      Obviously worried that with the plugin enabled he'd have had to re-film this because a perfectly good landing didn't get graded as Butter (come to think of it, maybe this was 2nd attempt...). Really useful video anyway, thanks f2sim.

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      V/S would work and you could drive it down but you can set a rate of descent where your IAS increases above your target IAS/ If you want to go down at a certain speed LVL CHG is the quickest way to go down for the commanded MCP speed.

      @charliedontsurf5831 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flightdeck2sim nice you can also use the LVL CHG to capture the GS from above at your airline. At some airlines the usage of LVL CHG during this procedure is not recommended if not prohibited due to excessively high vertical speed rates between 2000 and 1000 feet.

    Hello FD2S! With this technique, how to be sure not to intercept "false" secondary beams? Would you still Xcheck the altitudes on the chart to be sure to be on the correct path?

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Excellent question and one I should've pointed out during the stream. Cross checking the altitudes, monitoring VNAV PATH and the VSD would be an effective way of checking the correct glideslope is displaying.

    Thanks for this. I would be totally in despair, dropping landing gear, exceeding flaps speeds, and overreacting. I will surely try this on the next flight. For those of us trying, maybe is a good idea to save the flight before doing so, so we can rinse and repeat as much as we want. Make sure you have the latest FIX 12 zibo.

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! This technique provides a controlled way of capturing the glide slope, going dirty and dropping gear/flaps whilst trying to go down and slow down can provide high rates of descent close to the ground, not ideal!

    This is what I am looking for Capt, thanks. For my further understanding, would you mind to explain the reason: why add 10 knots at flaps 5, why don't just leave it at the flaps 5 speed instead. And the flaps 10 set is it for air-braking purpose (plus the flight detent) to catch the glideslope faster (in LVL CHG mode) ? By the way, mostly I struggle to acquire the flaps speed on descend, aircraft is felt so heavy the airspeed keep increased, so is it the technique to achieve that, I presume ? Thanks in advanced.

    Hi FD2S, great tutorial gain. I still often practise your visual circuit tutorial (2017!). Just quick question, if after lvl chg the 737 can’t manage it to the glidepath, do you then use v/s in combination with slower speed setting in real life? Thanks!

    Interesting because this is NOT the procedure in the Boeing manual.
    Set MCP to airfield +1000ft
    Fully configure to Landing CONFIG ( normally gear down F30 )
    Select VS 1000-1500ft
    If Glide Slope not captured by 1000 ft Go Around.
    Of course every airline has different SOP so I’m not saying your wrong but just showing what ‘Mr Boeing’ says and my airline follows.

    • @flightdeck2sim
      @flightdeck2sim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi MrBuzteck, thanks for your comment!
      Which Boeing manual are you referring to? None of our Boeing documentation (FCOM/FCTM etc) has any guidance on how to recover above the glide slope. I’d be interested to find out, especially as the use of V/S when high is discouraged as you have no direct speed control.
      What I demonstrated is the approved procedure/SOP we use when high on the glide slope as you have direct speed control, a reasonable rate of descent and a requirement to have glide slope capture by 4nm but as you said, many operates have different SOP’s!
      Cheers!
