... you can carry enough food in pack to get you through. And the water because you need to drink a lot of water...save it for your hike.

Hello I subscribed to your channel, a short while ago. I've been watching your videos. I like the way you talk.
Question even though you say what your putting things in your pack, it would have been nice if you would have mentioned you're Sleeping bag. Because I did check out the Sleeping bag that you mentioned in your last video. It was synthetic and a little bulky and it cost a bit. As far as tents I noticed that yours was a framed tents. Unlike some of the other Tent that ate Frameless Tents that weigh 3 lb and use Walking Poles.
The Poles are probably a pound which makes it 4 lb. What does your tent weigh my two men tent is
    5 pounds 6 oz.
If you don't mind me asking your Cooking System 🤔

  • @DavidChurcheese

BTW, I know this video is 2 years old, but I'll comment it anyway. Have you thought about bringing loose tea and brew it with some kind of small filter? You can then ditch the tea leaves anywhere since they are, well, leaves, rince the filter and that's it. No tea bags, no ridiculous companies that brand their packaging "plastic free" but wrap everything in plastic anyways, and better tea for cheaper as a bonus!

I had to subscribe to you, because you are a comedian :) !! Wish you could join me for at least some of my 280 mile Cambrian way mountain hike! to make me laugh through some of the difficult misty wet days! seeing as I have been live In South Wales for a while now! I thought I would try the most difficult route in Britain apparently!! because of the ascents and descents, ending up climbing and descending 32000 or 34000 metres? in total overall! and navigating parts in boggy misty wetlands! I have the wooden toothbrush, however lots it like I lose all small things! I will get another from my sustainable shop 50 metres down my road! where I buy all of my pulses lentils beans dried! and nits trail mix and alternative cleaning products from white wine vinegar and bicarbonate soda instead of bleach! and many alternative products I use in daily life, sadly on my long distance hikes the dried coconut, pumpkin seeds some nuts will be all I will be taking from there, oh and tomato puree organic, so I can blend in wild garlic and garlic bulbs to my cous cous meals with a few dried chilli's! Ahh also go to your local Sainsburys express/ local, they sell salads super-light-weight wooden cutlery! I just take a load and fill my bag no one has told me off! I hope I can find green leafy vegetable's on my journey, from co ops I find rarely maybe 4 or 5 times through the journey! I think I will be fortunate enough when going through woodland to pick wild garlic leaves and a small (plastic bag) for stinging nettles( tastes like cooked spinach) and good for (hayfever) to mix with cous cous! I would also use plastic zip bags then for camera equipment electronics power packs! sadly in some cases re usable! plastic is good, and my neck A4 rain sheet protector! for my zoomed printouts of the most obscure and crazy navigating, Cambrian way, I am in some ways more scared of it than the 5 national parks I hiked in Norway! last Autumn many trails ended up iced over with 2 to 5 metres of snow I failed the 3 long hikes out of 7! because it was very hard to navigate and sleeping in -5 -20C wind-chill in a 3 season 2 man lightweight tent was not sufficient even for an iceman like myself! Love the paper food ready meals I will add them to my list not sure if Ocado sell anything like that! I can at least burn them with tissue, I have burnt plastic/paper food waste, in the past! but the next day I have to take the lump of plastic on the ground in my waste bag but at least its far less crap to carry! I hope you have some fantastic routes for this year planned :) Cwtches
